The Christmas meeting of the
Clandeboye WI was in a beautiful
Christmas setting at the home of
Mrs. M. J. Simpson, Fourteen
ladies answered the sing, say or
pay roll call.
The president Mrs. W. Scott
chaired the meeting. Gifts were
brought for the Cancer Cupboard.
Mrs. P. Groenewegen was in
charge of the program. She read
about traditions of Christmas.
Lucille Blake wrote and read a
Christmas ' poem, Christmas
today and , yesterday. Mrs. N.
Hardy read What is Christmas?
Contest, Christmas Nuts to
Crack was won by Mrs. R. Neil,
Mrs. K. O'Neil gave a paper, My
Christmas wish.
Mrs. R. Neil, Mrs. R. Wor-
thington assisted the hostess to
serve lunch.
January meeting will be at the
home of Mrs. N. Hardy,

at the retirement party for Mr.

Zion West United Church
U.C.W. held their Christmas
meeting last Wednesday evening.
The worship service entitled
The Angels Message, was ably
presented by Mrs. Ray Jaques
and Mrs. Clifton Jaques.
A skit The Visited Planet, with
illustration was given by Mrs.
Earl French, Mrs. Gerald Kern,
and Mrs. Clifton Jaques.
A candle lighting installation
service for the 1974 officers was
conducted by Mrs. Robert Hern
after which the business was
discussed and reports were
given.
Plan parade
for 'resort
Grand Bend Reeve Bob Sharen
reported this week several
businessmen in the community
were planning to sponsor a Santa
Claus parade on Saturday,
December 22.
Persons wishing to donate may
contact Mr. Sharen or Dennis
Ma thers.

and family spent Sunday in
Ingersol with Mr. & Mrs. Elmer

David Cunningham is still in St.
Joseph's Hospital in traction. He
is feeling well and able to keep up
with his studies from Fanshawe
College,

celebrated her birthday along
with Mrs. D, Newman, Janis
Kestle, Lynn Ross, Nancy
Skinner and Eleanor Kestle at the
production of Anne of Green
Gables Wednesday evening,
Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Gilbert and
Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Blake visited
Mrs, S. Gilbert in Alma, Sunday.
Mr. & Mrs. W. Scott and
Brenda visited with Mrs. Bertha
Hendrie in Chatham, Sunday.
Mrs. Ruby Amies had the
misfortune to fall and sprain her
ankle. She was X-rayed at
University Hospital, bandaged
and released, Mrs. Amies is
secretary of the TOPs club in
Lucan and each morning several
members of TOPS exercise at her

Starting with branches of pine
and trimmings, he explained
each step and later drew a luelcy
ticket for the centre piece. Mrs.
Bill Regier won the beautiful
arrangement.
The December meeting of the
cwi, was held Tuesday in the
school gym. Mrs. Greg Fleming,
president, opened the meeting
with prayer.
Mrs. Pat Glavin gave the
treasurer's report and Mrs. Bill
McCann read the minutes, Many
lovely treat-baskets were on
display for distribution to parish
shut-ins for Christmas,
Mrs. Harry Van Osch read
scripture and Mrs. Chas, Dietrich
read the correspndence.
Rev. Fr, John Mooney spoke
briefly to the ladies.
A group of ladies were named
to be in charge of decorating the
church for Christmas.
Mr. & Mrs. Maurice Bradley,
Petrolia visited last week with
Mr. & Mrs. Tom Ryan, of Cor-
bett,
Valerie, Colleen, Stephanie and
Kristen Carey, London spent
Sunday with their grandparents,
Mr. & Mrs. Joe Carey.
Mrs. Eileen Thompson, Exeter,
spent the weekend with Mr. &
Mrs,Vincent Thompson and
Cindy.
Mr. & Mrs. Joe Regier and
baby, London, visited on the
weekend with Mr. & Mrs. Joseph
