Grand with the "Travelling
Gavel." The D.D.P. Mrs, Jean
Bridge was presented to the
Lodge by acting Jr. P.N.G. Mrs.
Inez McEwen.
Observing the 26th anniversary
of the Institution of the Lodge,
greetings were received from
members of Morning Star Lodge,
D.D.P. Mrs. Jean Bridge,
Brussels, Mrs. Pearl Shaddick,
who is holidaying in Florida.

Treasurer reported financial
balances, Vice Grand Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor reported for
the Visiting Committee, Noble
Grand Mrs. Margaret Consitt
reported the C.P.T. Committee
are holding a progressive euchre
on February 27 at 8:15 p,m, in
the Lodge hall.
It was announced the "speak
off" for the United Nations Trip
would be held in Clinton on
February 28. The District
meeting will be held April 9 at
Brussels. A banquet will also be
held at Brussels April 15 for the
Lodge members when Sister
Grace Love, Assembly Presi-
dent, will be present.
D.D,P. Mrs, Jean Bridge will
make her official visit to Amber
Rebekah Lodge April 16. Mrs.
Bridge spoke briefly con-
gratulating the Lodge on their
*anniversary and explained the
purpose of the "Travelling
Gavel". Noble Grand Mrs. Leona
Connelly of Brussels expressed
thanks from the Lodge and ex-
tended birthday greetings.

University, Bethlehem, Penn-
sylvania, received the post
February 13.
Dr. Joynt's appointment, which
is effective immediately, was'
announced by Dr. A. C. Zet-
tlemoyer, provost and vice
president.
The distinguished faculty
position will be officially known;
as the "Rathbone Professor of
International Relations."
Dr. Joynt will relinquish his
departmental chairmanship to
accept this appointment and will
return to full time teaching and
scholarly writing and research.
The new professorship is
named after M. J. Rathbone,
Lehigh alumnus and trustee, who
is retired chairman, of the board
of Standard Oil of New Jersey
(now Exxon).
Rathbone established the new
faculty post through a major gift
to Lehigh's current "New Cen-
tury Fund," a 10-year, $67-million
development campaign.
Dr. Joynt, who is on leave
during the present semester, to

serve as a Visiting Fellow at the
Center for International Studies,
Cambridge University, England,
is an internationally-recognized
scholar.
Dr. Joynt is the author of
numerous articles which have
been published in magazines of
political science, economics, and
philosophy, He is a member of
the Intarnational Studies
Association, American Political
Science Association, and the
International Institute for
Strategic Studies (London,
England).
He is an elder in the First
Presbyterian Church of
Bethlehem and has served on the
Council of Churcfrand-SoCiety for
that denerninatiOn- as Well as On
the Board of International
Affairs, National Council of
Churches.

The International Meeting of
Kippen East W.I. was held on
February 19, the anniversary of
the Women's Institute, formed in
1897, Mrs. D. Triebner was
hostess and Mrs, M. Connolly was
co-hostess,
The president, Mrs. R. Kin-
sman, opened the meeting with a
Valentine poem and one titled
"Winter on the Farm." The
members answered the roll call
by giving an interesting item
read in the newspaper about
another Women's Institute and
telling what they were wearing
from another country,
An invitation was accepted
from the Grand Bend WI for a fun
afternoon on March 20 at 2 p.m. A
donation was made to the Mental
Health Association and also to a
family in the community.
There will be a pot luck dinner
at Mrs, Kinsman's home March
4, followed by a quilting and a
Tweedsmuir Workshop.
Mrs. G. Drummond com-
mented on education and cultural
activities and Mrs. A. Hoggarthl
gave the motto, "All nations'
smile in the same language."
Mrs. V. Alderdice gave a talk
on A.C.W.W. Family night and
the Annual Fun Night will be held
April 4.
Mrs. H. Parsons conducted a
craft demonstration where
members learned to do broom-
stick crochet. Mrs, A. Hummel
conducted a contest and Mrs. C.
Pullman gave a reading. Several
international songs were sung.
Mrs. G. McLean gave courtesy
remarks. Mrs. R. Broadfoot and
Mrs. J. Chalmers served lunch

Langford M. Sc., D.D., of the
Metropolitan United Church in
London. She spoke using the
theme "For such a time as this",
using the book of Esther as her
back ground.
She said that since this year
has been declared "International
Women's Year" she was speaking
in the light of International
Womeris Year this year, to
somehow draw the best out of
women, She said men and women
are not equal, but are partners to
each other. She expressed hope
that this year would bring a new
dignity to home making and child
rearing, and there will come a
dignity of usefulness to the im-
portant partnership in the human
race.
She also expressed hope that
the UCW would spend some time
and thought on bringing the
women of the Church into focus
this year. Women should throw
their full weight into the part-
nership with men to worship God
and to up grade the importance of

Rev. Wilfred Jarvis conducted
services in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Sunday, speaking on
"Into all the World" emphasizing
missions. The Holy Communion
service will be held on Sunday,
March 9. The World Day of
Prayer service will be held in the
Hensall United Church on March
7 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. T. Reddock of
Bayfield will be the speaker.
Jack Corbett attended a con-
vention for the Fair Board held in
the Royal York Hotel, Toronto
last week. ,
4-H club decides on name
The third meeting of Hensall 4.
H Clubs was held at the home of
Mrs. Bill Fuss. Seventeen
members answered the roll call
"Show your blouse pattern and
fabric and explain why you chose
them", There was a great deal of
time spent on choosing names. It
was finally decided to call
Hensall 1, "Smart Set" and
Hensall II, "Sewing
Sweethearts". It was also
discussed what to wear at dif-
ferent occasions. The next
meeting will be held at Mrs.
Fuss's home on March 3 at 7 p.m.

The speaker said God has
called us all for some task in this
day. Look at your life, she said,
and hear yourself called for such
a time as this and give yourself.
Belva Fuss sang a solo "The
Lord's My Shepherd" ac-
companied on the organ by Mrs.
Turkheim. A special UCW choir
sang a number "Great is thy
faithfulness". Ushers for the
service were Audrey Christie and
Mildred Kyle. A social hour was
enjoyed at the conclusion 'of the
service in the Fellowship Hall:

second vice president Mary
Brintnell assisted in the service.
Sunday March 2 will be the
Sacrament of Holy Communion,
and the welcoming of membert
from other churches, and the
admission of members of the
