Mrs. Margaret Thorndyke, Mrs. Lockhart, Mrs. Coombs and Mrs, Montford of Clinton visited with Mrs. Rachel Schwalm and Mrs. Ivey last Thursday. Mr. & Mrs. Arthur VanDyke of Brantford, and Peter Van Driel of Goderich visited with Mr, & Mrs. Sim Rocibal. Lynn Dodds of Seaforth spent the weekend with her grand- parents Mr, & Mrs, Sim Roobal and also visited with her aunt Mrs. Audrey Christie. Paul Dodds of Seaforth is spending this week with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal. Mr. & Mrs. Desmond Ivey visited with their mother Mrs. Daisy Ivey who accompanied them to their home in Sarnia for the day this past Sunday. Dr. & Mrs. Charles Dales and Mrs. Margaret Chisholm of Toronto were weekend guests with Mr. & Mrs. John Soldan and families. Mr. & Mrs. Ken McLean have returned from a pleasure trip to the western provinces. Mrs. Leona Parke and Mrs. Margaret Ingram returned home from a pleasant three week holiday in Western Canada and Vancouver. Mrs. Susie Kipfer who recently underwent surgery in University Hospital, London,is recuperating at the home of her son, Mr, & Mrs. Earl Oesch in Zurich. Mrs. Ed. Fink, who has been in University Hospital, London for the past two months, undergoing surgery, returned to her home at RR 2, Ripley. Michael Hoy, London, son of Mr. & Mrs, Harry Hoy has ac• cepted employment on the teaching staff of the Ausable Camp, Parkhill, for emotionally disturbed children. Dr. & Mrs. Doug McKelvie of Essex were weekend visitors with Mr. & Mrs, Jack Drysdale. Church News United Church News Rev. Donald Beck conducted service in the Hensall United Church on Sunday speaking on "Let's Do Some Research". Don Travers and daughter Gail sang a duet, "The Stranger of Galilee" accompanied by Mrs. John Turkheim. Next Sunday will be final service in the Hensall United Church, Beginning Aug. 4th to Sept. 15th service will be held in Carmel Presbyterian Church. Anglican Church Notes The Reverend G. A. Anderson conducted the service in St. Paul's Anglican Church Sunday morning. The theme of the ser- mon was "Barnabas was a good man". The orchestra played "The Old Rugged Cross" and also accompanied in the singing of the hymns, The 35th annual Thomson reunion was held in the Hensall park on Sunday afternoon, It was decided that next years picnic will be held the third Sunday in July at Goderich Harbour Park. Officers for next year are president, Dorothy Chase; vice- president, Norm Stanlalte; seeretary-treasurer, Mary Parsons; sports committee, Bob and Glenda Cornish; lunch committee, Cecil and Joyce Pepper and Lloyd and Helen Thompson. The youngest person present was Tara Nichole Cornish, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Robert Cornish of Guelph. Winners in the various races were Elizabeth Thompson, Tania Cornish, Greg Chase, Jo-Ann Pepper, Jeff Chase, Laurie Pepper, Marilyn Pepper and Brad Chase. A candy SARAH (STEWART) TURNER Mrs. Harvey Turner, the former Sarah Jane Stewart passed away at her home on Thursday, July 18 in her 86th year. She was the wife of the late Harvey Turner, mother of Wilmer and Irene at home and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Taylor of RR 2, Hensall. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Murray and Donna Taylor. The late Mrs. Turner rested at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel in HenSall till Sunday when funeral service was held with Rev. Murdock Morrison officiating. Interment was in Bayfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harvey Keys, Ralph Turner, Jim McNaughton, Bill Consitt, Elmer Turner and Keith Stephenson. Flower bearers were Robert Turner, Orval Schilbe, Ray Pepper, Ron Coleman, Charles Mustard and Robert Turner of Auburn. MARY (RICHARDSON) TAYLOR Mary Taylor passed away at South Huron Hospital Monday July 22. She was the former Mary Richardson of Hensall. She was the wife of the late Richard Taylor, and mother of Mrs. Gordon (Jean) Munn, RR 1, Exeter, Mrs. Lorne (Margaret) Kay, London, Mrs. Milt McIntosh, Vancouver, B.C.; John, Seaforth, Richard, Hen- salt; and Edwin, RR 2, Kippen . Two sons predeceased her. Funeral service was held at the Bonthron Funeral Chapel Wednesday with Rev. George Anderson officiating. Pallbearers were John,Alvin, Bedford, and Ray Taylor, Douglas Munn and Grant Walker. Interment was in McTaggart's Cemetery. Bride-elect honoured A miscellaneous shower was held in the Legion Hall in Hensall, Wednesday evening to honor Pauline Allan whose marriage to Ron McBride will take place August 2. Crediton trounces Exeter juveniles In their only action of the week in Western Ontario Athletic Association play, the Crediton juveniles scored a 9-4 win over Exeter. Tonight, Thursday the Crediton youngsters will be back in action as they meet Seaforth on the Dashwood diamond. A five run outburst in the fifth inning provided the Crediton club with their margin of victory. A double by Peter Wuerth and a single from the bat of Rick Bowers powered the Crediton rally, In the opening inning Keith Davey walked and completed the bases cycle on Larry Clarke's double. Consecutive singles by Pat Bedard, Bill Hodge and Rodger Finkbeiner plated the second Crediton run in the second, Ron Funston and Peter Wuerth scored in the fourth without the aid of a hit. Brian Taylor doubled and scored the first Exeter run in the first frame. Perry Stover counted the final Exeter marker in the fifth after drawing a walk. Rodger Finkbeiner was the winning pitcher for Crediton allowing only two scattered hits while striking out three in the five inning contest. Rob Dickey took care of the Exeter hurling duties.
