goals for the winners.
Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
One definite change has been
made in the schedule affecting
the Jets, A scheduled February 7
trip to Preston has been delayed
until March 4, Jets manager Don
Urbshott said this week he ex-
pected an earlier postponed
game with London would be
played in Lambeth on March 4.
A third period decision
Two goals in the third period
were enough to give the Jets their
5-3 win in Durham Sunday af-
ternoon. Each team had scored
two goals in the first period and
the Jets scored the only goal of
the middle frame.
The game was only a minute
old when Steve Proctor hit the
mark on passes from Larry
Haugh and Doug Galloway. It
took Durham veteran Jim Aitken
only 36 seconds to tie the score.
The Jets went ahead again at
6,37 when a Durham player was
in the penalty box, Terry John-
ston finished off the successful
play started by Doug Galloway
Wrestling club
is organized
A South Huron Wrestling
Association has been organized
and with the co-operation of two
other recreation groups will be
staging a lottery and stag to
obtain funds for their projects_
Funds from the lottery to be
held during a Stag at the Exeter
arena on April 25 will be used to
purchase a large mat for use by
the wrestling group and the
Exeter and district gymnastics
group and the Exeter and district
judo club.
The mat area to be purchased
is a large one and will cost in the
neighbourhood of $4,000.
The Wrestling Association has
been set up to accommodate
about 25 former high school
wrestlers in the area and to
promote wrestling for boys from
six to 14 years of age.
It is expected the minor
program will begin in March
each Saturday morning at South
Huron District High School. All
public and separate schools in the
area will be contacted regarding
the program.
Art Westelaken has been
named president of the wrestling
group. Barry Miller is the vice-
president and Doug Ellison
wrestling coach at SHDHS is the
secretary-treasurer.
Any former wrestlers wishing
to participate or assist in the
minor program or any other
interested persons are asked to
contact any member of the
executive,
Tickets for the lottery are
selling for $10 each and may be
obtained by any member of the
three sponsoring groups.
and Larry Haugh.
Dale Rahn scored again for
Durham at 9.11 to put the teams
back on even terms.
The only goal of the second
period came on a wicked slap
shot from Jeff Craig after he took
a pass from Jack Nairn directly
from the faceoff. Craig's shot
went right through the webbing of
the net,
Dale Rahn was back early in
the thirdperiod with his second
goal of the day to again tie the
score this time at 3-3.
Jamie Robb fired the eventual
winning goal at 3.16 as he took a
pass from Rick Fifield on a hard
shot right along the ice.
About four minutes later, Dick
Doughty combined with Pete
Loveless and Jack Nairn to give
the Jets a two goal bulge.
Immediately after Doughty's
successful shot, he was slashed
across the face by Joe Grundy of
the Huskies. Grundy received a
five minute slashing assessment
and a match penalty.
Sonny Pennington was in goal
for the Jets and turned in a strong
performance.
Another good third period
It was the same story for the
Jets in Friday's win over the
Screaming Eagles with three
goals in the third period.
Rick Fifield scored the winning
goal at the 25 second mark of the
third period as he tipped in a shot
by Jim Blake. Jamie Robb also
assisted.
Less than a minute later, Steve
Proctor assured the victory as he
completed a play with Don Carter
and Terry Johnston.
At 15.09 of the third period,
Robb again set Blake up for a
shot and this time Barry
Bay nham was in the right spot to
tip the puck into the net.
Each team scored a goal in the
first period. Doug Galloway
banged in a Terry Johnston
rebound for the Jet score on a
power play and Darrell Graham
replied for New Hamburg.
In the second period, Doug
Galloway, Don Carter, Barry
Baynham and Jim Pinnegar
scored for the Jets while Bob
Zehr took care of the New
Hamburg counting with four
successful shots.
Pinnegar's goals came with the
Jets playing two men short.
Similarily, New Hamburg scored
two of their goals while the Jets
were applying power play
pressure.
The Jets while not taking over
until the third period in a scoring
way outshot the Screaming
Eagles 52-31.
Rick Fifield of the Jets has a
good lead in the individual
scoring department. Fifield has
34 goals and 19 assists for 53
points, 10 more than team-mate
