Open House was held at the
Dashwood Community Centre on
January 26th 1976 for the Golden
Wedding Anniversary of Mr. :&
Mrs. Henry Becker, RR 1,'
Dashwood, Ontario. The couple
were married on January 24th
1925 at St. John's Lutheran.
Church Parish by Rev. Roberts.
The couple's attendants were the
bride's sister Clara and her late
husband Rudolph Petznick,
Mrs. Becker, the former Annie
and Mrs. Don Thompson (Ila)
Brinsley and one son
predeceased. Also nine grand-
children and 11 great grand-
children.
They received flowers, gifts
and many lovely cards and
congratulations from their many
friends. They also received
messages of congratulations

The C.G.I.T. began studies on
the Baby Sitting Course when
they met on Tuesday evening for
their regular meeting. Mrs, Alvin
Lobb is assisting Mrs, Beaton
with the course.

Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Elliott
returned home last Wednesday
following a trip to Marco Island,
Florida.
Mr. & Mrs. Harold Taylor of
Exeter were visitors on Wed-
nesday of last week with Mr. &
Mrs. Fred Bowden.
Attend funeral
Mrs. Madeline Doherty of
Detroit passed away suddenly in
her home on January 151
She had been in poor health for
some time, Her husband
predeceased her in November
1973.
She is survived by one son
Richard and daughter-in-law
Shirley (Coates) Doherty and
three grandhcildren Denise,
Debra and Richie, all of Mt.
Clemens, Michigan.
Keith Coates of Centralia,
Wilma of London and Wally
Smolanski of Kitchener attended
the funeral on January 18. Keith
acted as pallbearer.
Former Resident passes away
Mrs. Almena McLaughlin
passed away in St. Andrews
Hospital, Midland on December
11, in her 88th year.
The former Almena Huxtable,
she was born and spent the early
years of her life in Centralia. She
married Mr. R.S, McLaughlin in
London and moved to Midland
where she operated a hair
dressing salon for 55 years before
retiring some time ago.
Mrs. McLaughlin was
predeceased by her husband and
the couple had no children.
Services were held at Nicholl's
Funeral Home, Midland on
December 14, Rev. J.L, Self
officiating.
Hold annual
at Centralia

CENTRALIA
The annual congregational
meeting of the Centralia United
Church was held in the
schoolroom of the church on
Sunday following the morning
service and was preceded by a
pot luck lunch. There were 32 in
attendance.
Rev. Beaton opened the
meeting with prayer, Mrs. Ray
Mills was appointed secretary for
the meeting. The minutes of last
year's annual meeting were
approved as read,
Annual reports were read and
showed a successful year in the
various organizations of the
church,
A review of the insurance
policies and the renewal of the
lease on the church shed and
some necessary church repairs
were to be left in the hands of the
church trustees for study.
Rev. Beaton is to call a meeting
of the trustees for this purpose.
The minister reported on the
improvements to the manse, Two
bedrooms had been carpeted, a
new stove had been purchased,
some electrical work had been
done and thanks was extended to
Bob Blair, Elmer Powe, Sam
Skinner, Earl Dixon, Lorne and
Keith Hern and Cliff Jaques for
cleaning the well and to Earl
Dixon for the new pump house.
It was suggested that we try to
achieve the Mission and Service
Fund target for 1975 as outlined
by Presbytery and involve as
many organizations of the church
as possible in this effort.
It was decided to adopt the
every family plan in purchasing
the church Observer.
Mrs. James Gaunt was ap-
pointed assistant treasurer and
Richard Shoebottom's name was
added to the Board of Stewards.
Ken Hodgins was asked to

Becker is the son of the late Mr.
& Mrs. Henry Becker Sr.
They have two daughters and
two sons, Lorne, Mrs. Wilmer
(Martha) Pfaff, Allan, all of
Dashwood and Mrs. Donald
(Shirley) Glanville of Huron
Park. They have thirteen
grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
Mr. & Mrs. Becker have farm-
ed all their married life at their
present address.
The family held a dinner party
in their honour Friday evening at
the Dashwood Hotel.
Congratulations were received
from Governor-General Leger,
Robert Stanfield, Prime
Minister Trudeau, M.P. Robert
McKinley and M.P.P. Jack
Riddell.
