The January meeting of the
Women's Institute was held in the
Community Centre Wednesday
evening. After the recital of the
Ode and Collect; roll call was
answered by each member
reading the names of two or three
countries which belong to the
United Nations.
The Kitchen Committee gave a
report of year-end clean-up and
inventory. It was decided to in-
vestigate the possibility of
sponsoring a princess for the
London Farm Show, and to cater
for the Federation of Agriculture
banquet in February.
Mrs. Russell Finkbeiner was
chairman for the program, Dale
Lamport showed pictures taken
during his visit to Australia, New
Zealand and theFiji Islands.
Mrs. Finkbeiner, Mrs. Irvin
Finkbeiner, Mrs. Eric Fink-
beiner and Mrs. Aaron Wein
reviewed the United Nations,
what it is, where it is, the General
Assembly Hall, the Conference
Building, the landscaping and
furnishings. Mrs: Russell Fink-
beiner discussed the motto "A
man's feet should be planted in
his country, but his eyes should
survey the world,"
Lunch was served by the
March group.
4-H achievement
4-H Achievement Day was held
in Stephen Central School
Saturday afternoon, Jane
Pengilly and Mrs. Suzanne Clark
presented honours to the
members.
Winners of County Honours
were KathyDinney, Joan Hodge,
Denise Glavin; of Provincial
Honours: Kathleen Gielen and
Mary Agnes Dietrich.
Personals
Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Treitz of
Marsden, Saskatchewan, are
celebrating their 50th wedding
anniversary on February 1. Mr.
Treitz was formerly from
Crediton,
Several of our citizens are ill
with influenza.
Mrs. Walter Weber is a patient
at Victoria Hospital.
Mrs. Joe Bullock has returned
from a stay of several weeks with
her daughter and her husband,
Mr. & Mrs. Edward Darbey of
Willowdale. While visiting with
her family she was able to
celebrate the arrival of a great
grandson, Andrew McAllister, a
great great grandson for Mrs.
Isaac Gower.

family, Whitby spent the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. John
Scott.
Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Wallis and
family Kitchener were Sunday
visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Alton
Wallis,

entertained Mr. & Mrs. Bill
Morley and Mr. & Mrs. Gordon
Johnson on Friday evening at the
Steak house.
Sunday evening guests with
Mr. & Mrs. MacLeod Mills were
Mr. & Mrs. Ray Mills, Centralia
and Margery Morley to celebrate
the Mills' wedding anniversary.

were hosts for the euchre party

returned home after a three week
holiday in Florida,
Robert Clark has returned
after a fortnight to San Fran-
cisco, California where he visited
his aunt, Mrs. Myrtle
Weatherdon and cousin Tom
Weatherdon.

family and Mr. & Mrs. Ron
Carruthers and family, have
returned from a holiday trip to
New Orleans, Brownsville, Texas
and Mexico.

Attendance in winter sports in
