County of Huron will make applica-
tion at a Special Meeting of the Li-
quor Licence Board of Ontario to be
held at the Canadian Legion Hall, 48
Ontario Street North in the City of
Kitchener in the Regional Municipali-
ty of Waterloo on Tuesday the
Twenty-second day of October, 1974,

win honors
South Huron District High
School athletes turned in ex-
cellent performances at Friday's
invitational cross country meet
at Stratford Central.
Kim Pos till won the senior girls
championship and Janet Gielen
was named junior champ. The
senior team including Agnes Van
Esbroeck, Kathleen Gielen,
Heather Little and Kim Postill
placed second.
Lucy Van Esbroeck was fourth
in the midget girls division and
Paul Wareing was seventh in
midget boys.
A similar invitational meet will
be held at South Huron on

Exeter Kinsmen
join walk-a-thon
Members of the Exeter Kin-
smen club will be joining other
Huron County Kinsmen on
October 6 in a walk-a-thon'ircen
the Lucknow Legion to the
Wingham Armories.
Proceeds from the walk will go
to help stamp out Cystic Fybrosis
which is the leading cause of
chronic lung disease in Canadian
babies, children and young
adults.
Approximately 12 to 15 Kin-
smen from Exeter will take part
in the 12 mile walk-a-than which
is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. at
the Legion in Lucknow.
Ben Hoogenboom is the
chairman of the local walk-a-thon
committee and Dennis Hockey is
the Exeter president.

Bruce D. Bjorkquist has been
appointed Chairman of the
Clinton Centre of Conestoga
College of Applied Arts and
Technology, College officials
recently announced. Mr,
Bjorkquist's appointment is
effective September 1, 1974.
A resident of Goderich, Mr,
Bjorkquist has been employed at
the Clinton Centre since the
autumn of 1971. Mr. Bjorkquist
has been coordinator of applied
arts and a counsellor at the
centre. He has taught English in
the academic upgrading
program, and both English and
Psychology in the post secondary
secretarial science program.
Prior to accepting a position in
Clinton, Mr. Bjorkquist taught
English at the Waterloo Centre of
Conestoga College.
At a press conference at the
Clinton centre last week
Mr.Bjorkquist said that at the
Clinton centre, the community
shows itself in secretaries and
counsellors, typing instructors
and psychology instructors, 20
year old students and 60 year old
students, At this centre people
come together to work on the
common task of making in-
dividual lives more productive,
more creative, and more en-
joyable."
He said that at Clinton they
would welcome a football team,
cheering crowds and rousing
basketball games but that "For
the moment, we are content to be
a community of people working
together on less boisterous tasks
which may 'in' the' long term be
J.closer to the real needs of the
'total community."
Ai a lay pastor in the Lutheran
Church, Mr. Bjorkquist has
served congregations in New
Hamburg, Tavistock, Dashwood
and Exeter.• Since moving to
Goderich, he has been in-
strumental in the establishment
of a new Lutheran congregation
serving the Goderich Clinton
area.
In addition to a strong
academic background, Mr,
Bjorkquist holds a Bachelor of
Arts degree from the University
of Windsor, a Master of Divinity
degree from Concordia
Seminary, St. Louis, and a
Master of Arts degree in
Philosophy froOthelUniversity of
Waterloo. He is currently
working on his doctorate in
Philosophy.
Mr. Bjorkquist who is 32 years
of age, his wife, Janet and their
two daughters reside at 333 Eldon
Street, Goderich.

last week, that the college has
three objectives: to provide
young people with an opportunity
to fit themselves for a satisfying
personal career; to help adults
learn new skills in order to take
advantage of multiple job op-
portunities and providing over
500 individual courses, available
to everyone, encompassing both
job-related skills and personal
development.
Hunter said that this year the
Clinton Centre is offering an
unusual Secretarial Science
Program. The program is
structured in modules so that
students may begin any time at
their convenience and complete
the program at a pace suited to
their individual needs.
An Educational Resources
Centre is also being developed at
the Clinton Centre to house a
variety of audio visual equipment
which will supplement the in-
dividualized approach to
education.
"We are prepared to in-
novate." Hunter said, "to use
new methods, to work with the
people of this area to provide
whatever educational service you
need.
