Miss Margaret Smith of
Brisbane, Australia and Mr. &
Mrs. Gregg Smith and their five
year old son Geordie of Slacks
Creek, Australia are visiting with
their parents. Mr. & Mrs. Jack

Thamesford recently.
Hensall council will be holding
a special meeting in the near
future to deal with questions
about the proposed sanitary
sewage system.
One of the questions to be
brought up will be the method of
financing.
Councillor Harold Knight said
he felt the Ministry of the
Environment should be pushed a
bit to get the installation date for
sewers moved ahead at least one
year to 1975.
In a reply to a letter from the
Environment Ministry, garbage
at the village dump will be
covered Tuesday morning of
each week and signs erected to
designate the separation of
household garbage and burnable
materials.
Works foreman Ernie Davis
reported the catch basin in front
of the Wright property was
repaired and he had been busy
sanding sidewalks, He suggested
salt alone may do a better job.
Reeve John Baker said the
streets were "really bad" and
councillor Harold Erb of the
streets committee said he had
been receiving complaints about
slippery corners.
An application from H;
Schoonbeek of Clinton to operate
a taxi service in Hensall was
deferred to the next meeting when
the Clinton man will be asked to
attend. Council took no action on
a complaint from Wilfrid
Buchanan regarding the parking
of cars in front of his garage
which he claimed interfered with
his business.
Members of council and the
road foreman investigated the
matter and failed to find a serious
problem.

Achievement Day for the three
4-H clubs sponsored by Kippen
East W.I. was held in Zurich
January 5.
The leaders, for Kippen I were
Lynn Alderdice and Linda Bell;
for Kippen II, Mrs. Stoll and
Joanne Stoll, and for Kippen III,
Mrs. Postma and Sharon Brodie.
These leaders deserve much
credit for the presentations by
the girls, Congratulations are in
order, to Chris McGregor, Cathy
Bell and Debbie Consitt, who
received their county honours
and to Joanne Stoll who received
her provincial honours,
W. I.
Kippen East W,I, will hold
Family Night Friday in the
Legion Hall. The speaker will be
M. Millar from the Clinton Office
of Agriculture and Food.

Mrs. Arie Binnendyke is a
patient in Victoria Hospital,
London, having undergone
surgery last week. ,
Todd Caldwell is a patient in St.
Josephs Hospital, London,
Mr. & Mrs. Clayton Cooper,
Greenville, South Carolina, have
returned home.
Mrs. Norman Dickert is
holidaying in Harriston.

They will be returning to their
home the latter part of January.
Gregg is a graduate of the
University of Western Ontario
and University of Stockholm,
Sweden and is currently carrying
out research at the University of
Queensland is addition to doing
shows for radio and television.
Mr. & Mrs. Gregg Smith and
Geordie have travelled ex-
tensively throught the world and
will be departing for New Guinea
shortly after their return to
Australia to do documentary film ,
on the natives of the Torres Strait
Islands for the Auslralia
Broadcasting Commission.

service 'in Carmel Presbyterian
church Sunday speaking on the
subject, Adjusting to changes.
Mrs.MalcolmDougall presided at
the organ and led the choir, The
flowers in the church were in
memory of the late James
Drummond.

The January meeting of the
W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian
Church was held Monday af-
ternoon in the schoolroom of the
church.
Mrs. Percy Campbell read the
Scripture and led in prayer, Mrs.
Glenn Bell gave the meditation
on Keeping Care of God.
President Mrs. Harvey Hyde
read a message on Being a Good
Neighbour and outlined the new
study book, Why Missions To-
Day?
Mrs. Edgar Munn will be in
charge of the February meeting
on February 4, The World's Day
of Prayer Service will be held in
Carmel Church March 1. The
meeting concluded with a New
Year's prayer.
The Ladies' Aid meeting
followed when items of business
were discussed, with the
President Mrs, Clarence Volland
presiding.

dorsed.
Earl Shapter, formerly of the
Huntsville area officially took
Hensall 4-H Gourment Globe-
Trotters and their leaders Mrs.
Bill Fuss and Mrs. Ted Oud at-
tended the Achievement Day in
the Zurich arena Saturday with
clubs from Kippen, Varna,
Goderich and Zurich also at-
tending,
NEW HENSALL CLERK - Earl
Shapter, formerly of the Huntsville
area began his duties as clerk-
treasurer of the village of Hensall
this week. He previously held a
similar position in the township of
McMu rrich. T-A photo
over his duties as clerk-treasurer
and tax collector and was sworn
into office by his predecessor
Earl Campbell who held the
position for the last 14 years.
The morning was spent with
the girls being placed in different
groups for group discussion on a
food bingo, nationality map, food
identification, a world of food
quiz and general discussion on
this last club "A world of food in
Canada."
The afternoon program to
which the mothers were invited
took the form of each club either
acting out a skit or commenting
on a display. Hensall club acted
out the play "Too many cooks
spoil the Broth," which sure
created a laugh.
Comment on the exhibits was
given by Mrs. Joyce Anderson,
Home Economist, Brigden, and
comment on the demonstrations
and skits was given by Mrs.
Nancy Ross, Home Economist,
St. Marys.
Presentation of County
Honours (completion of 6 clubs)
went to Diana Odd, Agnes
VanEsbroeck, Chris McGregor,
Debbie Consitt, Cathy Bell,
Sylvia Neeb, Elaine Gingerich,

Lodge Wednesday evening,
assisted by the Vice Grand Mrs.
. Margaret , Consitt, mho reported,
for the visiting committee.
Mrs. Volland reported for the
CT.T, committee stating a
cheque had been forwarded to
Alex Meikle for the Eye Bank.
A receipt was recieived from
the Children's Aid Society,
Goderich for a donation received.

Secret Pal night will be held in
the Lodge rooms January 16,
Arrangements were made to
celebrate the 25th anniversary of
the Lodge, February 11, with a
banquet in Carmel Presbyterian
church if convenient with the
caterers.
