of the Fiddlers contest, June 15.
They had a Harvest Dance, and
sold tickets on a three minute
shopping spree or $30 in cash, and
assisted the Kinsmen with the
Cystic Fibrosis Dance on May
4th. Kinette cook books were also
sold, Profits from these projects
are returned to the community in
many ways.
On Palm Sunday the Kinettes
visited the shut-ins from our
community and gave them a
potted plant, and at Christmas
they take them a tray of assorted
homemade goodies and fruit,
Two scholarships of $25 each are
presented to the highest boy and
girl in Grade 8 each year. The
club entertains patients at the
Goderich Psychiatric Hospital
and sponsors an Italian child
through the Canadian Save the
Children Fund.
For several years they have
canvassed the community for the
Ability Fund and made donations
to the Arthritis Society,
Remembrance Day Wreath,
C,N.I.B., Salvation Army, War
Memorial Hospital, Girl Guides,
Mental Health Association, and
Cystic Fibrosis. A donation was
made to Huronview at Clinton to
help buy a bus for the patients.
The Kinettes entertained the
patients at the Queensway
Nursing Home at Christmastime
and presented them with a gift.
They sponsored an eight week
babysitting course for the
teenagers in the community, and
paid for a months supply of ice
time so the children could have
free skating.
The Kinettes have helped the
Kinsmen pay for the Firemen's
Resuscitator, and made a
donation to the Firemen for the

Communion, Confirmation,
and the welcoming of members
from other churches was held in
Hensall United Church Sunday
morning. The choir sang the
anthem "Come, spirit come",
and Rev. Don Beck preached on
the sermon topic "Following
Jesus".
Candidates being confirmed
were Mrs. Doris Hamilton,
Chiselhurst, Nancy McCurdy,
Dale Simmons, Betty Beer,
Susan Beck, Paul Wareing,
Deana Reaburn, Christine
McGregor, Dwight Consitt, Mrs.
Joan Corbett, Mrs. Linda Mac-
Millan and Mr. Don MacMillan,
all of Hensall.
Mrs. Joan Corbett and Mrs.
Linda MacMillan received the
rights of baptism. Members
being welcomed from other
churches were Mr. & Mrs. Harold
Parsons, Chiselhurst, Mr. & Mrs.
Earle Shapter and Mr. & Mrs.
Pat O'Brien.
The flowers in the church were
from the funeral of the late Harry
Armstrong,
Anniversary Service
Rev. Winston Newman of
Shakespeare was in charge of the
Anniversary service of Carmel
Presbyterian church on Sunday.
The guest soloist was Mrs.
William Taylor who sang "He"
and the choir sang the anthem "A
Garden is a Hallowed Place"
under the direction of the
organist Mrs. Malcolm Dougall.
Communion service will be
held on Sunday June 9 at 11:30
a.m.

Catharine McEwen, nurse-in-
training at Guelph visited over
the weekend with her parents,
Mr. & Mrs. Hugh McEwen.
Mrs, Grace McEwen attended
the graduation of her niece, Mrs.
Helen MacKay, held in the
Legion Hall at Exeter on Thur-
sday evening. Mrs. McKay
graduated in Business ad-
ministration from a course at
Conestoga College.
Dinner guests with Mr. & Mrs.
John Corbett, Sunday were
members of their family in-
cluding Mr. & Mrs. Robert Chaffe
and sons, Mitchell; Mrs. Ross
Corbett, Steven and Jeff; Mr. &
Mrs. Al Corbett, RR 1, Exeter.
Constable Douglas Wein of the
R.C.M.P. Toronto, Mrs. Wein and
David and Mr. & Mrs. Don Dalton
of Seaforth visited over the
weekend with their parents Mr. &
Mrs. Harold Parker, and were
guests at the Parker-Cann
wedding Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs. William Shaddick
and son of London were weekend
visitors with the former's mother
Mrs. Pearl Shaddick, and with
Mr. & Mrs. George Parker and
family.
Explorers
enjoy picnic
Carmel Presbyterian
Explorers 1st Annual picnic was
held last Saturday at the home of
Mrs. Al Hoggarth. Nine
Explorers and three C.O.C.
members attended.
A soccer game before lunch
proved that both teams were
equal, however after lunch the
races brought forth winners, The
trophies for first, second and
third places as over all cham-
pions were won by Becky Baker,
Sandra Nixon and Murray
Taylor.
Greg Hoggarth kicked his shoe
the farthest and Lisa Stretton and
Becky Baker won the three-
legged race. Paul Hoggarth won
the sack race and Murray Taylor
and Paul Hoggarth won the
wheelbarrow race. Jerry Faber
won the C.O.C. race. Explorers
and C.O.C. are finished for now
but will resume again in the fall.
Ernie Chipchase
initiated at lodge
A number of members of
Amber Rebekah Lodge 349 at-
tended the Initiation service of
Huronic Lodge, Clinton on
Monday evening when Bro. Ernie
Chipchase was initiated into
membership.
• The' 'Members of Amber Lodge
349 presented the floor work in
the degree. A social hour was
enjoyed.
An agreement on operational
cost sharing for the waste
disposal site was reached by
Hensall Council Monday night.
Under this agreement the town
will pay 30 percent of the costs,
the feed mills, 40 percent, Bendix
Home Systems Ltd., 20 percent
and Big 0 Tile 10 percent.
Frank Parsons, caretaker of
the Disposal Site is resigning and
Council voted to advertise for a
replacement.
Councillor Harold Knight
reported that the various
Councils involved are being
contacted regarding Fire
protection but nothing has been
finalized,
Council endorsed the resolution
of the Regional Municipality of
Peel regarding rough play in
hockey. Some Council members
thought fighting could be stopped
at hockey games if the fighting
players were barred from die
game.
George Parker informed
Council that he wanted a stump
removed and something done
about drains.Council decided to
refer the matter to the engineer.
Council decided that there
wasn't much they could do about
the Retail Merchants resolution
on uniform business hours.
A Bylaw was approved for the
cancellation of assessments for
Patrick O'Brien, R.- Rowcliffe
and Robert Irwin.
Regarding Arena financing,
council was advised that the
Agriculture money was all gone.
Councillor Neilands and Reeve
Baker will take a bus trip to the
Ontario Hydro Generating Plant
at Pickering.
Building permits were issued to
Robert Erb, for a residence on
Yorke Crescent; Tom Neilands
for a residence, Paul Neilands for
a garden shed, Harold Knight for
a garage, L. Noakes for siding
and Oliver Jaques for siding.
Council 'approved the Bursary
Plan of the owners of Queensway
Nursing Home for a student from
Sbuth Huron District High School
studying nursing.
Councillor Leonard Erb will
make the draw at the Penny Sale.
Council learned that Reid had
paid $300 for gravel and all bills
and accounts were ordered paid.

Clifford Price and friend from
Toronto and Mr. & Mrs. Ron
Page and son David, Burlington
were recent visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. Harry Horton in Hensall.
Mrs. Don MacLaren, Brooke
and Jodi of Oakville spent the
weekend with the former's
parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne
Chapman and also visited with
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor. Mrs.
MacLaren was a guest at the
Parker-Cann wedding on
Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs. William Hoy
returned home after visiting with
Mr. & Mrs. Michael Hoy in
London.
Review Kinette highlights
The fund raising projects of the
Kinette Club this year included a
fall and spring rummage sale, a
food booth at the Hensall spring
fair and the Fiddlers Contest.
They are planning to have an
afghan draw the Saturday night
