Pee wees win in OMHA play The Exeter pee wees took a one game lead in the first round of Ontario Minor Hockey Association playoffs with a 2-1 Sunday win over Byron. The second game was played in Exeter last night, Wednesday with the third game set for the Byron arena Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Exeter win was ac- complished in the first game in the seventh minute of a first overtime period. Mark Parsons fired the win- ning goal on passes from Jeff Fuller and Larry Dawson. Byron took a one goal lead at the eight minute mark of the second period and about six minutes later, Doug Brooks squared matters on a pass from Wayne Parsons. The Exeter pee wee: travelled to St. Thomas Wednesday to fulfill a Shamrock 'A' league commitment and suffered a 3-1 loss. The only Exeter goal was fired by Larry Dawson with passing help coming from Jeff Fuller. Rick Fifield who is the league's top scorer was at his best Sunday in leading the Jets to their win over the Kings. Fifield scored four times to up his season's total to 38. After holding a 5-1 lead at the halfway mark of the second period, the Jets let down and were holding a slim one goal margin when the teams headed for the second rest period. In the third, the Jets came out flying and scored a quick goal to again take command. First period scoring was restricted to the last five minutes and a few seconds. The London club opened the scoring at 14.46 on a fast breaking passing play. Jim Keon hit the mark on passes from Dave Gorman and Mac Westgate. At 17:46 Rick Fifield started his and the game scoring as he converted passes from Don Carter and Jeff Craig. In the next minute and a half the Jets jumped ahead 3-1. The second period was only a minute and a half old when Jack Nairn from behind the net found Pete Loveless parked all alone at the side of the net and he made no, mistake. Fifield was back in the scoring column 10 minutes later to put the Jets ahead 5-1 and then the recession hit and the Kings took over. Brian Hind, Brian Chinnick and Paul Phillips scored for the Kings to put them back into contention. Chinnick's goal was hotly disputed by the L-I club claiming the puck was deflected by a high stick. Rick Fifield worked hard to score his third goal at 2,58 of the final period. He was knocked down in front of the net but was able to propel the puck home while lying on his stomach. Don Carter and Dick Doughty assisted. A goal at the 10:43 came on a very deliberate play. Jack Nairn was behind the London net and held the puck for several seconds without being challenged. He finally flipped it out to a waiting Jim Pinnegar and the score was 7-4. The final Jets scoring splurge came in the last two minutes of play on three quick goals. Fifield completed his four goal effort on passes from Larry Haugh and Steve Proctor, Loveless scored from Doug Galloway and Terry Johnson and Pete Loveless and Larry Haugh set up Doug Galloway.
