The Vice Grand reported for
the visiting committee and Mrs.
Unit IV of Hensall U.C.W. met
on December 5 with twenty-one
members present, Mrs. James
McAllister opened the meeting
with scripture, followed by a
story of love of home, love of a
neighbour and love of service,
The scripture reading was
taken from Luke and followed by
a hymn. The devotional,
prepared by Mrs. E, Rowe was
read by Mrs. H. Caldwell. It dealt
with the Advent of God in the
form of Christ — a man, and the
hope of his second coming. Mrs.
Laird Mickle played two lovely
selections on the piano,
The collection was taken by the
hostesses Mrs. Shaddick and
Mrs. Purdy, and was dedicated
by Mrs, McAllister. Mrs.
McAllister closed the old year
with odds and ends of information
on the Bible Society, Foster
parents plan, Care, Honduras
Relief and gave stories of
Christmas of other days by
prominent politicians,
The treasurers report was
given by Mrs. Sherritt. Hymn 55
was sung and the lunch was
served by Mrs. Slade and her
committee.

advent candle at, the Advent II
service in Hensall United Church
Sunday morning. Rev. Don Beck
preached on the sermon topic
"Generations Apart", and the
choir sang the anthem
"Shepherds on the Hillside",
accompanied on the organ by
Mrs. Turkheim,
The baskets of flowers were
placed from the funeral of the
late Henry Fuss. Next Sunday,
December 15 at 11 a.m. will be
the White Gift Service. The
Sunday School sessions have
been cancelled so that the
children may take part in the
service, At 7:30 p.m. will be a
festival of Christmas music in
the form of a Carol service,
Presbyterian Church news
Rev. W. D. Jarvis conducted
Communion service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Mrs. Bevan Bonthron was
received into membership by
Certificate. Mrs. Malcolm
Dougall led the choir in the
Christmas music.
Next Sunday will' be "White
Gift" Sunday. On December 22 a
carol service led by members of
the three choirs will be held at
Caven Presbyterian Church,
Exeter at 8:00 p.m. Everyone is
welcome.

singing was led by Mrs. Evelyn

Irene Blackwell directed
charades and Mrs. Dorothy
Parker gave a reading entitled
"A Christmas Story." Gifts were
exchanged from the Christmas
tree and a social hour enjoyed

A large number of neighbours
and friends assembled in the
school-room of Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Satur-
day evening in honor of Beth
Troyer of Sarnia bride-elect of
this month. The room was
beautifully decorated for the
occasion.
The program was arranged by
Mrs. Bert Thompson and
Beatrice and Sylvia Bell and Mrs.
Robert Taylor.
Beatrice Thompson presided
for the following numbers: a
quartette by the Pepper sisters; a
reading "How To Cook a
Husband" by Mrs. Robert
Taylor; piano solos by Donna
Taylor; reading by Sylvia Bell;
guitar selections by Kathy Love;
musical number by the Pepper
sisters.
Contests were enjoyed followed
by Carol singing. The address to
the bride-elect was read by
Sylvia Bell and the bride was
presented with many
miscellaneous gifts, for which
she expressed sincere thanks.
When Miss Troyer transferred
from Victoria Hospital, London to
Sarnia General Hospital, she was
presented with gifts.
District obituaries
Henry Fuss of Hensall passed
away in South Huron Hospital on
December 4, 1974 in his 83rd year.
Mr. Fuss was born in Hay
Township and got all his
schooling in Zurich, He farmed
on the Parr Line, south of
Hillsgreen until 1961 when he and
his wife moved to Hensall and
have resided there since. He was
a member of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church in Zurich.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Elizabeth Cochrane, one
daughter, Margaret of Honolulu,
two sons, MIliam of Hensall,
James of Alliston, three sisters,
Mrs. Lavina Reichert, Mrs.
Henry (Violet) Atkins, both of RR
2, Hensall, "and Mrs. Albert
(Margaret) Hess of Zurich. Two
sisters and one brother
predeceased him. Also surviving
are six grandchildren,
The funeral was held on
December 7 from the Bonthron
Funeral Chapel in Hensall with
Pastor A.C, Blackwell of-
ficiating. Interment St. Peter's
Lutheran Cemetery, Zurich.
Pallbearers were Ken Addison,
Mac Cameron, Clarence
Reichert, Ivan Reichert, Bill
Grigg and Wilmer Adkins.
CORNELIUS FABER
At University Hospital, London
on Friday, December 6, 1974,
Cornelius Faber of RR 3 Exeter,
in his 60th year.
Beloved husband of the former
Jean Smallacombe. Dear father
of Stephen, Waterloo; Mrs.
Patrick (Lynn) McCann, Mt.
Carmel; and Patricia, Guelph,
Brother of Rochus and Egbert,
both of RR 3 Kippen. Also sur-
viving is 1 grandson.

Hensall, where funeral service
was held December 9 with Rev.
Don Beck officiating. Interment
in Hensall Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken, Ross
and Russell Faber, Ron and Bill
Dougall and Bob Pryde.
Huron was present and con-
ducted the election and in-
