Tentative ,plans were made for
the annual Christmas Vesper
Service date to be set at the next
meeting, Bible study on "The
Disciples" was started.
Planning for
anniversary
The Official Board of the
Lucan-Clandeboye charge of the
United Church of Canada met on
Tuesday evening in the Lucan
Church to make plans for
celebrating the 50th anniverary
of the National U.C. in 1975.
Rev, Ewart Madden conducted
a "Head, Heart & Hand" Bible
Study on Luke 15:1-7 and various
members of the Board read
anniversary suggestions from
headquarters. The Board agreed
tha4 the :story of tie- local
churches should be updated,
banners should be made and a
poster contest held between the
Sunday Church School students
for display in prominent places in
the villages. Many other
suggestions were read to be
discussed later. The
copgregation will be asked to
piece their suggestions in a box in
the Narthex.
A general steering committee
was appointed, namely Stewart
McCallum Ron King, Dale
Froats and Iva Hodgins from
Lucan, and Betty Coughlin and
Gerald Lynn from Clandeboye,
with power to add,
.The filmstrip "Calling Canada
to Christ" was shown and
discussed with a view to holding a
weekend visitation of all United
church familes, together with a
team of visitors from London
area, to be followed with a
"mini" Crusade, in the Spring.
This plan was given approval by
a very small margin, and will be
discussed further.

Party foods
discussed
The "Party Poppers" meeting
at St. Patrick's School, discussed
party foods and decided to hold
their party on Saturday,
November 16th. Barbecues,
buffets and picnics came under
discussion and individual cup-
cakes were decorated with Marie
Haygarth and Pam Moor,
making the icing.
All record books are due on
November 28th. The members
will meet tonight, the 14th, to
make final plans for their party
on the 16th.
The "Eti-quettes" met at the
home of Sheryl Noyes on
Saturday morning and devoted
their time to the same
discussions topic as the "Party
Poppers". Lonnie Sockett and
Kim Flood helped demonstrate
decorating the cupcakes, uaing t;
the "butter cake" recipe.
On Monday, the "Eti-quettes"
4-H members held a very sue.,
cessful skating party at the
Lucan Arena. The girls met at the
home of assistant leader Lynn
Stanley, to leave their hot dishes
for the potluck supper to follow,
and proceeded to the arena. They
played a game of broom ball and
several variations of tag,
Returning to Lynn's they en-
joyed the supper of such dishes as
spaghetti casseroles, scalloped
potatoes, pizza, etc., and for
dessert, brownies, German tea
squares, chocolate cake and
peanut butter cookies, all made
by the members themselves. The
party concluded with games, also
planned by the girls.
The next meeting will take)
place on November 16th at the
home of Sheila Smith.

The Lucan Ho Jo's evened their
record at two wins and two losses
in OHA Intermediate "C" play
when they defeated Belmont 8-5.
Gord Hardy, Bob Evans and Rick
Funston paced the locals with two
goals each while Dennis Burt and
Rick Daigle added the singles.
Lucan's next home game will he
Monday November 18 when they
host Forest, with game time at
8:30.
The Lucan Irish in the league
Junior D stretched their un-
beaten streak to fqur games with
a win and a tie in play over the
past week.
Wednesday the Irish trounced
Strathroy Falcons before the
home fans 10-2. Lucan led 1-0
after one period of play and 4-0
going into the third frame. Mike
Wraith scored Lucan's first
period goal while Ron and Randy
Funston and Ed Robb connected
in the middle frame.
In the third period Ed Robb
scored two goals to .actijeye his
hat trick while singles went to
Brent Harvey, Mike Wraith,
Craig Corman and Brad Taylor.
Ron Steeper's bid for a shutout
ended when a Strathroy player
knocked in a rebound early in the
third period.
Friday night the Irish travelled
to Exeter and came home with
one point as the teams battled to
a 7-7 tie. Lucan jumped into an
early 2-0 lead on two power play
goals with Mike Wraith and Brian
McNeil finding the range only to
have the Hawks score three
consecutive goals to take a 3-2
lead going into the second period.
The Irish outscored the Hawks
2-1 in the middle frame as the
teams headed into the third
period deadlocked at four goals
apiece. Lucan goal scorers in the
House league
now over 200
Boys and girls committee
chairman, Lion Gary Mariders,
reported at the Lions Club
meeting on Monday evening that
registration for houseleague
hockey had reached 181 with an
anticipated registration of 200.
Monday, December 16 was set
as the date for the family
Christmas party and it was
reported that repairs are being
made to the roof of the Park
building. Vandals had torn many
shingles off the roof during the
summer. Parks Committee
Chairman Lion Don Leitch also
reported that the new Park gates
were completed at a cost of just
under $2,000.
Fair Committee Chairman,
Lion Jim Young informed the
members that Hank Snow would
be the featured entertainer for
two days of the 1975 Fair.
Set standards
for buildings
At the November meeting of
the Biddulph Township Council
the engineers report was
provisionally adopted for the
construction of the Steffen5-
Zubal drain and .the Steffena.
Roticina drain. A resolution was
passed setting standards for
building maintenance and health
for improving older homes.
Building permita were
authorized as follows: Florence
Bryan, Lot 20, Con. 10, a home;
Ted Toortders, Lot 26, Con. 6, a
garage; Herman Steffens, Lot 8,
Con. 3, manure storage; P. .1,
Kelly, Lot 25, Con, 11, implement
shed; Alan Scott, Lot 30, Cot, 3,
roof on silo; Arthur Dark,. Lot 9,

The Reeve, Deputy Reeve and

in Bryanston area

London suffering facial fractures
after the vehicle she was driving
struck a tree after leaving
Concession 9 road in London
township near Clarke sideroad.
Constable D. R. Vance set
damages at $1,000.
Damages of $2,800 were
sustained Tuesday afternoon at 4
p.m, when vehicles driven by
Cheryl Butler, RR 1 Arva, and
Elizabeth Klinger, RR 4 Denfield,
Collided on Concession 7 of,
London township, a mile west of
Highway 4.

In the last of seven accidents
investigated this week by officers
of the Ontario Provincial Police
detachment at Lucan a large dog
was kilied.
The animal was struck on
Highbury Avenue in the
Bryanston area by a vehicle
driven by James Hord, 151$
Glengarry Crescent, London at 2
a.m., Tuesday.
Constable G, 11. Wilcox in-
vestigated and listed damages to
the Hord vehicle at $400.
Monday evening at 7 p.m.
Constable W. R. Disher listed
damages at $250 when a vehicle
driven by Gregory Sadler, RR 2
Parkhill, left county road 24 at
the Ausable River bridge.
Sunday afternoon Michael
Chesterson, 70 High street,
London was taken to St. Joseph's
hospital, London suffering
serious injuries after the vehicle
he was driving was in collision
with a vehicle being operated by
Gregory Baker, 506 Hamilton
Road, London.
Constable Wilcox estimated
damages at $700. The mishap
occurred on Highway 4 at
Clandeboye.
Damages amounted to only $30
when vehicles driven by Karl
Ortmanns, RR 3 Exeter, and
Edwin McRae, Arva, were in
collision on Highway 4 at Arva.
Constable N, A. Campbell in-
vestigated.
Wednesday morning at 8.55,
Ho Jo's even season record,
Irish streak goes to four
going into the third.
Jim Benn led the locals with
three goals and one assist while
single goals went to Bill Hudson,
Gary Connolly, Jim Hodgins, Bob
Cornish, Jim Thompson and
Randy Kraul. Each team
received ten minor penalties
apiece.
In exhibition play Friday
Huron East defeated the Lucan
pee-wees by a 6-3 score. Dean
Scott scored Lucan's first goal
with Bob Greene setting him up
while Brad Degraw scored the
other two Lucan goals with Paul
Gilmour getting an assist on one
of Degraw's goals.

early in the third and appeared to
have the game wrapped up but
Craig Corman brought Lucan to
within one goal and Brad Taylor

Lucan juveniles remained
undefeated in league play when
they defeated Dorchester 9.4 in a
game played at Belmont Sunday.

do collection
At the Expedition on Monday
after school the Lucan-
Clandeboye Explorers received
their UNICEF Collection Boxes
but because of the very wet
weather the drive was postponed
until later in the week.
Mary Madden conducted the
opening ceremony and the roll
call was answered with buttons,
needles, thread and clothing for
the bale for UnitarianServices.
The members enjoyed a con-
test using the new Anglican-
United Church calendar to
discover which emblem belonged
to each Province. Counsellor
Mrs. Don O'Neil read a story
"Adopting a Grandmother" and
a singsong was enjoyed. Each
girl also received several
calendars to be sold on different
streets. If you are missed and

be Monday, November 18 after
school.
Girls plan
baking sale
Your support is needed for the
Guides & Brownies at their Bake
Sale in the Parish Hall on
Saturday, November 30.
The Brownies have been
meeting regularly each Wed-
nesday after school. There are 18
Tweenies (girls who have not
qualified as full Brownies) and
Julie Mugford, Pam Gibbs, and
Jennifer MaC'Donald have been
enrolled. They attended the
required number of consecutive
regular meetings and have
learned their Promise, Law,
Motto and the meaning of a "good
deed".
The Pack is now full, but if
others are interested Pack I will
be reopened under the leadership
of Mrs. W. L. Fowles, 227-4945.

The "applehead witch" project
proved to be successful as a fun
"Hallowe'en idea, but the girls
are finding it difficult to let them
dry until "thinking day" in
February!
Never too old
to start bowling
Two new McCormick Home
residents, Mrs. Lizzie O'Neil, age
95 and Mrs. Irene Needham, age
94, last Saturday participated in
the dart and shuffleboard games
and did splendidly for beginners.
The latter also went bowling with
the bowlers on Friday when Miss
L. E. Abbott came 4th for the 4th
week in a row.

Deanery report
Members of Holy Trinity
A.C.W. held their November
meeting last Wednesday af-
ternoon at the home of Mrs. C.
Bagger. President, Mrs. Frank
Hardy, Sr., reported on the
Deanery meeting held recently in
Strathroy and also gave an in-
teresting paper on the history of
Holy Trinity.
Mrs. Hilton Roberts and Mrs.
Donald DeGraw were co-
hostesses. The Christmas
meeting will be held on the first
Wednesday of December and will
include an exchange of gifts.
