Hensall ladies elect slate, mark season
A short business meeting of the
Hensall was held in the
Fellowship Hall Monday evening
with president Kay Mock
presiding.
A new fire agreement between
the village of Hensall and the
townships of Hay and Tucker-
smith has been finalized and will
go into effect on January 1, 1974,
This is the first time Hay
township had entered into an
agreementwithHensall as far as
fire fighting services is con-
cerned,
Under the terms of the new
agreement, Hensall will pay 50
percent of all fire department
expenses and the townships will
each pay 25 percent.

At Monday's regular meeting
of Hensall council, councillor
Harold Knight reported he had
received some complaints about
public skating at the arena and
thought there should be more
supervision with a certain area
roped off for young skaters.
Building permits applications
from Wes Lenting, a workshop
and Don Dixon, renovations were
approved.
An extension was given to Hyde
Bros. Limited until January 15,
1974 to remove a steel shed which
is said to be a fire hazard,

girls, Five Oaks, Childrens Aid
Society, Overseas Relief and

It was decided to buy cord to

Following the adjournamentof
the business meeting, members
and guests assembled in Church
Sanctuary for the Christmas
meeting. The Church was
beautifully decorated for
Christmas by Mrs. Robert
Reaburn and Unit II members.
Guests were ladies from
Chiselhurst U.C.W. and
Emmanuel United Church,
Zurich. Helen Goddard presided
at the organ playing the carol
"Hark the Herald Angels Sing".
Unit IV were in charge of the
Resident marks
86th birthday
Mrs. Daisy Ivey who resides
with Mrs. Rachel Schwalm in
Hensall, was honored at a bir-
thday party Thursday afternoon
on the occasion of her 86th bir-
thday.
A few friends and neighbours
who have become acquainted
with Mrs. Ivey attended, as well
as her son and his wife, Mr. and
Mrs. Desmond Ivey of Sarnia.
Two long distance telephone calls
were received offering
congratulations, one was from
her grandson and his wife, Mr.
and Mrs. Anthony Ivey of
Virginia, and the other was from
her son, his wife and grand-
daughter Mr. and Mrs. Terrence
Ivey and Avril from Montreal.
Mrs. Ivey received many lovely
gifts and cards.

verses. of Hark The Herald
Angels Sing and extending a
welcome to members and guests,
Mrs. James McAllister chaired
the worship service. Mrs. Pearl
Erratt, Mrs, Nan Britton and
Mrs. Rowe read verses of
scripture followed each time by a
Christmas Carol, A playlet "The
Visited Planet" was acted out
with Mrs. 13ritton and Mrs,
Erratt .acting the part of angels,
they were assisted by Mrs.
Kinghorn, Mrs. Rowe and Mrs.
McAllister. The offering was
taken up by Mrs. Riley, Mrs.
Purdy, Mrs. Parke and Mrs.
Harburn. Kay Mock read
Mrs. Gordon Schwalm presided
for the meeting of the W.M.S. of
Carmel Presbyterian Church,
Monday evening, and opened the
meeting with a Christmas
meditation.
Mrs. Harry Snell and Mrs. Earl
Campbell were in charge of the
devotional.
The two ladies along with Mrs.
Ruby Hoggarth read passages
and lit candles of Faith, Hope and
Love.

Kinette Club
The Kinette club of Hensall
plan to visit Queensway Nursing
Home next week and on
December 5 visited the Goderich
Psychiatric Hospital. This past
weekend they visited all the shut-
ins in the Hensall area.
The Club recently gave
donations to the Rides for
Residents Van at Huronview, and
also the Salvation Army. The
Kinettes have announced that
they have paid for ice time for the
month of December for free
skating on Wednesday and
Friday at the Hensall arena.

The Hensall Women's Institute
are holding their Christmas
meeting on December 12 in the
Legion Hall at 8:15 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Mrs.
Jean Durst of Egmondville who
will demonstrate Christmas
floral decorations.
Ladies Aid Meets
Mrs. Clarence Volland
presided for the regular meeting
of the Ladies' Aid of Carmel
Church on Monday evening Mrs.
Snell read the correspondence
and "thank you" notes. Mrs. Earl
Campbell reported for the card
and quilting committee.
Mrs. Harvey Hyde gave the
Treasurer's report.
Arrangements were made to
pack boxes for the "shut-ins", on
December 12 at 1 :30 p.m.
Donations will be greatly ap-
preciated for these boxes.
Rev. Wilfred Jarvis conducted
service in Carmel Presbyterian
Church, Sunday, his sermon
subject was "Getting Ready."
The Sacrament of Holy Com-
munion will be celebrated Sun-
day, December 9.
Mrs. Laird Mickle had all her
family home on Sunday and they
attended the morning church
services in loving memory of
their father, Mr. Laird Mickle
who passed away one year ago on
the fourth of December,
Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Chapman
visited over the weekend with
Mr, & Mrs. Don MacLaren and
family in Oakville.

programme, It Came Upon the
Midnight Clear was sung,
followed by an organ and piano
duet by Mrs. Delbert Geiger and
Mrs. John Goddard, Mrs.
Marilyn Zivkovic of Exeter sang
two lovely solos and Janis
I3isback and Gall Travers sang
two lovely duets. Mrs. Doug Cook
retold the Christmas story, Mrs.
Robert Cook thanked' everyone
who took part in the programme
and after the carol "Joy to the
World", the meeting closed with
prayer.
The roll call was answered with
a verse with Christmas. Mrs.
Schwalm gave a reading "Whq Is
My Neighbour? " Mrs. Percy
Campbell gave the Treasurer's
report in the absence of Mrs.
Edgar Munn, Mrs. Orr gave the
Secretary's report. A presen-
tation was made to Mrs. Orr who
has taken up residence in Exeter
by Mrs. Schwalm who read the
address.
