public meetings will begin in
June.
The opinions of the public along
with Mr. Davidson's recom-
mendations will go to Toi•onto,
where the plans will be made, It
is believed the plan will be
similar to the one in Zurich, but
different in the respect that
Hensall has more industry.
It was decided to raise the
salary of the fire chief to $30
monthly and to $20 for expenses.
The deputy chief's salary was
raised to $15 monthly and an
increase bringing monthly wages
for the captain to $12.50 and $10
for firemen.
An additional $6 will be paid for
each fireman attending a mutual
aid meeting and $3 for each man
responding to each fire alarm. A
further $30 will be paid by council
for each day for a man attending
meetings on fire service.
The firemen are insured by the
Workmans' Compensation Board
for $12,000.
Building permits totalling
$30,800 were issued in the past
month. Permits were Issued to
William Scotchmer for a new
house; Gary Maxwell, for siding;
Keith Volland, for an addition of a
room and for the building of a
carport; William Petty, for
siding on Gable Inn; and to Eric
Mansfield for renovations to his
attic.
Subsidies for maintaining
streets for the coming year will
be $5,900.
Council made a public reading
of Bill 97, from the Province of
Ontario, concerning uniform
store hours It was stated that the
shopping centers in London will
not be allowed to remain open on

the provinces and the govern-
ment to restrict the flow of
foreign doctors into Canada,
then is another step to restrict
the ever increasing health costs.
The time is at hand for radical
changes in our health delivery
systems. All the political parties

change: Public opinion seems to
be mounting for a revision of
present services.
