Goad Weather and a tremen-
dous community effort con-
tributed to make Granton's
fourth annual Fun Day one of the
most successful yet.
Participants in the Saturday
morning parade numbered close
to 350. Besides the large number
of Grantort and area buys and
girls participating in the parade,
there were a number of outside
entries, A huge float was en-
tered by the Shakespeare
Optimist Club and the motorcycle
corp of the Stratford-on-Avon
Shrine, Mocha Temple added
much to the parade.
Little Dianne Watt of the St.
Marys Starlette Strutters headed
the parade and the Royal
Canadian Legion Concert Band of
London provided marching
music, The Lucan Lions Club
supported the parade again this
year.
The three judges; Jack Riddell,
Murray Brown and Bill Brady
had their work cut out for them
but the final winners were: three
wheelers—Sandy Lynn Rooney,
Kent Harding, Timmy Fields;
two wheelers—Jay Hayden, Julie

Girls Ball Team.
The mini-fair in the park was
run by local groups. Food booths,
game booths, bake table, garage
sales, etc. were sponsored and
run by the Granton Cubs, Scouts,
Exploreres, C.G.I.T., Anglican
Church Women, United Church
Women Unit's 1, 3 and 4.
Other booths were entered by
the Women's Institute, Lucan
Lions Club, Edgewood Junior
Farmers, Junior Ball Team and
the Granton Rec. Community
Association,
The senior girls ball team
played against some local men in
an exciting game with the final
score 1241. The Bryanston men's
ball team played an exhibition
game against the Lucan Irish
which everyone enjoyed although
the Lucan Irish won with a score
of 12-2,
The day ended up with a dance
at the Lucan arena sponsored by
the Granton Recreation Com-
munity Association. The lucky
winner of a color TV was twelve
year old Wendy Kioss of Granton.
The draw was made at the Fun
Day Dance.
Couple Married
Debbie Stanley was united in
marriage to Claire McRobert
Friday in Lucan United Church
with the wedding meal following
in the church basement,
A large number of people from
Granton and the surrounding
area attended the wedding and
the reception dance held later at
the Kirkton-Woodham Com-
munity Centre.
Gunning Reunion
Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins,
Mrs. Lois Herbert and children
attended the Gunning Reunion
held at Riverview Park in
Exeter. Frank Squire, travelled
with them. The attendance this
year was around 100,
Church News
Granton United Church
welcomed to their service the
Treble Clefs (choir from South
West Norfolk) which led them in
worship through song.
Rev. M. Mclnally spoke on
"Our Armour". There will be no
service on the Granton Pastoral
Charge during August. iRev.
Garth Nelson of Robinson
United Church, London will be
looking after any pastoral
emergencies while Rev. McInally
is on her holidays.
Ball News
The Bryanston men played
Tuesday in Granton ball park.
They won over Beechwood with a
score of 13-2,
The senior and junior girls ball
teams both played their last
scheduled games of the season
but have a few rained out games
to get in, Wednesday night the
senior girls played Cromarty at
Granton with the local girls
winning 27-9.
The junior girls played^
Hurondale at Usborne public
school and lost a close game, the
final score being 30-29.
Personals
Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Westman
and family of Sarnia were in
Granton Saturday for the Fun
Day and stayed the weekend with
Ralph's mother, Mrs. Claire B.
Westman.
Mr. & Mrs. Ken Hodgins, Mrs.
Lois Herbert and family travelled
to Toronto last weekend and
visited with Mr. & Mrs. Edgar
Shaver and Rona Hickey.
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Barrett,
Jim and Jeff have left on a motor
trip out west. On their 2.3 week
holiday they plan on going all the
way out to Vancouver Island.
& Mrs. Bob Foster are on
holidays this week and are
leaving on a camping trip up to
Collingwood for a couple of days.
Visitors with Dr. & Mrs. Erie
Johnston Saturday were Mr. &
Mrs. Robert Pittam, London and
Mr. & Mrs. Hugh Welch of
Albans, England, Members of
their family home to attend Fun
Day were Mr. & Mrs, Eric
Johnston and Christopher of
Dryden and Mr. & Mrs. William
Johnston and daughter Anthea,
all of Toronto.
Mrs. Walter Harding has
returned from a motor trip up
north where she visited relatives
at Gore Bay and Manitoulin
Island. She Will be spending the
rest of het holidays at her home
in Granton.
Mr. & Mrs, Elmer Summers'
had a houseful of visitors over the
weekend, Mr. Summer's
daughter, Mr. & Mrs, R. Harris
and son Richard of Toronto and
Mr. & Mrs. Forbes Powell of
Hamilton were weekend guests.
Michael Stith/berg, Craig and
Sandra of Prescott spent the
weekend and plan on spending a
few days next week with his
parents.

holidaying with their sots, Mt'. St
MrS, Joe Rottkens on an extended
visit.
