tripleheader at the Exeter arena
Sunday night the Lucan bantams
downed Exeter 9-3, the atom
teams from the two towns played
to a 1-1 tie and the pee wee game
ended in a 2-2 draw.
Danny Becker was the Exeter
goal getter in the atom game
while Steven Glenn replied for
Lucan on a pass from Jeff
Shipley,
Scoring for Exeter in the pee
wee deadlock were Peter Tuckey
and John Stephens. The Lucan
marksmen were Brad DeGraw
and Mark Edginton.
Ron Glenn scored twice to lead
the Lucan bantam scoring.
Notching one goal each were
Martin Clarke, Martin Duenk,
Calvin McCallum, Kyle Pederson
and Jim Hayter.
The Exeter marksmen were

Late in the second period after
Kincardine had come back to
even the score, the Pooley
brothers teamed up up to put the
locals back in front. Perry was
the marksman with help from
Paul.
In the third period Kincardine
scored four times while the
Exeter youngsters could hit the
mark only twice. -
Brian Mercer converted a pass
from Randy Parsons and Perry
Pooley scored on 'a three-way
effort with Dave Bogart and
David Atthill.
St. Thomas pulled their goalie
and went with six forwards in the
last 47 seconds in an attempt to
get even. They were helped by
two Exeter penalties but goalie
Paul Gaiser was able to keep the
tying goal from being scored,
The exhibition bantam game
with Kincardine was close from
start to finish with first one team
and then the other holding a slim
lead,
The Exeter club took a 2-0 lead
at the end of the first period on
goals by Paul Pooley and Paul
Van Gerwen. Pooley fired his
goal on a pass from David Atthill
in the first minute of play,
Association Senior Continental
league hockey game Sunday
afternoon,
On home ice at the Ilderton
arena the Jets were defeated 9-6
by the Preston Jesters. The jets
season record now reads three
victories and one loss.
The Jets will be back in, action
on two occasions this week.
Friday night they travel to
Durham to meet their old arch
rivals the Durham Huskies and
Sunday night at 8 p.m. they will
be back in Ilderton to face the
Woodstock Royals.
Fail to recover
In Sunday's loss to Preston the
Lucan-Ilderton club were on the
short end of a 6-0 score by the 12
minute mark of the second period
and were never able to really get
back in the game.
The first period ended 2-0 with
Tom Watkins and Dave May
registering'for Preston. Early in
the middle frame May came back
with two more successful shots
and Randy King and Bob
Hetherington also counted to
bring the Jets deficit to six goals.
Before the second period was
over Rick Fifield put the Jets on
the scoreboard for the first time
as he completed a passing
combination with Terry Johnson
and Don Carter.
Goals came thick and fast in
the third period with the goal
lights blinking on eight occasions.
At the 12 second mark Pete
D'ArcyputiPreston,backinto a six
goal lead.
In the next seven itninutes the
Jets started to roll and were able
to score three times and cut the
Preston margin to three goals but
that was the closest they were
able to come.
At 1.19 ,Jamie Robb scored on a
paSs directly from the face-off
circle from Jacques Cousineau.
Next came Rii.k Fifield com-
pleting a three-way effort with
Bill Fairbairn and Terry John-
son,
Shortly after the eight minute
mark, Doug Galloway was able to
put the puck in the Preston net
from a scramble. Assists went to
Jamie Robb and Bill Dunnell.
In the final half of the period,
each team was able to score two
goals. Doug May fired his fourth
goal of the game and Pete D'Arcy
notched his second to complete
the Preston total.
Don Carter fired both closing
goals for the Jets. The first came
on passes from Rick Fifield and
the second with passing help
froth Bill Fairbairn,
In the shots on goal depart-
ment, the Preston club led 35-30.

In two Shamrock minor league
"A" tripleheaders the Exeter pee
wees and bantams each won a
game while the midgetS loSt both
contests.
Wednesday at the Exeter arena
St. Thomas took the pee wee
game by a score of 3-0 and the
midget contest 4-1 while Exeter
was best in the bantam game by a
2-1 count,
Monday night back in St.
Thomas the pee wee score was
reversed with Exeter winning 5-3
and St. Thomas taking the
bantam game 5-2. St. Thomas
won in midget 3-0.
In a Saturday exhibition game
in Kincardine the Exeter ban-
tams dropped a close 6-5 decision
to Kincardine.
In. the Monday pee wee win
over St. Thomas, three Exeter
goals in the last five minutes of
play assured the victory.
Larry Dawson fired what
proved to be the winning goal on a
pass from Mark Parsons after
Jeff Fuller had tied the score on a
three-way effort with Ed Willis
and David Bell.
The fifth Exeter goal was fired
by Mark Parsons with assists
going to Wayne Parsons and
Doug Fletcher.
,,Scoring first period Exeter
markers were Larry Dawson and
Wayne Parsons.
The . bantam game produced
only one first period goal with
Perry Pooley registering for
Exeter on passes from Paul
Pooley and Dennis Preszcator.
St. Thomas scored two quick
goals in the early minutes of the
second period and added another
in the third before Paul Pooley
converted a pass from Randy
Parsons for the final Exeter
marker.
The only Exeter goal in the 4-1.
Wednesday midget loss to St.
Thomas came late in the third
period on a goal by John Van
Gerwen. The assist went to Peter
Kincaid.
The Exeter bantams came
back from an early deficit to
score Wednesday's 2-1 won over
St. Thomas with single scores in
the second and third period.
Paul Pooley took a pass from
brother Perry to notch the tying
goal and Randy Parsons con-
verted a pass from Brian Mercer
to get the winning marker with
eight minutes left , in the game.
