trounced Stratford Perths 8-4 in
Stratford Tuesday night.
In back-to-back weekend
games the Jets lost to the Both-
well Barons 6-5 and 5-4. Both
games went into overtime before
the Barons were able to score in
sudden-death extra play,
The only action this week has
the Jets meeting the University
of Guelph in an exhibition game
at the Ilderton arena Sunday
afternoon at 2 p.m.
A member of last year's Jets
club, Dave Revington of Lucan is
now attending the University of
Guelph and performing with the
school team,
Stay Ahead
In direct contrast to their other
two games of the week, the Jets
jumped in front early Tuesday
night and were never headed.
Rick Fifield scored once in
each period to pace the L-I club to
victory.
John St. Cyr opened the game
scoring for Stratford at 5:50 of the
first period and that was the only
time his club was able to be in
front,
Before the first 20 minutes
were completed, Steve English
and Rick Fifield counted and the
Jets were ahead to stay, In the
second period the Jets outscored
the Perths 4-2 and they continued
the pace to get two goals to one by
the opposition in the final frame.
Barry Baynham, Jamie Robb
and Jacques Cousineau in ad-
dition to Fifield scored the second
period
In the closing period, Steve
Proctor and Fifield were the goal
getters,
Overtime Trouble
Overtime proved disastrous to
the Jets in their back-to-back
contests with Bothwell.
Saturday night in Bothwell, a
former member of the Mitchell
Hawks junior club, Jim Avery,
sunk the Jets ship with a goal at
2.07 of the sudden-death overtime
period,
The Jets were able to overcome
a three goal deficit in the third
Two wins
for minors
In a Shamrock minor league
tripleheader Wednesday night,
Exeter teams scored a pair of
victories over clubs from St.
Marys at the Exeter arena.
The Exeter peewees opened the
night with a 2-1 decision, the local
bantams followed by edging St.
Marys 3-2 and the midget contest
ended in a 6-2 victory for the
visitors.
David Bogart and Danny Bell
were the marksmen for the
Exeter Legion Auxiliary pee
wees. Bell notched the winning
goal near the four minute mark of
the second period.
Perry Pooley's second goal of
the night at 9.43 of the third
period assured an Exeter victory
in the bantam game. The other
successful Exeter shot was fired
by Dennis Preszcator.
Both Exeter midget goals in the
loss to St. Marys came from the
stick of John Van Gerwen,
period to force the game into
overtime. They were actually
trailing 5-1 late in the second
session.
In, the first period, Ivan
Warrender and Brian Hind,
scored for the Barons, both on
power plays while Tom Hodgins
was the L-I sniper with help from
Jamie Robb and Walt Parkinson,
The second period saw the
Bothwell boys jump into a
commanding lead as Gary
Brown, Kent Byrnes and Avery
put the puck past Lorne Daer in
the Jets cage,
Doug Galloway was able to cut
the lead a bit before the middle
frame ended as he converted
passes from Bill Bourne and Pete
Loveless.
The first Jets goal of the third
period came as the result of a
family combination. Terry
Bourne put the puck into the net
with the assist going to brother
Bill.
Jamie Robb scored twice in the
last seven minutes of regulation
time to knot the count. The first
goal came on passes from
Jacques Cousineau and Don
Urbshott and the second was on a
quick shot as Urbshott won the
face-off in Bothwell territory and
got the puck back to Robb and it
was in the net in short order.
Other statistics in the game
were also close. The shots on goal
were even at 44 and the Barons
took eight of the 15 penalties
called,
Little Differential
The Friday night game in
Ilderton was close at all times as
far as the score was concerned
but the Jets held the upper hand
in shots on goal at 40-22.
Neither team was able to grab
more than a one goal lead at
anytime. Kent Byrnes opened the
scoring for Bothwell at 4.20 and
some seven minutes later playing
coach Jack Nairn squared
matters for the Jets.
Nairn's goal was the result of a
play from one end of the rink to
the other but in a sort of a dif-
ferent way. The first assist went
to goalie Lorne Daer who passed
the puck ahead to Doug Galloway
and it eventually ended up on
Nairn's stick.
Art Strohm, another former
Mitchell Hawk next scored for
Bothwell.
Before the halfway mark of the
second period was reached, the
Jets scored on two occasions and
the Barons tallied once to keep
the margin at a single goal.
Pete Loveless and Doug
Galloway were the L-I sha?p-
shooters and Gary Schnecken-
berger scored for Bothwell,

period when Kent Byrnes notched
his second score of the game.

Bothwell at 3.20 of sudden-death
and the night was over.

And our warmest wishes for a delight-
ful holiday.
Lankamp's Esso defeated Don
Taylor Motors by a score of 6 to 1.
This is the most goals scored in
an Atom game this season.
Esso goals were scored by no
less than six different players
with one goal each, Dale Jones,
Mike Brunslow, Danny
Galloway, Wayne Smith, Rob
Belcke and Brad Scott, Danny
Becker was the only player on the
Taylor Motors team able to beat
the Esso goalie.
The second game was a 2 to 0
shut out for Conklin Lumber over
Cowan's B,P. Lee Hodgert and
Robert Watson each scored a
goal for Conklin.
Try to attend one or both days
of our Novice hockey tour-
nament, Wednesday and Thur-
sday, December 26 and 27. The
general admission ticket is good
for the whole day, so come and go
as you please or come and stay
for the whole day. These 7 and 8
year olds play a good brand of
hockey and I am certain it will be
worth your time and effort to take
in some of the games.
The Hawks have lost only one
game in their last six. This
Friday night Tavistock will be
the opposition for the Hawks.
This should he a good game,
Tavistock has always proved to
he a tough team for them to beat.
Next Wednesday, December 19
and Friday, December 21 at 10 -
11 a.m., there will be free skating
for tots and parents and other
persons interested in a session of
skating. This time is perhaps
more convenient for children
going to kindergarten in the
afternoon or those that have a
sleep after lunch,
So whatever the case may be,
dust off your old skates and come
young and old alike and see if we
can make this skating session
worth while.
