The District A convention, held
in Windsor, April 13 and 14 is now
history. It was a well attended
affair with five members of
Branch 540 in attendance. A most
impressive remembrance ser-
vice was held in the park at the
site of the Lancaster Bomber. My
sakes the Bomber looked smaller
than I remembered it to be some
And now comes the exciting
part of the meeting, three
Comrades were nominated for
the office of Deputy District A
Commander, one from Windsor,
another from London and our
own Comrade, Bill SMITH. The
Comrade elected must have an
overall majority, in other words
at least 51 percent of the vote,
If not the Comrade with the
least number of votes must step
aside and another vote held.
However, this was not necessary
as Comrade Bill Smith was
elected to office on the first
ballot,
Congratulations, Comrade Bill,
the members of Branch 540 are
indeed very proud for the honor
you have brought to Branch 540
and to the community.
Jim Rose of London a non-
participant in Branch 540 cheque
draw made the April draw at the
general meeting of the Branch
held Wednesday, April 9 and the
$100 winner was Leo Dewan,
Lucan,
Don't forget the special
meeting to be held on April 23 to
discuss the proposed renovations
to our lounge. All regular
members are requested to make
every effort to attend. This is the
place to make your wishes known
Comrades.
Attention all Legion dart
players, On Saturday, April 19
the Royal Canadian Legion
provincial dart championships
will be held at Branch 317,
London,
Then on S.turday, April 26 a
ladies only dart tournament will
be hosted by the A.N.A.F. club,
Branch 227 at 267 Adelaide St.,
London.
On Saturday, April 12,
everything was really humming
around Branch 540 as the Mark V
really strutted their stuff during
their first guest appearance at
Branch 540. From the rave
reports received to date 'You are
a great.bvia and have a fantastic
sound.' Branch 540 tips its beret
to you all in aek'nowledgement of
your kindness. Everyone at-
tending the banquet and dance
had a grand time.
And that's 30 for this week -
Remember - Once we get up in
the morning we find that the rest
of the day depends on our rest of
the night.
Bill Smith
