Board delays
new program
The Middlesex County Board of
Education this week decided to
delay until September 1975 the
introduction of industrial arts
and home economics programs
at North Middlesex District High
School for grades 7 and 8 pupils in
the north-west part of the County.
The board had intended to start
the programs in September 1974;
however some areas in the ad-
dition to be built at the school will
not be ready until early 1975.
In other business, the board
decided it could not continue,'
after June 1974, to provide a
crossing guard at Highway 4 in
front of M.B. McEachren School
in Lambeth. While traffic mat-
ters are a municipal rather than
a school board responsibility the
Middlesex Board assumed the
responsibility from the
predecessor board in 1969.
Community groups from which
the board has invited comments
on an Ontario government
committee's report on use of
educational facilities include the
elementary and secondary
teachers' federations, the London
and Middlesex Council of Home
and School Associations, the
Middlesex County Council, and
the recreation commissions of
North Dorchester and Strathroy.
