Among the guests who attended a Miracle Maid Cookware demonstration at the home of Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson, Thur- sday evening, were Mr. & Mrs. Ray Regular, Mr. & Mrs. M. H. Elston, Mrs. Don Heaman and Karen, and Mr. & Mrs. Mac Lunn of London. The Neil picnic was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Tom Kooy on their production of "This Side of Paradise," a review of the 20's. So far they've visited Seaforth, Clinton, Zurich and Stratford. Thursday evening they en- tertained J xeter Senior Citizens in the high school gym. Although Mrs. Pat Quigley is their teacher, she is quick to point out that she had little to do with this production. "This time it's been their's entirely," she said. "They even went on the tour by themselves," Much of the dialogue was written by two' of the students, Cathy Cooke and Joan Forrest. Steve Read provided the sound. Mrs. Quigley said that a great deal of the credit for this production, which involves many dance numbers goes to Deb Wooden. "She's been tremendous," Mrs. Quigley said. "She taught all the kids how to dance. She even made up the dances. We just gave her the music and told her what we wanted." The Theatre Arts course is an option that students can take at two levels. The first course teaches the basics of theatre — how to move, how to control your body and how to express yourself. The second year, students go into actual production. Last year was the first time the course was offered, but it is proving popular. From one class last year, it has grown to three this year with five scheduled for next fall. Last fall, the class took a children's theatre production on a tour of 12 area public schools. They also received an award for the best play at the Huron District Festival with their production of "Interview." And the students received some awards for acting. Enthusiasm for the course runs high and it certainly proved contagious at the Thursday night performance. The audience loved it, applauding generously and laughing easily. The students, obviously having a ball, ate it up. Even after the audience had gone home, the show was not over. Despite the heat in the gym, someone put the recording of "The Sting" on and a few of the students began hamming it up for the rest of them. There were screams of laughter and lots of easy kidding, the kind that happens only bet- ween people who have learned to work together comfortably. As one girl put it, we've become "just a little family."
