celebrated the 60th anniversary
of their wedding on the past
weekend.
They were married April 7,
1915, by Rev.Dougherty of St.
Paul's Anglican Church, Hensall,
They had a family of five,

A tentative date May 14 was set
for a "Dessert Euchre."
Members are invited to a
banquet and social in the Legion

Hensall Town Council met
April 7 in the newly renovated
Council chambers.
Ernie Davis reported on
moving furniture, taking a tree
down at Mrs, McKinnons, filling
pot holes, snow plowing and
sanding.
L, Erb reported for the street
committee that Mrs. Turner
wants to be notified if there is a
meeting on storm sewers.
P.. Neilands reported on the
dump,
H. Knight reported that the
parks board meeting was snowed
out and they need legal advice
regarding the park property
before proceeding with
renovations,
Council approved the budget
presented by Hensall recreation
of $10,846.72.
The urban municipalities are
asked to comment on having a
nuclear generating plant in the
County. Knight said he was in
favour of having a plant in the
County.
Regarding a questionnaire
dealing with elections and
changes in the fiscal year,
Council's resolution objected to
any change in the fiscal year, the
election date. They were in
favour of assuming office
January 1.
The lvlinister of Transportation
notified Hensall that there will be
no change in Highway 84 for the
next five years and illumination
maintenance is the problem
solely to be paid by the village.
Council is concerned about
drainage under the highway,
No plans were made to attend
the organization of small
municipalities, to be held in
Gra venhurst.
Knight may attend the workhop
in Kitchener on the invitation of
the Ministry of Housing.
Building permits were given to
Bonthron and Son for aluminum
siding and awning at the front of
the store ;to Ron Wareing to
extend the storage shed at the
rear of the 5 and 10 store; to
Orville Webber to renovate by
adding a room and garage on
South Richmond; and to Robt,
Goudie to install a new roof and
concrete floor, heating and
wallboard insulation to open a
tool and saw sharpening service.
Council considered the new
plan for loaning money for home
Will 'share in
barrier prize
A Hensall youth will share
$1,000 for his part in helping to
design and build a safety barrier
to be used in auto racing.
Donald Noakes, son of Mr. &
Mrs.• Leonard- Noakes built the
barrier with George Racoske,
Paul Cantagna, Rui Be Carealho
and Don Haley. All are students
at the University. of Guelph.
Donald is completing his second
year as an engineering student.
The award, presented over the
weekend in Toronto, was part of a
competition sponsored by
Labatt 's Breweries.
In the competition, the second
place winners were from the
University of Waterloo, and third
place winners were from
McMaster University, Hamilton,
renovations and decided that it
would be an "administrative
nightmare."
Council decided on a write-off
of business tax for W.J. Cameron
and John Sangster and granted
$150 to the South Huron
Agriculture Society.
Plans were made regarding the
library during renovations.

Christen of California spent the
past two Weeks visiting with the
former's parents, Mr. & Mrs.
Archie Noakes, who celebrated
their 60th wedding anniversary,

returned to their home after
spending the winter months in

The staff of the Bank of Mon-
treal, held a bowling evening on
Wednesday at the Zurich bowling
lanes. They were entertained
later at the home of the manager
Eric & Mrs, Luther.
Mr. H. Rietsema and Mr, T.
Rietsema , of Bedum, the
Netherlands, have been visiting
with Mr, & Mrs. Klaas Van
Wieren and family.
United Church notes
"What is man?" was the
sermon topic chosen by Rev. Don
Beck at the service of worship in
Hensall United Church, Sunday
morning. The choir sang the
anthem "I want Jesus to walk
with me", accompanied on the
organ by. Mrs. Turkheim,
Mothers day practice
Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
' Church on. Sunday. His sermon
was "Mark of a beast." The choir
sang the anthem "Sweet Sabbath
Morning" with Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall presiding at the organ.
Sabbath School members
will commence practice on
Sunday April 13 at 10:20 a.m. for
Mother's Day, under the direc-
tion of Linda Bell.
Eight attend at
4-H club meeting
Meeting eight of the Hensall 4-
H clubs was held Monday evening
at the home of Mrs. William
Fuss. Fourteen girls answered to
the roll call "One new sewing
technique I have learned from
this project"
The next meeting will just be a
get-together to plan the exhibit
and skit next Monday even* at
Mrs. Fuss'.

The Presbyterian WMS ladies
were in charge entertaining the
residents on Monday afternoon.
With Mrs. Rochus Faber in
charge, games of bingo and
music were much enjoyed.

Members read the life and
history of many missionaries of
the north India Church and their
names were placed on the map to
show where they worked,

16 at 8 p.m. Dr, Toll willspeak on
his work in Jamaica.
The roll call was answered by
"What Easter Meant to Me." The
society will observe their 85th
birthday in June. Mrs. Gordon
Schwalm will be in charge of the
meeting May 5.
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm and
Mrs, Ruby Hoggarth attended the
Synodical in St. Thomas on
Tuesday and Wednesday.
Noble Grand Mrs. Margaret
Consitt presided at the meeting of
Amber Rebekah Lodge 349 on
Wednesday evening assisted by
the Vice-Grand Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor.
The charter of the lodge was
draped in mbmory of Past
Assembly President of the
Rebekah Assembly, Sisters
Martha Patterson, Nora Brunner
and Matilda MacDonald.
It was announced P.N.G. Mrs.
Irene Harnack of Gbderich will
be the incoming District Deputy
President for Huron District.

Mrs. Clarence Volland
president presided at the meeting
of the Ladies' Aid and opened the
meeting with prayer and the
singing of "0 Master Let Me
Walk With Thee".
Mrs. Hyde gave the treasurer's
report., Several thank you notes
were received for cards and
flowers sent to sick and shut-ins.

Frances, Mrs. Morgan of
California. Their youngest
daughter Helen passed away.
They have 26 grandchildren, and
15 great-grandchildren.
A family dinner was held at the
Pineridge Chalet on Saturday
evening and "Open House" at
their home Sunday,
Mr, & Mrs. Noakes received
many gifts and congratulatory
messages including a telegram
from The Queen, congratulations
from Ontario Premier William
Davis and Federal Opposition
leader Robert Stanfield, also a
plaque from John Riddell, Huron
MPP,

The family of Mr. & Mrs.
Walker Carlisle entertained
them at a dinner party on
Saturday night at the Pineridge
Chalet on the occasion of their
45th wedding anniversary.
Their family of three Mr. &
Mrs. Glenn Weido, Mr. & Mrs.
Robert Carlisle and William
Carlisle, also Mr. & Mrs. Stokes
(nee Martha Carlisle), London
and Mr. & Mrs. Leela`nd Wilbert

The South Huron District
Womens Institute Board meeting
was held at Hensall United
Church, April 1.
The meeting opened with the
Institute Ode and Mary Stewart
Collect. Roll call and minutes
were read by Mrs. Gordon Elliott
of Seaforth.
Mrs. James Keyes, Seaforth
president, dealt with the
business.
A letter was read from Mrs.
Herbert Maluske, FWIO
president, informing members of
International Womens' Year,
June 1975 was chosen as the WI
ir:tiOntir to 'Participate. •
An inviation was received from
ARC Industries, Dashwood to
tour their building.
The district annual meeting
will be held in Dashwood May 15.
It was decided to have a pot-luck
dinner for this meeting.
Mrs. Diamond from New
Hamburg will be the guest
speaker at the district annual
meeting.
It was decided to have a craft
table at the area convention this
fall, The convention will be held
in St. Thomas,
