HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Exeter Times-Advocate, 1974-10-31, Page 23 +.7.74#,SP:r.F NOMINATIONS Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Township of Usborne - in the County of Huron that the period during which nomination papers may be filed in the office of the clerk for the purpose of municipal elections will commence on 7th. day of November • at the hour of 9:00 o'clock, and close on November 12th. at the hour of 5 o'clock for the purpose of nominating fit and proper persons for the office(s) of REEVE DEPUTY REEVE COUNCILLORS (3) for the Township of Usborne of which all Electors are hereby required to take notice and govern themselves accordingly, and further take notice that the manner in which said nominations shall be filed is set forth in section 34 of The Municipal Elections Act which provides that: How nominated 34.—(1) A person may be nominated as a candidate for an office by filing in the office of the clerk, during the normal office hours of the clerk within the period in which nominations may be filed, a nomination paper in prescribed form which: (a) shall be signed by at least ten electors whose names are entered in the polling lists of electors entitled to vote in an election to such of- fice; (b) shall state the name, occupation and address of the person nominated in such manner as will identify him and the office for which he is nominated; and (c) shall state the name and address of each elector signing the nomina- tion paper and, where the office for which the person is nominated is a member of a school board, that such nominator is a public school elector or a separate school elector as the fact is. 1974,s.20(1). Consent and declaration to be filed (2) No nomination is valid unless there is filed with the nomination paper a consent in writing to the nomination and a declaration of qualifica- tion in the prescribed form by the person nominated, Huron County Board of Education to the Clerk Township of Stephen Public school nominators (3) A nomination paper nominating a person for an office the holder of which is required to be elected by public school electors shall be signed by public school electors only, 1974, s.20(2). Huron-Perth RCSS Board Separate school nominators (4) A nomination paper nominating a person for an office the holder of which is required to be elected by separate school electors shall be signed by separate school electors only. 1974, s.20(3), To the Clerk Township of Stephen Separate nomination papers (5) Each candidate for election to an office shall be nominated by a separate nomination paper, but an elector may sign the nomination papers of different candidates, Clerk to keep nomination paper (6) After a nomination paper is filed with the clerk it shall remain in the dossession of the clerk, Onus on person nominated (7) The onus is on the person nominated for election to an office to file a bona tide nomination paper. If a greater number of candidates than required to fill the said offices, are nominated and make the required declarations, notice of the time for the holding of the poll, in- cluding the advance poll and notice of the last day for mak- ing applications for a certificate to vote by proxy will be given forthwith. George Ball of Milverton was guest minister Sunday morning at the United church, Mrs. Bill Brenner was soloist, During the service the Sunday School children were present, and seals and certificates for attendance were handed out by Mrs. Gerry Love, S.S. superin- tendent, The children sang two songs, Brad Hamilton and son Brent of London were Sunday dinner meeting Tuesday afternoon, in the form of A pot luck supper, at the home of Mrs,'Mildred Mac, Laren, with thirty .four attending. The .collection will he used to buy material and wool for Christmas work for the children's shelter at Sarnia. Mrs, Eva Allister won a prize for having a birthday closest to this date. The social time was spent playing court whist and winners were, high ladies, Mrs. Wm. Thompson and Mrs. Harold Dobson, low s,core winners were,- Mrs. Ken Roberts and Mrs. Olive Webb. Mr. & Mrs. Murray Evans of Lambeth, and Mr. & Mrs. Verne Sharpe of Parkhill, visited Sunday with the ladies' brother and sister-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Stuart Sweitzer. Mrs. Margaret Maven of Guelph visited on' the weekend with Buelah Holt and Mrs. May Holt. Avoid waste Wise food shopping is not the only way to keep a close eye on the budget. According to Food , Advisory Services, Agricukture Canada ,Afavoiding " 'waste is another excellent way to get your money's worth in the kitchen. Dry stale bread in the oven and roll or grind it into crumbs. Use these for breading meats or vegetables, or as a topping for casseroles. Add left over cooked fish, chicken, meat or cheese to a tossed salad, a casserole, an omelet or a sandwich spread. Keep leftover soup by freezing it in an ice cube tray. When frozen, remove the cubes, store them in plastic bags in the freezer, Thaw and heat the cubes as needed. Use sour rpilk or cream in chocolate cakes, muffins or pancakes. Chili makes a great leftover dish. Grincl bits of leftover meat, poultry, even liver and kidneys together - Chili is spicy enough to mask the flavor difference. By MRS.
