Church News
United
A "hymn-sing", led by Mrs.
Ewart Madden, was enjoyed by
members and friends at the
United Church service Sunday
morning.
Mr. Madden took as his theme
"To heal the broken-hearted". He
said "Our extremity is often
God's opportunity to come in and
bless us. Being broken-hearted is
not just being wounded, but is a
state of complete mental,
spiritual and physical
helplessness. God comes in and
says 'I will heal your past' and
brings a new experience of His
love."
All young people of high school
age are invited to an evening of
music with "The Friends" folk
singing group, at a coffee house,
at the United Church Friday
evening.
Pentecostal Holiness
Rev. John Bend, Toronto, was
guest speaker at both services on
Sunday at the Pentecostal
Holiness Church.
At the morning service he
pointed out that Jesus Christ is
more than a brother to us. He is
our advocate, our refuge, our
guide, our healer and our com-
forter, but we must receive Him
as our Saviour.
Mr. Bend wants everyone to let
the world know that Jesus lives.
Rick Thornton led in the singing
and Marlene Butler was the
soloist.
At the evening service, Mr.
Bend's theme was "The return of
Our Lord". It was a very stirring
message pointing out that we
must not be like the "foolish
virgins" who were not ready
when their Lord came. Tim Stutt
was the leader for the song
service and Joan Lockyer ac-
companied herself on her guitar
for a solo.
