The Easter Thank Offering
Meeting of the United Church.
Women was held on Monday
evening.
Mrs. Jack Duncan opened the
meeting with the 'Theme
"Resurrection, Reality and
Missionary Theology" and the
call to worship.
Mrs. Rick Mellenger read the
scripture lesson. Mrs. Glenn
Jeffery program convener gave
the meditation. Mrs. Alvin
Passmore played a piano solo.
Mrs. Mellenger received the
offering and Mrs. Duncan gave
the offertory prayer.
Mrs. Glenn Jeffery gave the
topic "Missionary Theology",
Mrs. Duncan read a poem and
introduced the guest speaker,
Rev. Bert Daynard of Staffa, He
gave a talk and also showed
pictures of Kenya where his son
Robin Daynard was living with
his wife and family. He is an
agriculture engineer,
Mrs. Jeffery thanked Mr.
Daynard and presented him with
a gift.
Mrs. Lee Webber opened the
business part of the meeting,
The treasurer's report was
given. The visiting committee for
the next three months are Group
U, Mrs. George Kellett; Group C,
Doris Elford; Group. W, Mrs,
Robert Mayer.
It was discussed about getting
the first cook books reprinted. An
invitation was received from
Centralia to go to "Focus on Fine
China" at South Huron District
High School on April 23.
Surprise gatherin9
On Tuesday evening quite a
number of friends gathered at the
borne of Mr. & Mrs. William
Lamport, Exeter the occasion
being, the 40th. wedding an-
niversary of Mr. & Mrs, Lamport
and Mr. 8z Mrs, Ray Cottle.
There were seven tables of
euchre played and prizes were
won for lone hands, Philip Hern;
high man, William Lampert; low
man, Wilfred Hunkin; high
lady, Mrs, Lloyd Ballantyne;
low lady, Mrs. Ray Cottle.
Robert Mayer spoke a few
words and Bill and Lizzie and
Ray and Lauretta were presented
With a ruby cream and sugar and
a candy 'dish.
Presentation
On Saturday March 29, 28
friends and neighbours including
Mr. & Mrs. Brian Allen, Stratford
and Mr. & Mrs, Ted Kernick
gathered at the home of Mr. &
Mrs. Wes Reid to honor Mr. &
Mrs. Donald Kernick and Mary
before leaving for their new home
in Goderich.
Euchre was played.
Donald and Marjory were
presented with a kitchen clock
and an electric tea kettle. Mary
was presented with a pretty glass
decanter.
Mary will be staying with her
brother Ted and his wife until the
end of the school year.
Three new stewards
On Sunday morning during the
church sevice three new
stewards were inducted. They
are Robert Hume, EdWin Miller
and David Passmore. They were
welcomed by the steward
chairman Larry Ballantyne and
Rev, Barry Robinson.
On Sunday April 20 the regular
church service will be held at 10
a.m. owing to a special service at

returned home recently after
having spent the winter in Texas.
Mr. & Mrs. William Cann
returned home on Friday after
having spent part of the winter in
Florida. They accompanied Mr.
& Mrs. William Wright of
Wroxeter.
Mrs. Glenn Rohde was hostess
for a Stanley Party Wednesday
evening. Mrs. Hirtzel, Centralia
was the demonstrator.

nesday evening.' Mrs. Beaton of
Centralia was guest speaker.

Glenn Jeffery, Alan and Connie
were Sunday guests 'with Mrs.
Mabel Jeffery, Exeter.
Mr. & Mrs. Howard Pym, Mrs,
Philip Johns, Elimville, Rev.

assisted at the service at the Blue
Water Rest Home Zurich Sunday
