Exeter was the setting for the
wedding of Dorothy . Patricia
Moffatt and. Peter Gerald Mullen.
Parents of the couple are Mr. ISt
Mrs, Eldred Moffatt of Grimsby
and Dr. & Mrs. Gerald Mullen of
Walkerton.
Rev. Wilfred Jarvis officiated
and the organist was Mrs. Gerald
Moffatt, aunt of the bride.
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore an
original gown of white velvet with
deep collar and midriff trimmed
with lace and seed pearls, A
Juliet cap held her - shoulder
length veil and she carried a
cascade of gardenias and white
roses.
Mrs. John Locke of
Mississauga was matron of
honour and Nancy Marsh and
Karen Kydd, cousins of the bride
were bridesmaids.
Heather .Moffatt and. Melissa
Moffatt, cousins of the bride were
junior bridesmaids.
The groom was attended by his
brother Kelly Mullen and guests
were ushered by David Moffatt,
brother of the bride and Brian
Mullen, brother of the groom.
A reception was held at the
Pineridge Chalet, Hensall.
Showers were held for the bride
at the homes of Mrs. Gerald
Moffatt, Kippen, Mrs. Murray
Marsh, London and Mrs, Madje
Bailey, London.
The couple have taken up
residence in Port Elgin, Ontario.

formed recently at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church, Reedsburg,
Wisconsin,
The groom is the son of Mr, 8;
Mrs. Joseph Conlin, RR Lucan,
and the bride's parents are Mr. &
Mrs, Daniel Crowley, Lyndon
Station, Wis.
Bridal attendants were Mrs.
Janet Kahler, Mrs. Kathleen
Horkan, Mrs. Margaret Haefer
and Diane Haefer.
Attending the groom were Jack
-Conlin, Anthony Conlin and
Dennis
After a wedding trip to the
Bahamas the newly-weds took up
residence in Lucan. The bride, a
graduate of St. Mary's School of
Nursing, Madison, Wis., is
presently employed at University
Hospital, London and the groom,
a graduate of University of.

evening, showed pictures of last
year's centennial parade, Mrs.
Brenda Hennessey thanked Mr.
Down.
Ways and Means committee
gave out gourmet cook books for
sale.
Prize money from the
Christmas parade float enriched
each chapter by $50.00
Verla Russell presented an in-
teresting program on antiques
entitled. The Obsolete or
Precious, and the Connoisseur.
They spoke about antiques,
things they recalled from their
childhod and showed some old
articles to the group.
Roll call was answered by each
member telling what antique in
her home gave the most pleasure.
Members also brought old items
from their homes.
Plans were made for a tour to
Eldon House.
RECENT MARRIAGE - Judith Patricia Burke and Frederick Arthur Sim-
mons were married recently in a quiet ceremony at Rockwood
Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Donald Sinclair officiating. A
reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride's parents,
Mr, and Mrs. John Burke in Exeter. The groom is the son of Mrs. Fred
Simmons and the late Fred Simmons, also of Exeter. Both Mr. and Mrs.
Simmons Jr. are employed at group home for adolescents in Waterloo,

GUEST SPEAKER
Philip Moore, Hamilton will be
guest speaker at Coven
Presbyterian Church Sunday.
Philip, a former student of Exeter
Public and High Schools, will talk
about his experiences during a
five month stay in India last year.
During that period he lived most
of the time in a village in the
poorer part of the country with a
CUSO student from the United
States. However he also travelled
through India extensively and was
greatly impressed by the people
he met. After the regular church • service he will show slides to the
Sunday School and to any others
who are interested. Mr. Moore is
presently attending McMaster
University.

Mrs. Murray Gibson, Bryan-
ston was hostess recently at a
dinner party when 26 relatives
attended to honour two Exeter
brides, Mrs. Elliott. McRoberts
the former Audrey Gardiner, and
Mrs. Mike Hodgert the former
Marjorie Hawkins.
Mrs, Gibson read the address,
a poem composed by Isabelle
Fletcher and Norma. Hooper.
Mrs, Doris Mullins, London
presented a gift of money on
behalf of the Hoclgins and Fletcher
relatives to Mrs. McRoberts and
Mrs. Norma Hooper, Exeter,
presented a gift of money on
behalf of the Fletcher relatives to
Mrs. Hodgert.
Both ladies gave a very
suitable reply and everyone
joined in singing, For They Are
Jolly Good Fellows,
The afternoon was spent

highjacking skit
The evening unit of Exeter
United Church Women met
January 7, with Mrs. Carol
Willert in charge. She was
assisted by Mrs. Verla Russell.
An informal skit was presented
with six members representing
six well-known international
citizens on an airplane being
high-jacked.
The audience were the high-
jackers and had to decide which
three of the six were the most
valuable to society and thus be
given their freedom.
This skit led into a lengthy
discussion on how we can help
with missionary education.
Reports were given from
former units III and IV on 1973
activities, and the meeting ad-
journed with the groups in charge
serving lunch.

United Church Women was held
Monday evening with Mrs.
George Kellett as hostess.
Rev, Barry Robinson was in
charge of the installation service.
Mrs. Edwin Miller program
convener was in charge of the
meeting of which the theme was,
Beginning Again.
Mrs. Miller gave a New Years
worship service with Mrs. Lloyd
Ballantyne assisting reading
scripture passages.
A reading Recipe for a Happy
New Year, was given by Mrs.
Edwin Miller. Mrs. Cecil Burrill
and Mrs. Fred Johns sang a duet
accompanied by Mrs. Calvin
Christie.
Mrs. Miller introduced the
Study for this year, Mission
Impossible . . . Unless. Members
split up for discussion groups.
Skits were given by Mrs. Barry
Miller and Mrs. Lloyd Ballan-
tyne.
The new president Mrs. Lee
Webber conducted the business.
The minutes were read; roll
call and treasurers report were
given.
It was decided to give $25.00 to
the United Church Camp at
Goderich.

recent hostess for a shower in
honour of Mrs. Karl Schendera
(nee Regina Rodack) of London.
Karl was a former resident of the
Exeter community.
Several contests were enjoyed
and the hostess was assisted by
