MIA rRucx; TRACTOR T.I.Rik" GO Only 110 attend clink Blood donorstake dro wrote a great deal of Alberta's history in a series of articles that are now in the Provincial Museum and Archives. Miss Elston left Exeter in 1908 to go to Edmonton where she taught home economics and millinery at the Edmonton Technical Institute. But she always wanted to write, so she set off in horse and buggy, and later by car, to set- tlements throughout the province, interviewing settlers and putting their comments down on paper. Her writing perhaps best in- dicates the kind of person she was, She wrote with sympathy and a deep understanding of the struggles of Ukrainian settlers trying to adapt to a new way of life in Alberta in the early 1900's. Concerned about the problems of immigrants, she wrote articles for several eastern Canadian publications so other Canadians would know about them as well. Beginning as an amateur photographer she took many of the pictures that accompanied her articles, She carefully preserved copies of everything she wrote and donated three scrapbooks of history to the museum in 1965. Later, with the help of her sister she ran a millinery shop in the old Heintzman Building on Jasper Avenue in EdmOnton until her retirement in 1942. 1'''' "0 YOUR CHOICE '"I ROUND BROILERS 10 LB AVERAGE THESE FOOD 754 lreeiretidebokalk CHICKEN SPECIALS CAPONS LB TURKEY 6- PORK SHOULDER ROASTS FRESH LB 59` RED HOT 1 LB PK G FREEZER BUYS S chneider 's Weiners 89` FRESH Pork SELECT 12 - 14 LB AV.
