Canner field
for sports
Canadian Canners Ltd, wil be
asked to permit recreational
activities on their large field in
the Wellington-Nelsen St, Area.
It has been rumored for some
time at gxeter council and RAP.
meetings that the local firm:
would permit activities On the
field, but it wasn't until Monday's
RAP meeting that any concrete
-steps were taken in this regard.
If permission is obtained, it is
possible that the facilities would
be used by local soccer en-
thusiasts.
Dave Zylnk, an official of the
soccer group, met with RAP and
indicated there may be problems
in having adequate facilities -this
year.
The soccer association' is
considering the entry of senior
teams in the Ausable League as
well as the London and District
League. In addition, a full slate of
minor teams will perform again
this year.
In the past the teams have used
the SHDHS playing field, but
there is only room for one team
and there is even the possibility
this year that the field will be
unavailable due to a drainage
construction program being
considered,
When these details were made
known, RAP decided to seek
permission from the Canners for
use of the field east of the local
factory.

Malek, 707 Elizabeth street,
London. Constable Jim
McMeekin investigated and
listed damages at $300.

on the stock market as are the
bum steers.

woman, injured in two rear-end
traffic accidents in a 19-Month
span, was awarded damages
totalling $22,360 Tuesday in
settlements of two. Ontario

by a car on Highway 4 about six
miles north of London.

for the broken ribs and internal
injuries she suffered when the
car in which she was a passenger
was hit from behind by a tran-
sport truck on Highway 23 at
Whalen's Corners Dec. 9, 1971.
Two other woman, including

her neck and low back, received
$5,309 in the settlement. Marjorie
Gladys Mills, 48, of RR 1,
Granton, settled her suit for
$4,595. She had back, neck and
head pains and a cut left ear after
the accident.
The three women were
passengers in a car driven by
Bernice Jaques, RR.1, Centralia.
They were on their way to work
at Hall Lamp of Canada Ltd.,
Centralia— which has since gone
bankrupt — when the accident
occurred.
Mr. Justice David H.W. Henry
was told that Mrs. Jaques had
just picked up Mrs, Mills and
