was in Ottawa recently to attend
an investiture ceremony at
Government House. The
Governor General bestowed upon
him the Order of Canada. Dr.

Observe anniversary
of Cromarty church

CROMARTY
Cromarty Prebyterian Church
was filled on Sunday morning for
.the 109th anniversary of the
opening of the present church
building.
A former minister, Rev. John
C. Boyne of Listowel, spoke on
the theme, Everything Is
Beautiful? During his remarks he
said that he used to try to
promote a good day's pay for a
good day's work, but now he sees
a need for a good day's work for a
good day's pay. With Mrs.
Freeman Horne as organist, the
choir rendered two anthems, 0
Worship the King, and Out in the
Fields with God. Following the
service, lunch and a social hour
were held in the basement.
Bridal Shower
Linda Miller, whose marriage
to Nelson Pullman of Staffa takes
place the end of June, was guest
of honour at a bridal shower in
Cromarty Sunday School room on
Friday evening.
With Marilyn Miller as
mistress of ceremonies, a
programme consisting of step-
dancing by Bonnie Norris and
Shirley Miller, and a reading on
Sacraments was enjoyed.
Roberta Templeman and
Grace Kerslake conducted
contests after which the bride
was seated in a decorated arm
chair. Dianne Miller read an
address in rhyme, and the bride
was assisted in opening her gifts
by Patti Norris, Lorraine Laing,
Dianne Miller, and Carol Miller.

visited recently with their son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. & Mrs.

George Douglas was one of four
Perth County 4-H delegates who
attended the 4-H Leadership

the hospital at Exeter for ton-
sillectomy.
Wedding Anniversary
Mr, & Mrs. Ross Krueger
celebrated their 35th wedding
anniversary by a reception held
in the Crediton Community
Centre Sunday evening. About
170 people came to offer
congratulations.
Mr. .& Mrs. Robert Jeffery and
Mr. & Mrs. Robert Crawford
lOoked after the guests. Mr. &
Mrs. Joe Varley were in charge
of the buffet table.
Music was provided by Bob
Heywood, Glenn Hodgins and Ed
Stiles of Goderich.
The room was decorated with
flowers, a money tree,
streamers, bells, silhouettes and
snapshots.
All of Mr. Krueger's family
came for the event except the
brother who lives in British
Columbia, His sister, Mrs. Ruth
Snyder of Toronto, was a
member of the bridal party of
thirty-five years ago.
Mr. & Mrs. Krueger's first
foster child, Bill Duckworth of
Goderich was present with his
wife to pay tribute to the
honoured couple.

Over seven hundred were fed at
the annual ham and strawberry
supper last Wednesday night.
Mr. Mrs. Charles Douglas
visited with friends in Priceville
on the weekend and attended the
Step-dancing and Square-dancing
competitions at Dundalk.
Mr, & Mrs. Clarence Coleman
spent the weekend with relatives
in Flint, Michigan.

Cromarty Anniversary and
visited with Mr, & Mrs, Gordon
Scott.
Miss Barbara Kerslake spent
the weekend with her sister,
Bonnie Kerslake of Sarnia.
Mr. & Mrs. E. Kerslake and
Marie were guests at an 88th
birthday party for Mrs,Kerslake's
mother, Mrs, Ken Drake of
Mitchell. Their daughter, Bar-
bara, joined with them for the
birthday supper,
Kippen ladies
on bus jaunt

Members of Kippen East W.I.
and ladies in the community
enjoyed a tour of Gay Lea in
Guelph, the McMichael Canadian
Collection at Kleinburg and the
Black Creek Pioneer Village.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth was in
charge of arrangements.
The Education meeting of
Kippen East W.I. was held in the
Legion Hall June 19 when Miss
Fermer Santones a native of the
Philipines and now a teacher in
Seaforth showed pictures
depicting life in the South Pacific
Islands.
She was introduced by Mrs. C.
Pullman and Mrs. J. Drummond
presented her with a gift.
The roll call was "A skill my
mother taught me" and Mrs.
Grant McLean commented on the
motto, "To handle yourself use
your head, to handle others, use
your heart".
Mrs. Harold Parsons, a new
member was presented with her
handbook.
Reports were given by Mrs. V.
Alderdice on Citizenship and
World Affairs, Mrs. M. Connolly
on Family and Consumer Affairs,
Mrs. S. Pepper on Agriculture
and Canadian Industries.
Mrs. R. Bell and Mrs. James
Drummond gave the District
Annual Report. Mrs. Glenn Bell
offered to make a quilt block for
the Erland Lee Homestead and
also to make a gift for the Craft
table for the Area Convention.
Mrs. James Chalmers was
hostess and Mrs. M. Connolly was
co-hostess.

Mrs. Elzar Mousseau, who has
been a patient in Victoria

Mrs. Earl Haist. Ella Morlock,
Mr. & Mrs, Dave McClure and
Mr. & Mrs. Nelson Lamport took
the bus trip arranged by the
Huron County Historical Society
of which Mr. McClure is
president.
Forty-one members visited the
Simcoe County Pioneer Museum,
the Martyrs' Shrine and Sainte
Marie among the Hurons,
Midland. Collingwood and
Eugenia Falls.
The trip afforded a variety of
sights unlike those one is ac-
customed to in South Huron.
Friday, Dave McClure joined a
party of fifty Ontario geography
teachers on a flight to Labrador.
They toured Schefferville where
there is an open pit iron mine,
and the McGill Subaretic
Research Station nearby.
They visited Churchill Falls as
guests of the Power Corporation.
Buses took the visitors into the
tunnels to view the nearby
completed power development,
the largest in the world,
There was still some snow on
the hillsides and ice on the lakes.
Residents jokingly say they have
eleven months of winter, one of
summer.
Sunday the teachers were at
Sept. Iles to see the huge docks
from which the Schefferville ore
is loaded on boats.
The homeward journey in the
DC3's was made at an altitude of
two thousand feet in clear
weather, affording an excellent
