the W.M.S. of Carmel

the Thanksgiving meeting and
opened the program with a
Thanksgiving Poem and
Scripture Luke 18, verse II.
Mrs. Harry Snell presided
when the Home Helpers assisted
with the program, and led in
prayer followed by meditation
and devotional taken by Mrs. M.
Glanville, Mrs. Esther Wright,
Mrs. Myrtle Dick.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor gave a
reading ,entitled "Harvest and
Thanksgiving Season."
Mrs. Percy Campbell acted as
secretary in the absence of Mrs.
Glenn Bell.
Arrangements were made for
members to attend the Fall Rally
in Knox Church, Goderich on
October 9. Mrs. Hyde closed the
meeting with a poem "Loving
Thy Neighbour" and prayer.
Mrs. Ruby Hoggarth will be in
charge of the November 4
meeting.

Church News
St. Pauls Anglican Church was
beautifully decorated with fruits,
vegetables and flowers for the
service of harvest Thanksgiving.
The Rev. G. A. Anderson con-
ducted the service. The theme of
the sermon was "Thanksgiving".
Mrs. Roland McCaffrey of Exeter
sang "Bless this house" and
"Abide with me". The St. Paul's
orchestra played before the
service, and also led in the
singing of the familiar
Thanksgiving hymns. Following
the service lunch was served by
the young people of the Church.
United Church Notes .•
Mrs. Shirley Luther was the
guest soloist at Hensall United
Church Sunday morning for the
World Wide Communion service.
She sang a solo accompanied on
the piano by her husband Eric,
who along with Mrs. Norma
Pryde shared the piano and
organ during the service. Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur Slade were
welcomed into full membership
in the Hensall congregation. Rev.
Don Beck preached on the ser-
mon topic "communion:
Presentation, Participation,
Proclamation, Sunday, October
13 will be the Thanksgiving
services both at Hensall United
and Chiselhurst United Churches.
