Carlton Williams. The outdoor events included skating, tobogganing, broomball, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Snowmobile rides were provided for those free from competition, • Although the children were invited to compete in at least two events they were also encouraged to try snowshoeing 'and skiing, using the equipment loaned by some of the larger schools. Cindy Weston of Huron Hope was a gold medal winner in the 'junior girls skating competition and received a medallion for first prize. A hot noon meal was provided and many hungry children went back for second helpings. The sun shone in the afternoon as everyone gathered at the top of U.C. hill for tobogganing. Ladies quilt at Brinsley By GORDON MORLEY The February meeting of the UCW was held at the home of Mrs. Fred Lewis. Mrs. Jack Hodgson opened the meeting with a devotional. Scripture was read by Mrs. Fred Lewis. A paper on Love for Enemies and one on Taiwan Preachers was read by Mrs. J. Hodgson, Readings, 'Getting to Know Us', by Mrs. Edwin Morley, and 'To Show Our Love We Share' by Mrs. Wilbert Lewis were given one of the UCW projects is Wesley House, Hamilton, Ont, Mrs. George Lee presided over the business. Eight members answered the roll call. Lunch was served by Group I ladies. Personals Mr. & Mrs. Don Newey and girls of Kingston spent the weekend with the latters' parents Mr. & Mrs. Jack Trevi thick. Diane Lynn was a weekend visitor with Karen Hodgson. Mrs. Dyck and Mrs. Eva Allison visited Mrs. Harvey Tweddle Friday afternoon. Mr. Marshall, Who operates a Century Farm under the prefix "Merl Acres”, has !deep roots, in the purebred Holstein business m since he took over the home far located at Lot 9, Concession 13, Usborne Township in 1926, His first purebred Holstein was purchased in 1941 and he became a member of the Holstein "Association the following year. He has shown his cattle at the Huron County Black and White Show every year since then ex- cept in 1972 when duties as vice- president caused too greata burden. • The community has benefited greatly by Mr. ,Marshall's in- terest, He has been an active member of the Kirkton United Church serving as an elder, steward, and Sunday School teacher; he has served 25 years on the Kirkton Community Association Executive - five as Chairman; he has been a director and or chairman of the Usborne Township Federation of Agriculture; 14 years as director and or chairman of the Blanshard Municipal Telephone System; 10 years as a 4-H leader; Director of the Huron County Holstein Club; and Director of the Holstein- Friesian Association of Canada since 1961. The Marshall family consists of three girls and one boy.
