Pentecostal Holiness Saturday afternoon members of the junior girls' group presented a play "The Story of Easter". The scenes were on Good Friday as people returned to their homes, remembering the various events which had taken place during the ministry of Jesus. The final scene was the Empty Tomb, when the girls sang "Christ The Lord is Risen Today". At Suriday School three puppets were on hand, with Larry having returned from Florida and joining with Lionel and Lucy to tell about his trip. At the Easter morning service Bill Cochrane led in singing, Mrs. Roy Dykeman and the youth choir sang two numbers, as well as Doug Butler and Marlene Butler singing two duets and Cathy Hopps singing a solo. Rev. Ray Brewster preaching from Luke 24:1.7 on "The Power of the Resurrection". At the evening service, Roger Mason led the singing and Marlene Butler sang a solo. Bill Cochrane, in the absence of Mr, Brewster who was speaking in Toronto, spoke on "Obedience to God". United Friday evening members of the Lucan United Church gathered at the Communion Table in celebration of the Lord's Supper using the words from the new Service Book. Craft badges for Brownies The Brownies have been meeting regularly each week and 12 girls were successful in ear- ning their "Craft Badges". The judging was done by Mrs. Ross McRoberts. The members enjoyed their visit to the Ice Capades at the London Gardens and over the holidays took another trip to London. This time to visit the Centennial Museum on Queens Avenue, to see the display of "Early Domestic Lighting in Canada", Following the tour, the curator took the girls downstairs and demonstrated candle dipping with each member making herself a candle, For lunch the Brownies went to McDonalds where they were given a tour of the premises. They were permitted to pack french fries, were shown various T.V. McDonald commercials and pictures of the school to which McDonald managers go and from which they graduate , with a degree in the' Of ham- burgs. Sunday morning the church Was full to hear the Easter message given by Rev. Ewart Madden, this theme being "The Greatest .. . is Love", The junior and senior choirs, under the direction of Paul Kight, B, Mus., M.A., joined to sing "Good Christian Men, Rejoice and Sing". The Psalm and Lesson were read by Alden Walker, chairman of the Board of Management, Flowers in the sanctuary were placed by Clarence G. Lewis in loving memory of his wife Jennie (Raycraft) Lewis. Bev Madden and Maria Brennan united their voices in several numbers for the "Gospel Sing" Sunday evening, as well as leading those present in other old and new songs, along with Mrs. Madden, The next gospel sing will be held Sunday April 13 at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to hear the "Bach Cantata - Out of the Deep Seniors plan summer trips Various destinations were discussed for the Senior Citizens' sponsored bus trip in May. The one most-favoured was a short drive to Strathroy for one of the famous smorgasbord dinners at the Golf & Country Club. This idea will be investigated and further announcement made later. President Gordon Hotson announced the first men's "coffee break" Monday morning had been quite successful, with 14 gentlemen present. All men of senior age are invited. Euchre was enjoyed by members of the Sunshine Club with winners: ladies' high, Mrs. C. Neil; low, Mrs. M. Lamphier; men's high, Mrs. H. Holmes playing a man's card; and low, Albert Armstrong. The "Busy Buddies" continued their crafts. Mrs. Neil gave a humorous reading entitled, "When I have Reached 65. Lunch was provided by Mrs. Neil, Mrs. H. T. Bond, Sr. and Mrs. M. H. Hodgins. Live for today is WI motto Members of the Lucan Women's Institute met at home of Mrs. Har?Ila 4 ebbleigh on Wed- nesday evening.. The roll call,';What I would like as my epitaph" was answered by 19 members with much humor and a bit of pathos. Mrs. Cecil Robb gave the motto "Live for Today" as well as a report on the Federation of Agriculture meeting which she had attended recently as district representative. A singsong of Irish numbers was enjoyed, with Mrs. Sheridan Revington at the piano. A "Pat" contest directed by Mrs. Robb was won by Mrs. M. H. Hodgins and a spelling game, in two teams, was led by the hostess. During the business meeting, chaired by president Mrs. James Lockyer, the District Annual meeting was announced for May 6 with Clandeboye Branch as hostesses. It is to be held in Lucan United Church, A donation of $15 was voted to purchase books for the Lucan and District Cooperative Nursery School. Plans were made for the annual bus trip. Tentative plans were made for an "International Tea" to be held on May 30, conveners to be Mrs. Robb and Mrs. T. Emery, Sr. Mrs. Lorne Barker thanked the hostess and her assistant, Mrs. Wes. Atkinson and all those who assisted with the meeting. Call I Unto Thee" in the Church Sunday April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Evening Unit UC1A/ Mrs. A. W. Thompson read an opening poem "The Legend of the Raindrops" at the meeting of the Evening Unit of the UCW at the church on Tuesday evening. A Bible quiz, on the Book of John, directed by leader, Mrs. Ed. Melanson was won by Mrs. A. E. Reilly. Mrs. Wm., Froats and Mrs. James Lockyer led in worship using "The Story of the Palms" and "The Message of Easter" and Easter hymns, A singsong of old and new gospel hymns led by Mrs. Melanson with Mrs, Harold Cobleigh at the piano was en- joyed by the members, The roll call was answered by 16 members giving a favourite verse or story from John. During the business meeting it was announced that the new curtains, for the second floor windows, would arrive in two weeks, two crib quilts could be made from the material donated, and a full size quilt is ready for 3 BIG DAYS tying as soon as the backing is purchased. The annual "Opportunity Sale" date was set for Friday evening, May 2 and Saturday, May 3. There will be a sale of home baking. Souvenir spoons for the 50th Anniversary of the United Church, and other spoons may be ordered through Mrs. Wm. Froats. CGIT answer questionnaire Karen Taylor opened the meeting of the Lucan CGIT on Tuesday evening by repeating the purpose and the CGIT hymn was sung. Readings from "One Day at a Time" were given by Janice Burt, Karen Mason, Wendy Hearn and Brenda Thompson. Each member was given a questionnaire, to complete at home, entitled "Know Your Church". This questionnaireis to be returned at the next meeting. During the month of March, Lorie Garroway won her badges for Child Care and Land Girl, and the hiker's badge went to Jill Fowles. Aside from their regular meetings the members of the Lucan District Guides attended the Kiwanis World of Travel and Adventure series, March 21, at Centennial Flail, London and enjoyed "America, Encore Exhibition", On March 27 seven members of the Lucan troop went on a district hike out of Ilderton, when they made camp fires and cooked their own lunches. They also enjoyed a scavenger hunt and while they did not see either geese or deer, all other items were found.
