Above president Bruce Schlotzhauer of Stratford presents trophies to Brian Kipfer of Dashwood and Audrey Collins of Varna. Students visit Ottawa. Dashwood women elect follows: past president, Mrs. Gordon Bender; president, Mrs. Mervyn Tieman; vice- presidents, Mrs. Don Gaiser and Mrs. Lloyd Beaver; recording secretary, Mrs. Jack Gaiser; assistant, Mrs. Lloyd Eagleson; treasurer, Mrs. Wm, Chandler; finance convener, Mrs, Harry Hoffman; pianist, Mrs. Ken McCrae; assistant, Mrs. Mervyn Tieman; card convener, Mrs. Earl Guenther; flower convener, Mrs. Harry Hoffman; sunshine and church flower conveners, Mrs. Ralph Weber and Mrs. Jessie Rader; program com- mittee, the executive; auditors, Mrs, Letta Taylor and Mrs. T.H. Hoffman. Ladies Aid Group 1 of Zion Lutheran church Ladies Aid was in charge of the meeting Wednesday with Mrs. Harry Hayter, convener, Mrs. Chas Martene introduced the guest speaker, Rev. L.G. Stairs, secretary of the Leprosy mission for Southern Ontario. Prior to showing a film, "Freedom from Bondage", he spoke of the founding of the first leprosy mission in India by an Irishman, Wellesly Bailey 160 years ago, It was founded on compassion, even if they had no means of ,a cure. Today there are 16 drugs used in the treatment and control of leprosy. Mrs. Jim Hayter president, dealt with the business. A generous offering was made to Rev. Stairs for the Leprosy mission as well as purchasing some of his books for the library. There were 20 members and four guests present. The Altar Guild reported 18 visits. The new Guild is Mrs. Louella Tieman and Mrs. Charles Tieman. Donations were made to the Blind, Missions, and the Lutheran Hour. The nominating committee is Mrs. Albert Miller, Mrs. Martha Miller and the president. Group 2 is in charge of the December meeting with the other groups each providing a number for the program, Persona Is Mrs. Ray Rader and Mrs. Earl Keller, 4-H leaders were guests of the ministry of agriculture and food at the Royal Winter Fair where they toured the grounds and attended the, "leaders' breakfast" Michael Gibson, Marty Becker, Jeff and Tom Hayter, Peter Datars, Vickie Miller and Laurie Becker spent a few days in Ottawa with the South Huron Grade 10 History class, Mr. & Mrs. Brian Marriage and Randy were Sunday visitors with Mr. & Mrs. Leo Gibson and boys. Sunday visitors with Mrs, Martha Miller were Mr. & Mrs. Ken Clark, Dresden; Mr, & Mrs. Melvin Stade and Sherrie; and Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Miller. It was also a triple birthday celebration for Mrs. Clark and Mr, & Mrs. Oscar Miller, all with November birthdays. IRVIN RADER The November meeting of the United church Women of Calvary United church was held Tuesday under the direction of the stewardship and recruiting group, chaired by Mrs, Hugh Boyle. The scripture reading was by Mrs. E.R. Guenther, followed by prayer by Mrs. Jack Gaiser. Pianist was Mrs. Ken McCrae. Mrs. Wm. Brenner and Mrs. Gerald Kading, Grand Bend, favoured with two song selections and every one joined in the singing. Rev. Bruce Guy, Mrs. Don Gaiser, Mrs. Hugh Boyle, Mrs. Ken McCrae; Mrs. ER, Guen- ther, Mrs. Art Haugh, Mrs. Lloyd Beaver, Mrs, Erwin Schade, and Mrs. Jack Gaiser presented a play, "Tell Me Doctor". Mrs. Gordon Bender, president, dealt with the business and 27 members were present. The worship service was taken by Mrs, Lloyd Cooper with the theme "Thankfulness'. Mrs. Wm, Bell, president, chaired the business, Fowl supper collection netted $361.50. An invitation to Bayfielii U,C.W. December 6 was accepted. The topic was taken by Mrs. Emerson. Kyle and was presented in the form of a skit with two scenes, The first was Moses' response to God's call; the second was five women enjoying coffee after a friend's shower. Ladies participating in the skit were Mrs. Emerson Kyle, Mrs. Wm, Consitt, Mrs. Tom Reid, Mrs, Ross Broadfoot and Mrs. John A. Cooper, The skit was timely, humorous and revealing in regard to problems confronted by U,C.W. leaders trying to encourage all members to participate in its programs, Mrs. Norman Dickert and Mrs. Wm. Bell attended the South Huron regional at Grand Bend and Mrs. Bell gave a report of the days activities. A new slate of officers was brought in by the nominating committee.
