A REUNION OF FRIENDS -- A T-A photo brought these people back
together after 15 years, Frank and Bett Heaton, Grand Bend renew
acquaintance with Alan Raeburn of the Huron Country Playhouse. The
Heaton's celebrated their 55th anniversary recently,
Most new neghbours in Exeter
don't get bartismal ceremonies
for their ney home, But Mrs.
Catherine DiacDonald was an
exception.
She and ler family moved into
252 North Isherwood Crescent on
June 21. That first week, there
was so much rain that the
basement window wells were
Mrs. Catherine MacDonald
filled and the basement was
completely flooded,
"I thought this is Exeter, eh?"
she said.
But that first impression was
soon changed, "It's just beautiful
up here," she said, "so nice,
Constable Dianne Brock of the
OPP is even more enthusiastic
about her new job, now that she
has been working for three weeks
"The public's attitude (to
women in the OPP) is just fan-
tastic," she said, "They are all so
co-operative and friendly",
Constable Brock is stationed in
London with another woman OPP
who graduated with her from the
four week training course held in
Toronto.
There were 15 women in the
course and 27 men.'The course,
she said, usually only takes three
weeks but so many things had to
be changed because of the women
involved. "There: weren't any
women's washriipms, for one
thing".
The 15 women received the
same training asthe men but alio
had a self-defense course at a
local gym threenights a week for
two and a half hours.
Of the 15 women OPP con-
stables, 2 were stationed in
London, 2 h Ottawa, 2 in
Kingston, 2 in Downsview, 2 in
Peterborough, 2 in Bracebridge,
clean and quiet and so safe for the

Prebyterian Women
Plan Centennial
The summer meeting of Caven
Presbyterian Church Women
centered around plans for
celebrating the Centennial of the
Presbyterian Church in Canada
in 1975.
Relating the devotional period
to important celebrations in the
Old Testament, Mrs. G.
Whilsrnith told many of the plans
that were suggested for the
congregations. It was decided to
have a centennial sign erected
which will tell the story of the
past, the present and the hopes
for the future.
The ladies have already or-
dered centennial plates with the
picture of Cave!) Church.
Mrs, Murray reported on the
June Conference held in Atwood.
The fall rally will be held in St.
Marys, October 9.
Committees were named to
look after a luncheon for the 4-H
leaders training school in August
and a dinner sometime in
October,
The members were delighted
by a humorous chorus sung by a
group of ladies, and a contest of
naming the period that pictures
of various styles represented.
Many were surprised that
dresses of our years resembled
dresses worn in the late 1800's.

had no trouble meeting many
children of their own age.
Her husband, Alex is the plant
manager at 13endix mobile homes
in Itensall, Before the move to
Exeter, he commuted for five
years from their home in London.
Both she and her husband are
from Glasgow in Scotland, They
came out in 1962. They took their
children back to visit in 1969 for
three months.
"It was just great," she said,
"but I was so homesick for
Canada. You have to take that
one trip back to get it out of your
'system."
Catherine enjoys reading but
most of her time is taken up now
with decorating her new home.
Her husband is going to build a
family room so that some of their
furniture can come out of
storage.

By the end of the yar there will
be 45 women in the OPP, Con-
stable Brock said.
During her three weeks on the
job, she has assisted in motor
vehicle collisions, directing
traffic, radar interception;
domestic disputes and distur-
bances. During the three or four
month training period, Constable
Brock will be working with
another OPP member. After that
time she will be patrolling by
herself,
The thing she likes about the
job is that you don't have time to
think about what you have to do,
"They tell you a few minutes
before that something is going to
happen and you go to it and that's
it. You just go and hope that you

Constable Brock has been
working midnight shifts for the
past week, but says she prefers
the afternoon shift, from 4 p.m. to
