SCORE ON PENALTY SHOT — The first goal in Wednesday's 2-1 win by Grand Bend over Exeter in the an-nual novice hockey tourney was scored on a penalty shot. In the above picture Dean Courtney of Grand
Bend pulls goalie Peter Dearing out of position and backhands the puck into the net. The referee is John
Varley. T-A photo
All scoring was confined to the
first two periods of play as each
team scored twice in the first
period and the Jets notched the
only two scores of the middle
frame.
Rick Fifield and Jacques
Cousineau were the Jets
marksmen in the opening session
while Drew Haldane and Mike
Jackson replied for the Huskies.
Jack Nairn notched what
proved to be the winning goal at
12.27 of the second and Fifield
was back with his second of the
night less than two minutes later
to provide the necessary in-
surance.
Against Woodstock, Terry
Bourne and Jack Nairn each
fired two successful shots to lead
the Jets while single goals were
garnered by Jacques Cousineau
and Jamie Robb.
