William Heine, editor of The London Free Press showed pictures and told of his trip as a member of the press with Prime Minister and Mrs, Trudeau to the People's Republic of China last September, Three area residents won $900 each when they split the first prize in the recent car draw held by the Grand Bend Order of the Alhambra. The professional development day workshop was led by Robert Stephenson, programme con- sultant in mathematics for the Ministry of Education. Mr. Stephenson was assisted by Miss Nancy Claus, Miss Eileen Campbell, Ken Cooper and Jim McCallum, resource teachers for the Middlesex County Board of Education. The teachers found their metric height and weight, made colourful metric sticks, estimated weights of common Stokkermans, Grand Bend, E. A. Callings, Grand Bend, Louis DeKort, Grand Bend, Peter Rombouts, Arkona, L. Siroen, Ilderton, Doug Courtney, Grand Bend, Tony Siroen, Ilderton, Eugene Ducharme, Clinton, Steve Kadleick, Grand Bend, Harry Maas, Grand Bend. household materials, took metric temperatures, and generally discovered the ease with which one could convert to metric thinking. Little known metric facts were discovered: Lois Ottewell was 179 centimetres tall. Bob Laye's temperature was 37 degrees Celsius (normal). Glenda Wagner wore a 19 centimeter shoe. Larry Black weighed nearly 105 kilograms. John Siertsema drove 40 kilometres to get from his home to Stephen School. Bill Millson can plow 1.5 hectares per hour with his 5 furrow 40 centimetre bottom plow. The one hundred and twenty teachers devoured 33 kilograms of donuts and drank 80 litres of coffee. The funeral of the late Mrs. Pat Reid who had been living with her daughter Mrs. Elsie Prance, LOndon was held recently from Exeter, We had just moveu to a new home, and I was having a difficult time trying to select a shower curtain to match the tile in our bathroom. Since my toothbrush was the exact shade I had in mind, I began to carry it with me to use as a color guide. In one shop, the clerk became quite annoyed with me as I repeatedly turned down various curtains because they didn't match my toothbrush.
