Mt. Carmel ladies meet The December meeting of the C.W.L. was held in the Mt. Carmel Gym last Tuesday evening. The president Mrs. Greg Fleming opened 'meeting with prayer. Mrs. Pat Glavin gave a report on the treasury standing. Mrs. Wm. McCann read the minutes of previous meeting and the correspondence. Rev. Father J. Mooney P.P. gave a report to date on the decorating of the church and a talk on the choosing of the new rug for the church. Father ac- cepted an offer from the C.W.L. to assist in repairing the Rectory in the future months, About twenty-five Christmas boxes were distributed to Parish shut-ins and sick friends. Prayer and a lovely lunch brought the meeting to a close. Personals Vera Dietrich, Hyde Park, visited with her mother Mrs. Ada Dietrich and Donald last week. Mrs. Kathleen Houlahan has returned home from a two week plane trip to the Holy Land. While on her tour she spent a few days in Rome, Jerusalem and Brussels. The weather was beautiful while over there and this made her tour that much more enjoyable. Mrs. Dave McCallum and family, Alberta, flew home to visit with her father, Mr, Chas Dietrich who is a patient in St, Joseph's Hospital, London also Larry Dietrich, Ottawa visited his father. Geraldine Boland, Preston spent the weekend with her parents Mr. & Mrs, Clem Boland and Joe. Mr. & Mrs. Clem McCann and `family dined last Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Donald McCann and family in Watford. Mrs. Hubert Carey visited for a few days last week in Guelph with Mr. & Mrs. Leo Girard and family. Mr. & Mrs. Larry Carey and Louise, London dined on Monday with Mr, & Mrs. Joe Carey, Lorraine Hall was a weekend visitor with her parents Mr, & Mrs. Jack Hall. Our Synipathy is extended to Earl Breen in the loss of his wife Nora of London; and to Mrs. Pat McCann in the loss of her father Mr. Cornelius Faber, Hensall, Times-Advocate, December 12, 1974 Page 9 GRAND BEND The Formal Floret 4-H girls held their eighth meeting Tuesday evening at the Alhambra Hall with 11 members present. At this meeting they had 25 guests when they entertained their parents and Women's Institute members, Their roll call was answered by telling, "What I have gained from this project." Some of their reference files and 4-H Record books were on display for guests to see, Debbie Ford gave a talk about this project "The Club girls en- tertains", their experiences, fun and learning. Greetings were brought to the girls from Miss Jane Pengilley, Home Economist from Clinton, and also from the W.I. President, Mrs. Alec Hamilton. The girls served a buffet style lunch with hot casserole dishes, desserts and other things they had learned to make. Orpha Christmas Party The Orpha Club held their Christmas party at the home of By MRS. HAROLD DAVIS KIRKTON Vern Doupe, son of Mr. & Mrs. Junior Doupe has returned home after having an appendix operation in St. Marys Memorial Hospital. The U.C.W. of Kirkton en- tertained their senior citizens beginning with a turkey dinner. The afternoon was spent in playing euchre. Prize winners were: ladies high, Mrs. Howard Bearss; lone hands, Mrs. Pearl Stephens; mens high, Herman Paynter; lone hands, Jas. Sperling. Mrs. Harold Switzer and Derek have returned home after being patients in St. Joseph's London following a car accident. Kirkton Horticultural Society The annual meeting of the Kirkton Horticultural Society was held in the Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre on Tuesday evening with a large crowd in attendance. Each member attending received a package of gladiolus bulbs. The meeting opened with singing Christmas carols. Mrs. Clarence Schraider introduced the guest speakers, Rev. and Mrs. Bert Daynard of Staffa who showed pictures and told about their trip to Russia and East Africa, These were very in- teresting and several questions were asked. They were thanked by Mrs. Jim MacDougald. The secretary, Mrs. Elson Mrs. Roy Flear on Tuesday night. All the articles were on display for the shower for Children's Aid in Sarnia. Meeting opened with a Christmas hymn and Mrs. Lawrence Curts read "The Ageless Story", Winners of games were Mrs. Jim Orr, Mrs. Mary Ravelle, Mrs. Ken Roberts and Mrs, Stuart Pole. Mrs. Susie Devine read a poem "My Christmas List," Mrs. John Allister closed the meeting with a Christmas thought. Door prize winners were Mrs, G.S. Todd, Mrs, L. Seniors Party The Senior Citizens held their Christmas meeting Wednesday afternoon at the Village Inn Retreat with 30 attending. They opened by singing several Christmas hymns. Mr. & Mrs. Roy Morenz, Glenda and Tammy spent the American Thanskgiving weekend in Farmington Michigan with Mr, & Mrs, George Maier Jr. and family, but did not arrive home until Tuesday afternoon due to a 20 inch snowfall there.
