T-A photo Pupils enjoy sugar bush trip MT, CARMEL The annual trip by tractor and wagon to the sugar bush at George Glendinning's farm was a special event last Wednesday. About 30 grade four students watched the pails of sap being gathered and the syrup boiled. Their teacher Marjorie Glen- dinning was among the group. Former Mt. Carmel sister dies Word was received here late Saturday of the death of Sister St. Dominic at "The Pines", Chatham. She was in her 59th year of her life as a religious teacher and had spent her high school teaching years most zealously at "The Pines." She was the first grade nine and ten teacher to teach 51 years ago when the Ursuline Sisters arrived in Mt. Carmel. She also taught in Wallaceburg and Brescia College, London. Her funeral Mass took place at "The Pines" Chapel, Chatham and interment was Tuesday in St. Anthony's Cemetery. A con- celebrated mass was said by Fr. Finn, Fr. ElimviIle WI ;elect officers conduct annual at restaurant By 'KATHY COOPER The Elimville Women's. Institute held their annual meeting. at the Burkley Restaurant Exeter with 26 members present. The meeting was opened with "The Ode" and roll call "smile and pay your fees." The minutes and correspon- dence were read. Mrs. Elson Lynn presented Mrs. Ina Skinner with a corsage for years service. The annual meeting minutes and reports were read and adopted. Mzs. Gilbert Johns installed the officers for the following year. They are: honorary president, Mrs. Philip Johns; president Mrs. Howard Pym; vice presidents Mrs, Murray Coward, Mrs. Carl Gower; secretary- treasurer Mrs. Lorne Johns; assistant secretary-treasurer Mrs. Emerson Penhale; district director Mrs. Ross Skinner; alternate Mrs. Ron Fletcher; directors Mrs, Floyd Cooper, Mrs. Russell Morley, Mrs. Dan Coward. Ruth Skinner was nominated to go to Goderich to hear "The Mustard Report". The new president said a few words. The 4- H club girls and their mothers will be guests at the next meeting on May 14, Ruth Skinner thanked the program committee for the day and Mrs. Philip Johns thanked the waiters for their service. The meeting adjourned and bowling was enjoyed. Skit commentaries written On April. 14 a meeting of Elimville 2 4-H was held at the home of Judy Johns. The purpose of the meeting was to write the skit and commentaries for achievement day. Everyone tried on their blouse and comments were made. All members were to have their blouses and books finished and present them at achievement day. The leaders handed out sheets to every member on how to put several objects in order and explain why. Judy Johns and Shirley Cooper outlined the next club "The Garden Club", Each member must plant 10 vegetables and four annual flowers. Members must be able to prepare and serve five vegetables, Personals Mr, & Mrs.Alvin Cooper visited Wednesday with Mr. & Mrs. Doug Johnston and family of Lucan. Mr. & Mrs. Reuben Pehlke of Monkton spent the weekend with Mt & Mrs. Alvin Fulton. They attended the wedding of their grandson Larry to Joyce Ker- slake at Elimville United Church on Saturday. A large number from the community attending the wed- ding reception for Mr. & Mrs. Larry Fulton at Exeter Legion Saturday .
