Brunsdon, general manager of Ontario Mobile Home Plant, Bendix Home Systems at Hensall is the winner of a special distinguished achievement award from The Bendix. Cor- poration, one of 13 awards presented outstanding managers of the multinational firm each year. The awards were presented at the,firm's annual awards dinner at Southfield Michigan, by W. Michael Blumenthal, Bendix chairman, president and chief executive officer. The special distinguished achievement award recognizes Brunsdon's outstanding per- formance as a member of Bendix Home Systems, an operating unit of Bendix. William C. Purple, president of the Bendix Aerospace- Electronics Group, won the Bendix Distinguished Achievement Award, Choir leader honoured Sunday morning in Hensall United Church, the Congregation celebrated 50 years of the United Church of Canada, and also celebrated 50 years of service to the choir by a very faithful member, Harry Horton. A gold plaque with Harry's name on and the number, of years served will be placed in the Church. Harry sang two lovely solos, "The stranger of Galilee" and "In the garden", to mark the occasion. The choir sang the anthem "Praise" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Turkheim. Rev. Don Beck preached on the ser- mon topic "Cool it, man", During a social hour after the service, Harry and Annie Horton were the guests of honour in the Fellowship Hall. Ian McAllister, Chairman of the Worship and Membership Committee, congratulated Harry and presented him with a 50 year pin and Mrs. Horton was presented with a gift also. Three C's hold crokinole party The Three "C's" from Carmel, Cromarty, and Caven Presbyterian churches met on Thursday January 14 at Cromarty Presbyterian Church for a crokinole party. Bob Taylor won the prize for men's high, Bert Thompson for men's low, Eleanor Thompson for ladies high and Mary Dougall for ladies low. Al Hoggarth got the prize for getting the most 20's. Betty Lou Norris conducted a numbers contest with Jim Dougall scoring highest. Next month will be the first birthday of the group, and the meeting will be held on February 25 at 8 p.m. at Caven Presbyterian Church in Exeter. All interested couples from the three congregations are invited to come and join in on this first birthday celebration. Our 12-year-old son was having difficulty leading 'his stocky, aggressive partner at dancing school. When the teacher offered him some friendly criticism, he countered with, "What do you do if the girl has power steering?" Noble Grand Mrs. Margaret Consitt presided at the meeting of Amber Rebekah. Lodge on Wednesday evening assisted by the Vice Grand Mrs, Bertha 'MacGregor, who reported for the visiting committee. Cards of thanks were received and Birthday Greetings were extended to Sisters .Mrs.Alice Ferg, Mrs. Grace Thompson and Mrs, Rose Broderick, Mrs,Dorothy Corbett gave the treasurer's report. Plans were made to hold a progressive euchre party in February and also to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the Institution of the Lodge. The Initiation Degree will be Pe44044a14 Leonard Erb of Hensall and Elmore McBride of Exeter, members of the Hay Mutual Fire Insurance Company, attended a Fire Insurance Adjusters Course in Bolton this past week. A surprise farewell party was held recently for Mr. & Mrs. Russell Brock at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jack Brintnell. The evening was spent playing cards, and a social hour followed. The address was read by Mrs. Jack Brintnell and Mrs. Alvin Cole presented the couple with a gift to which they replied fittingly. St, Pauls Church Notes An evening service was held at St. Pauls Anglican Church on Sunday. Rev, G. A, Anderson based his sermon on the miracle performed at Cana of Galilee. The greatest event and truth of this story is the fact that the faith of the disciples was strengthened. The disciples believed on him because they saw the power of God. The great lesson to be learned by this story, is the difference Christ makes, just as Jesus caused the water to be turned into wine, He also is able to change our dull lives and to give us a new joy of living. The Forrest Orchestra ac- companied the singing of the hymns, and also played "We have an anchor", Following the service, the Annual Vestry meeting was held. The Treasurer reported a very successful year with all obligations being met. Officers for 1975 are - Rectors Warden, E. J. RENA CALDWELL KIPPEN The members of Kippen East WI entertained their friends to a pot luck dinner in the Legion Hall, Hensall, January 16. After a delicious dinner the president, Mrs. R. Kinsman read several poems and welcomed the Baptism at Carmel Church Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Colin John Finlay Skea, son of Mr. & Mrs. John Finlay Skea was baptized at the service, The annual congregational meeting will be held on Friday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. & Mrs. Keith MacLean of Seaforth, Mr. & Mrs. John Skea Jr. and son Cohn of Huron Park were recent guests with Mr, & Mrs. John Skea, Mrs. Ernie Davis is enjoying a two weeks' vacation in Florida, A special meeting of Amber Rebekah Lodge will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 1975 for the purpose of presenting the Initiation Degree on a candidate. ACW enjoy soap contest The regular meeting of St. Pauls A.C.W. was held Thursday afternoon at the home of Miss Olive Petty. The President Mrs, Anderson opened the meeting with a prayer followed by the Lord's prayer. The minutes were read and approved. Roll call was answered with a New Years text. Thank you notes from those receiving Christmas boxes were read, also a letter from prayer partner, Captain Corey. Olive Petty gave the study book "Don't put faith in money". Mrs, Forrest and Mrs. Anderson read the scripture. A soap contest was 'enjoyed by all. Everyone repeated the closing prayer. Refreshments were served and a social hour enjoyed. The social committee in charge were Mrs, Elizabeth Riley, Mrs. Dorothy Parker, Mrs, Bertha MacGregor and Mrs. Aldeen Volland. members and their guests. The members answered the Roll Call by naming the flowers carried or worn at their wedding and also by introducing their guests. A donation was made to the Save theSightFund, Family night was postponed until early in April. Kippen East will sponsor four 4-H Clubs in the next project, "What shall I wear?" Mrs. G. Drummond, Public Relations Officer, presented gifts to Mrs. D. Brodie, Mrs. Bean, Mrs. Al Hoggarth, Mrs. H. Parsons, Mrs. J. Chalmers and Mrs. M, Connolly, leaders of the last club, Mrs. Charles Eyre commented on the motto, "The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it." Readings were given by Rose Hummel, Verda Sinclair, Phyllis Parsons, Grace Pepper, Charlotte Pullman, Ruby Triebner. Francis Kinsman played a piano instrumental and Mona Alderdice conducted contests. Margaret Hoggarth and Grace Drummond presented a humorous skit. Rena Caldwell and Mary Broadfoot conducted a dance session. Ruby Triebner conducted the Auction Sale. Francis Kinsman gave Courtesy Remarks. Hostesses were Mrs. Angus Hummel and Mrs. Al Hoggarth. It was a most enjoyable meeting. Personals Mrs. Grace Siemon, Kitchener, has been convalescing at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Robert McGregor. The sympathy of the com- munity is extended to Mrs. Keith Pressey and her family in the loss of a husband and father. Those who have enjoyed a holiday in warmer climates are Mr. & Mrs. Alex McBeath, Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Hendrick, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bell, Mr. & Mrs. Glen Bell, Mr. & Mrs. John Anderson and Mr. & Mrs, Emerson Anderson.
