Mr. & Mrs. Howard Rennie of Detroit and Harry Hirtzel of Crediton were visitors on Saturday with Mr. & Mrs, Lawrence Hirtzel. Orma Pollack of Kincardine was an overnight guest at the home of his sister Mrs. Lorne Hicks while visiting with his wife, who is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Visitors with Mr. & Mrs, John Thompson were Mrs, Don Heaman and Karen of London on Saturday; Mr. & Mrs. Sherman Eaton, Bonnie and Danny of Chatham on Sunday. ARC Industries, Dashwood to hold their meeting. They toured the building to see what the trainees do in crafts and woodworking Mrs. June Essery opened the meeting with a poem, "Heaven's Special Child," roll call, minutes and treasurer's reports were read and approved. Twenty visits were reported. Mrs. Edith Lobb reported on the progress of the Royal Doulton Show on April 23. A $25 donation was made to ARC Industries to go toward buying a toaster. MrS. Guest speaker at the United Church on Sunday morning was Rev. R. L. McConnell of Port Lambton who spoke on alcohol and drug concerns. Special music was a duet by Beulah and Erwin Holt, entitled, "Drifting." Film shown to UCW The UCW met Thursday af- ternoon in the church basement with 22 in attendance. Mrs. Irene Kennedy was in charge of the worship service. Two films were shown on the story of Ruth and Esther from the Bible with Mrs. Lenore Orr and Mrs. Hazel Blewett doing the commentary. A solo "Lord of the dance" was sung by Olive Miller with Irene Kennedy at the piano. All joined in singing "Women of God arise," Mrs. Kennedy's topic on "Women" was taken from second chapter of Dale Evans-Rodgers book. A new song "The Great Parade," was sung by Olive Miller. Roll call was answered by naming a shrub or flower men- tioned in the Bible. Mrs. 0. Miller, president, presided for the. business and reported that a quilt the ladies had made was sold. A get well card was signed by all the ladies for Mrs. Manford Luther who is in hospital recovering from surgery. Lunch hostesses were Fern Love and Maureen Walper. Witch doctor tape heard The Church of God ladies held their regular monthly meeting Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Rosie Grigg with 13 in at- tendance, Roll call was answered by "A cure for the blues." Mrs. Katie Vincent led the worship service, Mrs. Morley Desjardine played a tape recording of the third chapter of "Christ's Witch Doctor." Lunch was served by hostess Mrs. Grigg. Dies in California Mrs, Viola Tiedman Lombard, California passed away on March 9, in her 80th year. She was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs.. Alfred Tiedeman of grand Bend. Funeral services were held at the Church of Many Flowers, and interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale,California. Her husband predeceased her. She is survived by two daughters and several grandchildren. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Barry Hamilton of Ottawa, spent the weekend here on their return trip from a holiday in Florida, with his parents Mr. & Mrs. Alec Hamilton. Mrs. Joseph Moore of Detroit and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Belt of Milford Michigan spent the weekend with their sister Mrs, Leroy Bariteau and all attended the variety show in Greenway United church Friday evening. Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Desjardine returned Monday from Lakeland, Florida, where they spent the winter months. Mr. & Mrs. Harold Grigg of Kitchener spent Sunday with his mother Mrs. Rosie Grigg. Esther Ravelle of Toronto spent the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Ravelle. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Love attended a dance at Kirkton-Woodham Hall and presentation party Friday night, and a dinner party Saturday night at the Pineridge Chalet in honor of her sister and brother in law Mr. & Mrs. Reg Hodgert's 25th wedding an- niversary. Mr. & Mrs. David Collins of Ailsa Craig visited Sunday with their aunt and uncle Mr. & Mrs. Bill Love. Mrs, M. Janet Tomlinson of St. Marys, formerly of Woodham, was honoured on Monday evening with a miscellaneous shower prior to her • marriage on Saturday. Jean Copeland entertained a number of friends on Wednesday evening at a baby shower for Erin McLennan, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Stewart McLennan of St. Marys. Staffa girls are honored By MRS, J, TEMPLEMAN STAFFA Achievement Day for the 4-H Homemaking Club, "Clothes for Leisure" was held Saturday April 12 at Kirkton-Woodham Com- munity Center with Staffa No. 1 participating. Leaders for this club were Mrs. Spencer Jeffery and Mrs. George Vivian. The girls modelled their gar- ments with Teresa Diehl as commentator. They had an exhibit set up on "Variety in Leisurewear", with Nancy Templeman giving the com- ments. Marion Smale and Nancy Templeman from Staffa No. 1 received their county honour pins and certificates for successfully completing six clubs, Joanne Ross from Staffa No. 1 received her provincial honour pin and certificate for suc- cessfully completing 12 4-H Homemaking Clubs. Persona Is Staffa Women's Institute served lunch to those attending the Umpire Clinic at Staffa Hall on Saturday. Bonnie Miller, Toronto, spent the weekend with her family, Mr. & Mrs. Clifton Miller and Paul. Mary Parsons is spending a few days with Janice Vivian, while her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Parsons are holidaying in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pamela Wallace spent the weekend with Elizabeth Tern- pleman. At the same home Saturday were Geraldine Templeman, Rob and Beverley Templeman, Stratford and Dave and Joanne Capling, Mississauga. Mrs. Robert McCaughey is a patient at Seaforth Community Hospital. Bradley Rickards is holidaying with his grandfather, Alvin Worden and Bill. Mrs. Les Waddell, is a patient at Seaforth Community Hospital. Mrs. Don Brine, Jean Copeland and Mrs. Stuart Shier took in the St. Marys Horticulture Bus trip to Toronto Saturday. The Messengers held a suc- cessful crokinole party on Friday evening.
