There has been no ratepayers meeting. It could be said that very few would attend, perhaps this is due to the fact that the reports of council to the local media is meagre and leaves little or no information as to what is really achieved in the meetings. The campaign is on and the incumbents are asking for your support based on the two year's record and very few of the voters will have any idea what that is. This puts the incumbents and the aspirants on an equal campaign basis, voters then vote on a personality basis or regional choosing. I think if we look back a few years ago, the Zurich Chamber of Commerce and the local weeklies brought to light an impending disaster which could have hap- pened in this area by the dumping of poisonous wastes from the refineries from Sarnia into drilled wells in the Township. We all know that this brought the largest crowd of ratepayers at a meeting in the township hall. Needless to say the problem was resolved. I might add that I am not suggesting that there is any cover-ups in respect to the present council. I think a good example of good reporting to the media is the Exeter council where it is reported almost verba turn. This creates an enlightened public. Unless we strive to make available all the problems and the achievements of the council we will find ourselves into regional government and we will have nobody to blame but our- selves. A little food for thought: The high cost of living would be less trouble if people quit buying the necessary luxuries and stuck to the essential necessities; Food would cost a lot less if we could get a rebate on all the garbage we get with our groceries. Being on lime may be a good Wisdom requires that we pour a little oil of delicate courtesy on the wheels of friendship. I Thanks For Shopping at McKnights Len McKnight & Sonti MEN'S WEAR 235-2320 .„.
