Energy shortage
By STEVEN JAQUES
Grade? UCS
It was just a few year's ago
when Santa got a' snowmobile to
Speed up the runs on Christmas
eve. But now the energy crisis
had come up. Santa had to cut
back on a lot of things. Because of
the gas and electricity shortage
Santa had to sell his snowmobile
and go back to using his reindeer
and sleigh.
Santa had to turn off his
Christmas lights and use candles.
Santa had just put in a machine to
wrap the presents so the little
elves did not have to wrap all the
gifts,
But Santa had to sell the
machine and the elves had to
work as hard as before. But I
think Santa will be able to do his
runs on Christmas eve anyway.

When Christmas comes, with the
scent of Holly
When carols are sung, the ritials
begun
With Santa fat and jolly.
When in the stable on that sacred
night
When the little babe was born,
The world was touched by a
radiant light,
On that Blessed Christmas morn!

A CHRISTMAS POEM
By LEAH VAN ROESSEL
Grade 5
Precious Blood
Christ was born on Christmas
day;
He lay upon a bed of hay.
Risen from the star above,
It was a baby born with love.
Shining from a big, big star,
Three wise men came from very
fgr.
Mary was the mother of Him,
Angels sang a glorious hymn
Saints in heaven smiled down,
And no one heard a single sound.
TINY TIM THOMPSON AND
HIS BEST MERRY CHRISTMAS
EVER
By STEVE PEARCE
Mrs. Thompson was busy
knitting a Christmas stocking.
Tiny-Tim, Bobby and little sister
were all talking about Santa and
Christmas toys.
"I want a big doll," said little
sister, "I'd like a cowboy suit,"
said Bobby. And Tiny Tim said,
"I want a real racing car that
goesVAROOM."• "But Tiny
Tim," said mother,Santa. and his
helpers are too busy to make a
real racing car. Perhaps he
might bring you a toy one."
"BRRRING!" went the
telephone, Tiny Tim answered.
He listened.
And he said: "Yes, I would love
to but I will have to ask per-
mission."
He whispered a question in
Mrs. Thompson's ear. "Well,"
said mother, "If he asked you,
you can't refuse. Yes you may go.
The Thompson family drove
Tiny Tim to the airport. Tiny Tim
where are you going?" Bobby
asked him. "WS a secret," but
I'll be home for Christmas."
Where is Tiny Tim going. Do
you know?
Away flew Tiny Tim, on a long,
long voyage. When the plane
landed, someone was waiting for
him, Who could it be? It is Santa!
Tiny Tim was at Santa's house
at the North Pole! All of Santa's
helpers were sick in bed with
colds.Santa had no one to help
make the toys so Tiny Tim would
help Santa!
"We must hurry," said Santa.
"We have so many toys to make
in my workshop and so little time.
Tiny Tim and Santa worked day
after day making all kinds of
toys. But will they finish before
Christmas.
At last, Santa and Tiny Tim got
finished, and thanks to Tiny
Tim's help they got finished one
day before Christmas. Santa
said, "we must leave now for we
don't have much time left."
Santa and Tiny Tim were on their
way and delivered all the
presents to the children. Santa
and Tiny Tim came to Tiny Tim's
house just in time for Tiny Tim to
celebrate Christmas with his
family. Bobby, Little Sister and
Tiny Tim all managed to get what
they wanted also Santa ClauSe,
Mrs. Santa and the Thompson
family all want to wish you THE
BEST MERRY CHRISTMAS
EVER!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING
By CATHERINE ABBOTT
Grade 8
Usborne Central
Up goes the giant tree.
The people are sparkling and
gay.
The lights are blinking off and on,
For here comes the Holiday.
In the town the lights are up,
And the parade with Santa's been
here,
The hustle and bustle is all
around,
For Christmas Day is near.
Mother's making food to eat.
Friends will make amends.
Father hangs up ornaments.
We're sending cards to friends.
Sister talks to Brother,
In lots of secrecy.
Maybe a,book, or maybe a game,
Planning what to get for me.
Oh, Christmas time is coming,
You can tell by many things.
Yes, Christmastime is coming,
Hear the "Christmas Greetings"
ring.
THE NIGHT BEFORE
CHRISTMAS
By HEATHER MEIKLE
Grade 8
Exeter P.S.
The candle in the window,
Flickers in the night.
The star upon the tree,
Shines ever so bright.
All the lovely presents,
Are ready to be received.
Everything's in readiness,
Upon this Christmas eve.
The ivy ,that's in the halls,
Hang so fresh and green.
The brilliance of the stars,
Is splendid to be seen.
The food upon the table,
The lights upon the tree,
All the children in their beds,
Upon this Christmas eve.
The carollers are singing,
With voices loud and clear,
The bells upon the steeple,
Ring loudly far and near.
The table's set in splendour,
For everyone to see.
All the world awaits,
Upon this Christmas eve.
