HUGH MOR ENZ GRAND BEND The annual Webb reunion, descendants of the late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Webb, was held New Years Day at Crediton Community Centre with 77 in attendance. Those attending from this area were Mr, & Mrs. Max Turnbull, Mr. & Mrs, Arnold Gaiser, Mrs. Ira Stebbins, Mr. & Mrs. Stewart Webb and Mrs. Olive Webb. Other guests were present from United States, London, Parkhill and Zurich, Persona Is Mr. & Mrs. Max Turnbull , received two long distance phone calls from their family with holiday greetings, One was from Mr. & Mrs. Fred Turnbull and family who live in Florida and another from Mr. & Mrs. R.B. Turnbull of Walkerton, who were vacationing in Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Love and Patti with mother, Mrs, Isabelle Cann, Exeter. Mrs. Lennea Statton and' son Fred 'of Foil New Jersey with Mrs. May Holt and Mri. Lawrence Johnston. Special music was provided for the Christian Reformed Song Service by, Mr. Burgess of Vanastra and his pupils. Sandra Dale, Debbie Daun, Marie Flynn and Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Dale assisted with Monday's activities along with the regulars Mary Taylor, Norman Speir and Jerry Collins. A group of young people from the Blyth Christian Reformed Church visited the Home on New Years Day singing songs throughout the building. Eight tables of euchre and three of crokinole took part in Wednesdays games with volunteers from the Opus Club of Vanastra assisting. The Residents were en- tertained on Family Night with a return visit from the Bradley Family. The Bradleys came to Clinton from Ireland one year ago and are becoming famous for their fine musical talent. Mrs, Leybourne, who was born in Ireland, thanked the entertainers on behalf of the Residents. '4'0 1a41 News from Hensall UC Rev. Donald Beck preached On the sermon topic "What did you get from Christmas?" at the Sunday service in Hensall United Church. Installation of officers for the United Church women was held. The choir sang the anthem "Jesus Came, the Heavens Adoring", from the new hymn book accompanied by Mrs. Turkheim on the organ. The , flowers in the Church were in memory of the late James Drummond. Sunday School started anothei 10 week session on Sunday. A film "Mary Bible" was enjoyed by all. Awards were handed out by Superintendent Cecil Pepper to the children who had perfect attendance or only missed one Sunday during the first session. Unit IV Unit IV of Hensall United Church met Thursday afternoon at the Church for the opening meeting of the new year, with Mrs. J. McAllister presiding and Mrs. J. Horton acting as Hostess. Mrs. McAllister opened the meeting with a thought on Thank- fullness followed by the Lords prayer. Mrs. E. Pym gave a very in- spiring devotion using the theme "Faith", and reading scripture from Hebrews. Mrs. L. Mickle favoured everyone with two lovely piano solos. The study on different articles from the Observer was given by Mrs. McAllister, It was reported that there had been 44 visits made to the sick and shut-ins recently. List winners in Leg ion draw Mrs. Arthur Traquait of Woodstock was the lucky winner of a Stereo at the Christmas draw for the Hensall Canadian Legion held recently. Mrs. Doug Cooper, Kippen was the first prize winner of a money doll, and Beth Munn, RR 1, Exeter won $10 in the Legion - Ladies Auxiliary Christmas draw held recently. Up until the holidays the crowds were down over one hundred persons per game. It is hoped this new trend will continue as the last two home games against Tavistock and Clinton were very exciting, Lucan is here Friday night in what should be one of the better games, as there is very keen rivalry between these two teams. In their last 15 games the Hawks have won nine, lost five and tied one. Exeter Pee Wee's won the Legion Pee Wee tournament held here Sunday by defeating, Kin- cardine, Brussels and Goderich in that order. The final game against Goderich was possibly the best game our pee wees have played this season. So, congratulations are in order to coach Lloyd Moore, manager Bev Skinner and all the players on the team for , keeping the trophy in Exeter. This is the second year Exeter has won this event. Two weeks from this weekend January 26 and 27 Trenton, Michigan will bring six minor hockey teams to Exeter to help us celebrate Minor Hockey week in Canada.
