Mrs. Britton read a poem. The Pepper girls, Brenda, Marilyn, Laurie and Jo-anne sang several numbers ac- companied by Brenda on the piano. The Gloor girls, Rita, Cheryl, Sharon and Cindy sang a number with Greta Lammie at the piano. Roll call was answered by 23 members by saying something nice about the person on your left. Brother passes away in Holland Mr. & Mrs. Sim Roobal received a telegram from Holland on Thursday telling them that Sim's brother Peter Roobal aged 66 had passed away quite suddenly at his late residence. Girls present vesper service By NIBS. FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA The C.G.I,T. vesper service, Because of a Life presented in the church Sunday evening drew a good attendance. Mrs. Ray Mills was the pianist for the service. The girls will be carol singing in the village Tuesday evening. Personals White Gift Sunday will be observed in the United Church Sunday morning. In the evening there will be a Christmas service for both congregations in the Zion West Church, Mr. & Mrs, Matt Konrad of Hamilton were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Molnar. Mr. & Mrs. John Thompson visited over the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Grant Brown and family in Sarnia. Donna and Linda Wilson were among the girls who attended the 4-H club Achievement Day in Parkhill, Saturday. SANFORD HUTTON WINCH ELSEA Club No. 3 of Elimville 4-H Girls with their leaders Mrs. Wayne Prance and Mrs, Murray Coward entertained the parents recently. Janet Kerslake welcomed the parents. A delicous meal was then enjoyed by all at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Prance, consisting of casseroles and dishes from other countries which the girls had learned in the club "A World of Food in Canada", Diane Hutton gave an ex- planation of the different foods we had eaten. After the meal the girls put on a programme which was enjoyed by all. Mr, Ted Van Rostell thanked the girls and leaders on behalf of the parents, Persona Is Mr. & Mrs. Harry Sperling, London visited Thursday with Mr. & Mrs. Freeman Horne. Janie Barton and Don Hutton of Centralia College visited Sunday with Mr, Si Mrs, Sanford Hutton, Dennis and Diane. Minutes were read by secretary Grace Peck, and a financial report was given by Marg Ingram. Correspondence was a report from Eric Luther on the Blind Canvass held recently in the village. Achievement Day will be held in Zurich, January 5. Janis Bisback was appointed as an assistant delegate to the Mentally Retarded Association. Mrs. McAllister read an article from Brother Bob who resides in Northern India, Hilda Payne reviewed the January meeting schedule. Everyone joined in singing a Christmas carol, and Janis )3isback 'gave a few remarks on the traditions of Christmas now in 1973, and also read a poem. Miss Amy Lammie introduced the special guest for the evening, Mrs. Jean Durst of Egmondville, who demonstrated the making of Christmas decorations. This demonstration was most in- teresting and colorful, • Mrs. Britton thanked Mrs. Durst. Hilda Payne gave cour- tesy remarks. Hostesses Winnie Skea and Joyce Pepper and their assistants served a Christmas lunch. Church women assist charity The Christmas meeting of the Chiselhurst UCW was held Tuesday afternoon in the sanc- tuary of the Church which was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Mrs. Alvin Cole presided and opened with a poem, Christmas Blessings, Mrs. Harold Parker gave the Christmas worship assisted with the scriptures by Mrs. Vera Brintnell, Mrs. Earl Kinsman, Beatrice Boyce and Mrs. Tom Brintnell. Mrs. Richard Taylor had the program and gave a poem, Christmas in the Country. It was decided to send $25 to Mission and Services in London. Volunteer help was asked for to help to wrap Christmas gifts for the Children's Aid in Exeter, Rev. Beck gave a very in- spiring Christmas message and the meeting was closed with prayer. Hostesses were Mrs. Richard Taylor, Mrs. Rosa Harris and Mrs. Clarence Coleman. Music features special service Rev. Don Beck preached on the Christmas meditation, My Christmas Dream, for the Advent III at the White Gift service in Hensall United Church Sunday. The children's choir under the direction of Norma Pryde and assisted by Shirley McAllister sang many selections throughout the service. Solos were sung by Tim Rowcliffe and Randy Parker. A special number was the girls' chorus of Becky Baker, Lisa Stretton, Sandra Dixon, Marilyn Pepper, Mary Drysdale, Laurie Pepper, Lori Flynn, Jo-anne Pepper, Vicki Mann, Janet McAllister and Sandra McCurdy. On the drum was Brad Mann, bongo Jerry Smith, and tam- bourine Lisa Stretton, Five boys, Paul Mansfield, Murray and Steven McGregor, John Mickle and Murray Wareing read the scripture lesson in unison. Lori Flynn lit the III Advent candle on the wreath. A carol service was held in the evening. The youth choir sang four numbers accompanied on the piano by Norma Pryde, A duet, Star of the East, was sung by Gail Travers and Janis Bisback accompanied at the piano by Helen Goddard, Christmas carols were sung and scripture lessons were read from Isaiah, Samuel and John and Luke. At the conclusion of the service, Karen McAllister and Mrs. Turkheim played a piano duet. Lodge lists draw winner Members of Loyal Orange Lodge No. 710 and their wives held their annual dinner, December 14. After a delicious dinner a euchre party was en- joyed. Ladies high was won by Mrs. Viola LamPman, Clinton, ladies lone hands by Mrs. Wilfred Glazier, Clinton, and consolation by Mrs. Wittington, Clinton. Men's high was won by John Henderson, Brucefield, mens lone hands by Daniel Glidden, Clinton and mens consolation by Norman Livermore of Clinton, After the euchre a draw was held for a $50 first prize and a $10 second prize. First prize was won by Mrs. Allan Lightfoot of Stanley Township and the second prize by Mrs. Pearl Day of Hensall.
