MacIntosh and daughter, Mississauga were at home in Clandeboye for the Ailsa Craig Centennial Celebrations, Many area residents attended the Friedsburg Days at Dash- wood and enjoyed the talent show and sauerkraut, sausage and spare ribs, Ailsa Craig Centennial Parade on Saturday was timed so most of the entrants arrived back at the fair grounds just in time for a wash out. The parade was an excellent one with many area residents participating, Mr. & Mrs. Ken Carter have returned from Gravenhurst where they spent several days with Mr. & Mrs. J. Brownlee and family. Lynn Ross is on holidays and spent the weekend camping in Algonquin Park. George Robertson who has spent two months with his parents has returned to his studies in British Columbia for a two year course, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. McHugh have returned from a months vacation as far west as Victoria BC. The church combined services will be in St. James Church for the next three Sundays. Rev. Holfland was not back from his vacation. A student minister, John Bright of Sarnia who is at Huron Church camp as a leader was in charge of the worship. George Cunningham returned to Scotts Elevator, after being away because of an injured thumb. The Clandeboye Hillbillies took second prize at the Ailsa Craig Centennial Celebrations parade held on Saturday. Mrs. C. Carter was Jethro, Tom Tomes was Jed, Mrs. Barbara Carter was Ellie Mae and Mrs. Tomes was Grannie. Mr. & Mrs. D. In Wednesday's win over Staffa, the Greys broke the game wide open with a nine run barrage in the third inning. The big rally was powered by home runs from the bats of Valerie Sweet and Kathy Wells. Sweet hit another round tripper in the fifth, Lea Dejong was the top Grey scorer with four runs while Lynda Bowers and Lynne Farquhar each crossed the plate three times. Scoring runs in single fashion for Staffa were Patti Norris, Libby Tempieman, Bev Smale, Gerry Reynen and Teresa Miller. The winning pitcher for the Greys was Lea Dejong. The Exeter Greys completed a very successful regular schedule in the South Perth ladies softball league Wednesday with a 20-5 win over Staffa. The Greys went undefeated winning 17 of the 18 games played. The other contest ended in a tie. Playoffs are expected to start this week. The Greys will be in action Thursday, August 15 at Exeter Community park when they take on the Exeter firemen in an exhibition game. The Crediton bantam baseball club staved off elimination Tuesday night with a resounding 24-4 win over Wingham on the Crediton diamond, Wingham won the first two games of the series 3-0 and 4.1 to take a commanding lead in the best-of-five series. The fourth game will be played in Wingham Friday night with a fifth if necessary back in Crediton. A 15 run outburst in the bottom of the fourth inning allowed the Crediton youngster to coast to victory. Six members of the team each collected two hits in the big inning. Fraser Boyle and Dennis Preszcator each cracked out two doubles to lead the attack. Getting two singles apiece were Rick Govers, Darrell Preszcator and Larry Ryan. Richard Webb collected a single and a double. The other base hits were singles from the bats of Paul Gaiser, Ken Govers and Mark Cronyn. Before the sixth inning started the lights at the Wingham ball park were turned on but they failed shortly after and the game was finished in semi-darkness, The Crediton club jumped quickly in front with five runs in their first turn at the plate. Mark Cronyn and Ken Govers each cracked out doubles and Rick Govers and Paul Gaiser con- tributed singles. In the Crediton second Paul Gaiser singled, moved to second on a similar hit from the bat of Ken Govers and home as Dennis Preszcator singled.
