After the church service
Sunday, the congregation sat
down to a turkey and ham dinner
served by the ladies.
The younger girls and boys of
the nursery and primary classes
took part in a Sunday School
concert which everyone enjoyed.
Santa came at the close of the
program and distributed the
presents from under the
Christmas tree,
Mr. & Mrs. George Wilkinson,
Exeter, visited Sunday with Mr.
& Mrs. Edwin Morley.
Marilyn Luther visited over the
week-end with Cindy Prest.
The UCW were invited to Mrs.
Pickering's home Wednesday
evening for their December
meeting,
Brinsley U,C.W. were invited to
a smorgasbord dinner last week
at St, Mary's Church, Brinsley.
Social evening was enjoyed
consisting, of Mrs. Corbett
showing slides of their trip to the
Canary Islands.
Mrs. McLeish and daughter of
Hamilton, and Mrs. Snelgrove,
Exeter, visited Sunday with Mr.
& Mrs. Jim Thompson.
Orchestra and Four Counties
Choir Concert at Alumni Hall
Wednesday evening. Their son,
Bill, is a member of the choir,
Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs.
Clare Woodburn upon the birth of
a son.

ticing for their Christmas
program, to be held December

Byron Brown, Toronto, visited
with his brother and sister-in-
law, Mr. & Mrs. Ross Brown, and
with other relatives, Saturday.
Mr. & Mrs. Eric Brown Lon-
don, were Saturday visitors with
Mr. & Mrs. Ken Larmer.
Lillian Ulens visited one day
recently with her aunt, Mrs.
Lillie Matthews, a resident of the
McCormick Home, London, who
is in her 98th year, and enjoying
good health,
Mr. & Mrs. Russell Brown
visited Sunday with Mr, & Mrs.
Gordon Wilson, Thedford.

woman is one who can stay on the
phone longer than on a diet.
At a dance the young lady had
just been introduced to her
partner. By way of conversa-
tion, she said, as they waltzed
around the ballroom floor:
"Who is that terribly ugly
man sitting over there?"
Her partner looked at the man
she indicated.
"Why that's my brother!" he
exclaimed.
"Oh, you must excuse me,"
said the lady, in embarrass-
ment, and added apologetically,
"I really hadn't noticed the
resemblance."

The Christmas meeting of the
United Church Women 'was held
at the manse Thursday evening
with 33 present.
Mrs. Bev Morgan conducted a
Christmas devotion • Mrs.
Fleming Simpson read different
'Christmas passages from the
Bible with Mrs. Morgan reading
between, and the singing of
Christmas carols.
A skit, The Angels Point of
View with Mrs. Bev Morgan,
Mrs. Archie Etherington and
Mrs. William Rowcliffe was
presented. Mrs. Morgan closed
the worship service with a prayer
and a poem.
Mrs. Ballantyne then con-
ducted the business. Roll call was
answered by a Christmas wish.
Cards of thanks were read.
The meetings for next year
have been changed to Monday
evenings from Thursday
evenings.
The groups have. also been
changed, and will be called the
U's, the C's, and the W's.
The secret pal gifts were ex-
changed. Mrs. Robinson served
lunch along with Group
Ballantyne thanked Mrs,
Robinson for having the meeting
in her home,
C.G.I.T. Program.
Friday evening Mrs. Barry
Robinson was chairlady for their
program, Christmas Capers.
Different Commercials were
given by girls taking part which
were very humorous.
Piano solos were given by
Brenda Ballantyne, Elaine Pym
and Lori Lynn Stewart, and piano
duets by Elaine Pym and Lori
Lynn Stewart.
A skit, Summer memories was
enjoyed.
Donna Stewart gave a reading
and Mrs. Robinson led in
Christmas singing with Mrs.

Santa Claus is coming to Huron
Park December 16, at 6:30 p.m.
He'll be touring the park with his
helpers, passing out bags of
goodies to all his little friends.
For those of you who were not at
home when the fire fighters made
their canvass to determine the
number of children, do not worry,
there'll be enough for all. Chief
Robichaud is making
arrangements with Santa to
bring extras, even for those on
Algonquin with the mumps.
Sunday afternoon prior to the
Santa parade the firemen will
give their children the chance to
meet the old fellow at the fire
hall.
North Star
Keeping in the Christmas
spirit, things are happening: The
North Star employees led by
Gerry Cole held their annual
Christmas party at the Exeter
Legion Friday evening. An en-
joyable time was had by all,

A play, The Origin of Silent
Night, was well received.
After the program everyone
went to the basement where a
bazaar table filled with many
gifts and baking and candy were
sold.
Lunch was then served by the
C.G,I.T, girls and their leaders,
Mrs. Edward Johns, Mrs. Larry
Lynn and Mrs. Glen Stewart.
C.G.I,T. Vesper Service
Around 100 people attended the
C.G.I.T. vesper Service in the
church basement Sunday
evening. The title was Because Of
A Life.
Christmas devotions were
given by a number of the girls
while the remainder of the
members were in the choir.
Mrs. Reg Hodgert was the
organist for the program.
The Sunday School concert is
December 14 at 8 p.m.
White Gift Service
The White Gift Service was a
combined service Sunday
morning. The Theme for the
service was, Love Lived —'73.
Donald Kernick superintendent
of the Sunday School was in
charge of the service. Scripture
readers were Diane Hodgert, Lee
Hodgert, and Michael Stewart.
A play, The Story of White
the festive spirit, Hall Lamp
employees will hold their
Christmas party December 15 at
the recreational Center. The
management will shed their tears
over a last supper on the same
night at the Crediton community
hall.
Employees of Hall Lamp thank
Scott McNair, Frank Dubarry,
and Rod Hepburn for their ef-
forts, as outsiders, on the picket
lines, helping try and stop the
closure of the industry.
Dunline
Santa was kept busy as Dunline
held their party December 8 at
the Centralia Community Center.
Lucky that Santa gets around so
fast!
Can you imagine anyone
wanting to miss the holiday
season in Canada? Well one of
our Minor Hockey Members of
good standing, and a money
maker, is off with her children on
an extended holiday to visit her
folks. in New Zealand.

Cubs
Akela and his helpers were
invested last week, As the big
wolf, Ron Riley, was considered
the best to lead the pack. He's
doing a fine job. As pack leaders,
Linda Riley, Cris Somman,
Sharron Sutherland and Larry
Savage we're given the op-
portunity to train the boys into
leading citizens. This week all
available cubs will be invested
into the pack.
In conjunction with the tight
minor hockey schedule, begin-
ning January 8, Cubs will be held
Tuesday nights instead of
Mondays. December 17, a
Christmas party is to be
celebrated at the cub pack
(recreational center) and an
exchange of gifts will be part of
the festivities.
Figure Skating Club
The Huron Park figure skating
club is an important pert of the
community, and in the near
future, it will be in need of sup-
port if it is not helped shortly in
some Way, The club is a small but
important part of the
organization of a Park of this
size. Any suggestions or con-
tributions will be apreciated by
either Mrs. Condor or Mrs. Schell
who both live on Algonquin Drive.
