40 foot marble wall.
A metal frame at the top will
hold the hanging in place,
Technical advisor for the project
was Bevan Ling, a pottery
teacher at Beal who assisted in
constructing the frame and will
also be on hand to add some
muscle when it comes time to
mount the hanging in place.
The wall hanging must be sent
to Toronto to be fireproofed
before it is hung at the cour-
thouse.
Karen said that there was some
difficulty in finding a place to
fireproof such a large hanging
and that several of the samples
they sent out to be fireproofed
came back with the colours
changed by the chemicals.
They hope to have the hanging
ready to be hung in the cour--
thouse by the second week of
August or at least in time for the
Grand Opening on the last week
of September.
Members of the Clinton
ChristianReformed Church held a
song service in the auditorium on
Sunday evening led by Mr. Aire
Van Der Ende.

together. Three new residents

numbers by Henrietta Stryker
and vocal duets by Mrs.
McGratton and Mrs. Buchanan.

travelling by bus and van visited
the Goderich area on Tuesday
afternoon. The first stop of the
tour was at the Pioneer Museum
which was of real interest to
everyone, and then on to Harbour
Park for dinner.
The afternoon bus tour in-
cluded the Goderich harbour,
Sit to salt mine, the Falls Con-
servation area and the Jervis
Sanctuary at Homesville.
Owing to the risk of rain the
"Family Night" program was
held in the auditorium on
Thursday night. Colored slide
pictures of birthdays and special
events at the Home were shown
with piano instrumentals by Mrs.
Welsh.

Thousands of people will soon
be able to view the work of a
talented Exeter girl when a 24' by
17' wall, hanging designed by
Karen em of Exeter goes on
display at the new Courthouse
and registry office in London.
Along with the work of ten
other artists, Karen's design for a
wall hanging worth $10,000 was
chosen from 22 competitors to
adorn the new building.
Since she received the go ahead
in April she and four other
weavers have worked over 900
hours to complete the hanging.
Karen, a former student of
South Huron District High School
has been taking special art
courses at Beal Secondary
School.
Under the direction of teacher
Connie Jefferess four of the
students submitted "maquettes",
a miniature scale sample of their
proposed design for the hanging.

Connie Jefferess co-ordinated
the weaving and all five girls
participated, adding their special
touches to the design.
Karen described the theme for
the-hanging as "soft and warm".
The courthouse is a place for
people in trouble, she said and
she wanted her design to give
warmth to the cold atmosphere of
the building.
The overall colours in the
design are the natural jute colors
of beige and brown with several
patches of color including shag
areas of pinks, blues, golds and
turquoises.
The other weavers are Miriam
Barkley, Sheila Fleming and
Sandi Nisbet.
The girls worked over 900 hours
using 450 to 500 pounds of jute,
sisal and spun yarn in a variety of
weaving patterns and styles.
The hanging will be placed on
themain floor of the court house
