At the -Wean, 4. District Lions
Club meeting on Monday evening

read and discussed and a rebuttal
from Lion president Jim. Simp-
son was read and approved. It
will be forwarded to the paper.
A donation of MA WaS voted
to the Red Cress m lieu of a
canvass.
The district Lions .are Spon-
soring a $160,000.00 home for
emotionally disturbed deaf
children at Milton and a donation
°MOO. was voted to this project.
A letter of thanks was read
from "Care" and "Leader Dog
School" for the club's con-
tribution. These are the District
Al projects for 1973-74 and
$2,500,00 has been. donated to
each project.
Lion Don Leitch distributed
tickets for the $5.00 stag night to

commence their next project,
World of Food, Saturday, at 9:30

Play euchre
for Valentine
Thirty members of the Sun-
shine Group met Thursday af-
ternoon for a Valentine party.
Four contests were enjoyed and
were won by Mrs. Frank Hardy,
Sr., Mrs. Frank Jolliffe, Miss
Margaret Kelly and Gordon
Hotson. Mrs, Tom Emery, Sr.
gave a reading, The Game of
Life.
Euchre was played for high
score with Mrs. Donald Allen and
Fred Mcllhargey walking off
with the prizes.
Lunch conveners were Mrs,
W.S. Hebden and Mrs. Clarence
Rogers. Mrs. Lorne Barker and
Mrs. Allen surprised the mem-
bers and each other, with a
Valentine cake
Mr. Brewster spoke on The
Calling of Isaiah, saying that we
are not fit to come into God's
presence as we are, but through
the cleansing power of Jesus we
are made worthy,
Explorers hear
St.Andrew record
At the Lucan-Clandeboye
Explorer expedition Monday
evening,- Explorer Barbara
Richards conducted the opening
ceremony. Chief Counsellor Mrs.
Wm. Froats read Six Times Free
from the study book, David's
Friends.
Using one of the records of the
St. Andrew the Apostle choir, a
peppy singsong was enjoyed by
the girls. Lori Leitch and Beth
Arthurs led in worship on the
theme, Neighbours and Friends,
and Wendy Hern read a story,
Friends across Canada.
A Valentine heart relay and a
game called "Ha! Ha!" proved
hilarious,
On a poster of the Explorer
Tree, the girls outlined their
hands drawing the stars earned
within the outline.
There will be no expedition
next week but there will be one
after school Monday, March 4.
United
A new younger member of the
senior choir, Lennie Sockett, was
the soloist at the Lucan United
Church service Sunday morning,
singing The 23rd Psalm,
Rev. Ewart Madden spoke on
The Way of Healing, taking as his
text " . , . so Naaman went down
to the Jordan . . . and his flesh
became as a little child".
Naaman's healing was not just
physical but was also one of
cleansing of his spirit, after
which he became a follower of the
God of Israel.
All couples were invited to the
Couples' Fellowship at 8 pm
Thursday.
Next Sunday regular Worship
will be at 11:15 a.m. at 7 p.m. the
annual Scout-Guide, Cub-
Brownie service will be held
when parents and friends are

New Study Group
Formed
The first of a series of Prayer,
Share and Study groups was held
at the United Church manse,
Sunday evening. Rev. Ewart
Madden introduced the study
booklet, Daily Bread, and the
group discussed in pairs, then in
four's and bought their findings
to the total group.

U.C., London, Thursday.
Rev, "Robert Plant and Nancy
Hardy Of head office wer theme
speakers in the forenoon and in
the afternoon 12 workshops were
in action. Over 300 women
registered for the event.
Mrs. Hodgins was co-convener
of the Workshop on A Changing
Viewpoint, together with 'Mrs.
Fred Heaman of Parkhill and
Mrs. David Kestle of Clandeboye.

At the morning service Tim
Stutt led in congregational
singing, and Marlene Butler was
the soloist,
Rev. Ray Brewster in his
sermon stated that the blessings
God gave in the past will not keep
His people today, We must keep
pressing on to greater blessings
to be good Christians.
At the evening service Rick
Thornton led in singing with
Doug. Butler as soloisl and a trio,
Doug, Robert Holland, Junior
and Mrs. Roy Dykeman, sang
four numbers.
