Sangster asked council Monday
night to make Queen street a
through. street,. to ..allow easier
travel out of town by the fire
trucks,
At the same time Sangster
asked permission to purchase
tools and other items for the fire
department. Councillor Harold
Knight was instructed to check
the agreement with the neigh-
bouring townships regarding
purchases,
In future the town hall will be
locked at 6 p.m. each night and
the librarian will be supplied with
a key for use on nights the library
is open.
Councillor Paul Neilands had
reported youngsters were
causing damage in the halls of
the building.
Building permits were ap-
proved for John Simmons,
renovations, Gordon Munn,
construct a house; W.G.
Thompson and Sons, seed
cleaning plant; Hyde Bros. an all-
steel building.
Permission was also granted
for the establishment of a book
and hobby store at 121 King
street.
A general discussion took place
over the 1974 budget, Despite an
increase of $9,000 in the Huron
County requisition to $36,000 it
was felt the mill rate could be
lower than last year due to some
deductions and an increase in
assessments.

returned from a very pleasant
holiday in Hawaii.
Following a successful auction
sale, March 30, Mr. & Mrs.
Ernest Whitehouse have moved
to their new home in Egmond-
ville.
Mrs, Elzar Mousseau returned
home Wednesday from Seaforth
Community Hospital.
Jr. Farmers
Representatives of Huron
County Jr. Farmers, from
Exeter, Hensall, Seaforth,
Clinton and Goderich areas
conducted the church service at
St. Andrews Church, Kippen,
Sunday.
Leaders were John Kinsmen
and Monty Plumb, Kippen.
The Jr. Farmers choir and the
Henderson sisters of Seaforth
provided music with guitar ac-
companiment by Tom Melaney.
The annual meeting of The
Hensall Curling club Was held in
the arena auditorium 26th March,

for 4-H girls
The Hensall I, 4-H Club met at
the home of Mrs. Wm. Fuss
Monday evening for meeting VI.
Twelve members answered the
roll call, One Habit I will Follow
that will Help Make a Lovely
Complexion. Hairdresser Lynda
Bower was in attendance and
demonstrated hair care and hair
styles, and answered many
questions on hair products and
appliances. Next meeting will be
on April 9.
Meeting VI of the Glamour
Girls of Hensall Club II was held
at the home of Mrs, Peter
Bisback Tuesday evening. Topic
for discussion was hair, and three
main points discussed were: 1.
Three things you think are im-
portant to giving your hair care,
2. The type of hair you have and
how you care for it, 3. Four or five
things you learned about hair
styling.
After discussing these, the girls
experimented with wigs and
rollers creating different effects,
Then girls answered the roll call
which was "One health habit I
will follow that will help make a
lovely complexion". Instructions
for the special project were
talked over, and ideas for a skit
were presented and voted upon.

vitation to be guests of the
W.M.S. of First Presbyterian
church, Seaforth, April 18, next
meeting will be May 6.

service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Sunday. His sermon was
Christ First, Last and Always.
The Carmel-Caven Young
People's met Sunday evening in
the church,
Mrs. Margaret Ingram, who
was receiving treatment in
Clinton Community Hospital
returned to her home last week.
Mrs. Grace Harpole returned
home after spending the winter
months in Florida.
Bert Coleman of London visited
over the weekend with his
mother, Mrs. Gladys Coleman
and brother Ivan.
Mrs, W. Schilbe of Exeter is
spending a week with her
daughter and son in law Mr. &
Mrs. Wilmer Ferguson.
Mrs, Clarence Volland
presided at the regular meeting
of the Ladies' Aid, following the
W,M.S. meeting.
Arrangements were finalized to
cater at the Gould-Sangster
wedding on Saturday and also to
purchase some items required
for the church.
A number of officers and
members of Amber Rebekah
Lodge were guests of the Parkhill
Rebekah Lodge Tuesday
evening.
Bevan Bonthron has returned
from a seven-day vacation to the
Carribean; courtesy of the Sealy
Mattress Company of Toronto.
United Church Notes
A duet entitled, 'In the Garden',
sang by Don and Gail Travers
highlighted the service of wor-
ship in Hensall United Church
Sunday morning. Rev, Don Beck
preached on the sermon topic
"The end or the beginning".
Carmel WMS
host visitors
The W.M.S. of Carmel
Presbyterian church met
Monday evening with the Arnold
Circle and Home Helpers at-
tending.
Mrs. Harvey Hyde, president,
welcomed the guests and opened
the meeting with an Easter
poem.
Mrs. Edith Bell and Mrs.
Clarence Volland were in charge
of the devotional. Mrs. Bell
presented an Easter Meditation
entitled, Faithful Women and the
Empty Tomb. Vocal solos were
given by Sandra and Lesa
Volland accompanied by Karen
Volland on the guitar. Karen also
played a guitar solo.
