She had previously won three first prize'S for her speech and was the first pupil from Stephen Central to advance this far in public speaking. WMS The Church of God held their regular monthly WMS meeting at the home of Mrs. P. Bloomfield Thursday evening. President, Mrs. Rufus Turnbull, chaired the meeting. Mrs. Katie Vincent conducted the worship service. Roll .call was a home made Valentine and they were all presented to a senior citizen lady, Mrs. William Lawrence. Plans were made to do a quilt in the near future. The regular monthly meeting of the UCW was held in the church basement with 20 in at- tendance. Theme of this meeting held on Valentines Day was Love. Roll call was answered by Did You Know?. ,Business consisted of plans for aftending the Presbyterial at Mitchell and the Worlds Day of Prayer. Mrs. Wm. Blewett conducted the worship service and Mrs. Eva Bariteau read the scripture followed by meditation. Mrs. Louise Wilson read a poem, Art of Love, and Mrs. A, Dayman gave a reading, Thou Shalt Love, Mrs. Marlene Brenner read a paper of in- teresting facts of St. Valentine, A closing poem read by Mrs, Blewett entitled Renicence meaning Red Heart. Van- denbygaart with 12 present. Mr. & Mrs. Clark Kennedy returned Saturday from a three week holiday in Panama City, Florida. Mrs, Ada Read of Calgary, Alberta is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Myrtle McGregor. Mrs. Stuart Sweitzer is a patient at Victoria hospital London, Mrs. Lawrence Johnston spent a few days last week with her two daughters and granddaughter Robin at Southampton and Pt, Elgin. Mr. & Mrs. Jack Riddock of Corunna visited Sunday af- ternoon with Mrs. May Holt. Mrs. Olive Miller is home from St. Joseph's Hospital London where she underwent surgery. She spent a few days with her daughter Lynda in Stratford and a few days in Grand Bend with her sister Mrs. Mabel Gill before returning to her own home. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Love visited Sunday at Ailsa Craig with M. & Mrs, Cecil Lightfoot. ED NETHERCOTT Crediton IV, Tidy Teens 4-H girls met Wednesday evening at Marie Nethercott's home for the second meeting. A discussion was held on The Things That Count and each girl gave herself a manicure. Anna Marie Pertschy closed the meeting. members, mothers and daughters as guests. Mrs, Malcolm Davidson will be speaker. The delegate to go to the of- ficer's conference will be Mrs. Elson Lynn. It was moved to take the Federated News; to donate $15.00 to the Exeter Agricultural Society. The Recycling Committee gave their report and all glass bottles and jars and all papers saved for next meeting. Mrs. Wm. Routly and Mrs. Floyd Cooper served tea and cookies during the meeting. Social Club The Crediton and district Social Club held its Valentines dance Saturday evening. An enjoyable evening was spent listening and dancing to the Heywood Brothers. The hall was decorated for the occasion and lunch was served. ROSS SKINNER ,ELIMYILLE The Elimville Women's Institute held their February meeting Wednesday afternoon. The president, Mrs. Philip Johns opened the meeting with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. Bison Lynn was in charge of the program on Public Relations and Current Events, A sing song was followed by a reading, Send her a Valentine, by Ruth Skinner. Mrs. Lynn con- ducted a quiz on bed sheets and pillowcases, also a picture quiz using bath towels and sheets and gave a demonstration on proper folding of a fitted bed, sheet. Mrs. Ross Skinner introduced Mrs. Emerson Penhale who demonstrated the refinishing of driftwood, making it into beautiful pieces of art, The business was then con- ' ducted. Roll Call was answered with hints for good shopping. The March meeting will be held at the church March 13 with all 4-H Many teenagers today just go ahead and marry, expecting their folks to be good`supports about it. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Wm, Routly, Mrs. Harold Bell visited on Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. Jack Delbridge of Exeter. Mrs. Barry Robinson was in charge of the church service Sunday due to Rev, Barry Robinson convalescing with chicken pox. The congregational members will be in charge next Sunday.
