The boys are working hard
preparing for a variety show,
they are presenting in the Scout
Hall June 6, and 7,
The lads are really putting
their hearts into this show, en-
couraged and coached by their
leaders Doreen McRobert,
Juanita Westman, Roberta and
Dick Kioss and Eric Chovancek.
Proceeds are for crippled
children and Scout and Cub ex-
penses.
The Scouts will camp out at
Wildwood Scout camp site the
weekend of May 17-19. The Cubs
will have their camp at the same
site June 21-22.

Granton Happy Gang
The Happy Gang met on
Wednesday in the United Church
basement on April 30. Mrs. J.
Kerr was in the chair and con-
ducted the business.
The meeting opened with the
singing of two hymns, the Battle
Hymn of the Republic and the
Twenty Third Psalm sung to the
tune of Amazing Grace. Mrs.
Warren Gregory read a poem and
showed pictures of Florida where
she and her husband had spent
the winter. She also showed some
film of Fun Day in Granton and
other pictures of interest.
The remainder of the afternoon
was taken up with playing cards,

Medway Euchre Club
Mrs. A. Donley was hostess to
the Medway Euchre Club on
Monday, April 28.
Prize winners were the
following: ladies, high score,
Mrs. C. McRobert; lone hands,
Mrs. A, Hobbs; low score, Mrs, C.
McComb; men, high score,
Chester McComb; lone hands,
Clarence Lewis; low score,
Elmer Summers.
Assisting the hostess with the
lunch was Mrs. G. Dann.
Included in the menu was fresh
maple syrup.
Explorer news
Rev. Mary Mclnally was the
guest speaker at the Explorers
meeting on Tuesday. Her subject
was "Values of Life".
WI operate booth at Roloson sale
On Saturday the Women's
Institute, thanks to the kindness
of Mr. & Mrs. D. Roloson, in
allowing them the use of their
trailer, set up a booth to sell hot
dogs, pie, coffee, pop,chocolate
bars and potato chips, Business
was so good that by 3 :30 p.m. just
about everything was sold. out.
Bridge Course ter minated
The final meeting of the
Duplicate Bridge Club was held
in the recreation room at the
home of Mr. & Mrs. Doug. Brown
on Thursday, May 1.
There were five tables in play,
David Burke of the London Studio
was on hand to give instruction
and iron out problems.
Winners by match points were
in the following order: David

Bernie La Douciere and Jack
Fletcher, 49; Doug and Evelyn
Brown, 49; Willa Harding and
Shirley Bannerman, 47; Betty

Doug and Evelyn Brown were
presented with a bouquet of
flowers by the club in ap-
preciation for the use of their
home and the kindness shown.
Doreen and Mary McRobert
received gifts for being the
couple with the highest number of
match points during the course.
The evening ended with a tasty

every home in the Village, in-
forming all residents of a special
garbage pick-up Saturday
morning,
Daffodil tea attended
Granton was well represented
by the ladies who attended the
Daffodil Tea at the home of Mrs.
George Jervis, Butler St. Lucan
on Wednesday.
One of the lucky ticket holders
on the draw for two original
paintings by Mrs. Jervis was
Allan Maslem, Lucan.
Mrs. Elmer Summers,
chairman of education for the
Lucan Branch of the CCS was
guest speaker at the Catholic
Women's League meeting on
Tuesday. Mrs. Al Cocquyt also a
member of the education com-
mittee and public relations
representative, assisted Mrs.
Summers by giving a display in
connection with her work as a
member of the mastectomy
patient home visiting committee,
A film was shown on
"Radiation - Room 117", and
depicted Cobalt 60 being used for
the treatment of cancer.

N. Savary conducted the service
of morning prayer and officiated
at the Sacrament of Holy Com-
munion, As this was Rogation
Sunday the minister spoke on St.
John 16 and entitled his sermon
"What is Religion."

Mrs. Lois Herbert and Mrs. C.
Lewis of St. Thomas Anglican
Church, attended the Annual
meeting of the Anglican church,
in the Diocese of Huron on
Thursday, May 1, which was held
at St. James Westminster
Church, London. The special
speaker was The Most Rev. E. W.
Scott Primate of the Anglican
Church of Canada.
United Church
At the United Church Rev.
Mary Mclnally's sermon was
"Harness the Wild Horses."
